Though I'm bummed for the loss, I'm happy that the US and Canadá are raising their level. This in the end helps México raise it's game.

I've never been so proud of the Canadian men's soccer team. I've never seen pace like this. I've never seen our team believe in each other like this. We're not just trying to eek into the World Cup anymore. We're legit. Canada IS a World Cup team.
I’m happy and proud for the win too, but let’s not say BS, it would be a huge accomplishment for us even to get to quarter finals in WC, Mexico is a mid-level team during the World Cup and beating them doesn’t make us the favourites to win the World Cup

I was at the game, right where the team came to celebrate at the end. Amazing atmosphere, amazing performance! The referee was awful tonight. So biased towards the Mexicans. But we beat them anyway!

Wow the Canadian men's football team is known to be weak, making it to the Gold Cup, never qualifying for the World Cup for several decades with an audience not very interested in football ... And there they are well placed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup by beating Mexico with enthusiasm but only two very good players like Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David cannot be enough to explain the progression of Canada it's crazy. I want to see the USA, Canada and Mexico directly qualified for the 22 World Cup and see Jamaica in the intercontinental play-off.

I have followed this team since before ‘86 and they are for real. KJ is right on, as this team is no fluke. This bodes well for future World Cups as the team is so young. Having seen Mexico and the US, I am convinced that they are pale comparisons to their predecessors. Kudos to Canada - they performed when it mattered the most.
Mexico might be pale compared to their predecssors, but USA has great young players. Maybe in qualifying for 2030 (USA doesn't have to qualify for 2026, and Canada and Mexico might have to qualify), USA and Canada will be the top two, with Mexico and everybody else significantly worse.

A few years ago, Australia and New Zealand replaced the name soccer with football. The Edmonton football club is called FC Edmonton = Football club Edmonton. FC Dallas is also called a football club Dallas. Both names (soccer and football) are common in the United States and Canada. But outside of the US and Canada in the whole world everyone says football.

Mexico couldn't get anything going until the last ten minutes of the game. Quite something to watch. Mexico was very lucky not to have lost 4-1. Post game and last minute Mexican players' poor sportsmanship and some of their fans homophobic chants was disturbing. Always seems to be the minority of both players and fans that ruin it for the majority. Congrats Canada, future looks bright.
