- After a long drought a new trailer has dropped! This is definitely not the most animated trailer out there so I guess this breakdown will be a little shorter.

I really do like the character acting we’ve seen so far in the trailers where it might be a little conservative in some parts, but also still has little touches of animation like hair moving, Goku spinning his power pole, him doing stuff like backflips spinning in general, or slightly snappy timing with intense or exaggerated poses and faces to make it look more expressive. I’ve always loved seeing that kind of character acting an anime, with animators like Yoshihiko Umakoshi, Kazuya Hisada or Tu Yong-Ce because to me it feels like even if they might not use a ton of drawings they’re using the ones they do have to help portray expression and emotion, and it’s something I always have fun trying to implement in my own animations :3

With this show heavily sticking to Toriyama's modern designs, I'm curious to see how Chikashi Kubota and Takahashi's scenes will look, with their style usually sticking more to the Buu Saga look.

Daima itself is an abysmal idea, it's like if they turned the main cast from The Terminator into kids, it's just ridiculous. There's no standards among fanboys.

Odd that they are all kids again but when Piccolo was a year old he was already adult sized.
I will admit I am a little worried since I heard that this is largely made up from the same staff as Dragon Quest die and the fact that they were stuff like CG Cheron I have a feeling we’re probably going to get some CG fight scenes similar to some of those episodes in quest no I hope those are largely just for much more limited episodes rather than the really high-quality ones cause I feel like they would end up sticking out like a sore thumb like a lot of dragon quest is early episodes but overall yeah the animation continues to look really high-quality and I hope that the animators are given a good schedule even despite Twitter being all like oh why is dimer taking so long like they have no idea like always how an animated series works

I'm glad that Piccolo Jr.'s belt is sky-blue, his pants and shirt are dark-purple, his shirt's neckline hole design is circle-shaped neckline hole design, and he has brownish-orange weighted Namekian shoes with pointy tips on in this upcoming anime, even when he's wished back into a little kid. 😀 🙂

Chibi designs still got me feeling some type of way but I'm still going to watch it. Looking forward to more breakdowns!

This trailer didn't have as smooth animation as the first but the compositing and art direction look nice.
Maybe it is just me, but the modern stuff just feel like it's missing something that made the original so special. My knee jerk reaction makes me not want to like this and yet I want good Dragon Ball. It's my all time favorite. I still don't like the hair highlights, the GT esque chibification of characters, and the plot unable to move forward. I pray this will be good but I have my doubts. From my perspective, dragon ball lost a lot of momentum that it used to have

Tbh I dont care about the powerscaling rainbow stuff here. I just want to see some old school, nostalgic Dragon Ball. I hope we get a lot of nyoi-bo action from Goku , and generally more physical, grounded combat than tons of transformations and energy beams etc. (the trailers certainly suggest it!)
Wait... show? I thought it was going to be a one off movie. I was all fine and well telling people "This is Toriyama's last work, we owe it to him to check it out with an open mind." But how long is this going to be? Because I'm still not sold on a mini Goku story and the trailer was mid-AF.

@@stefans1963 because the merchandise didn't sell well. They moved on from Super to Daima. I don't see Daima as a one off spin off, I see it as a replacement for Super.
And I doubt it will do much better than Super, but we will have to see about that.

Not really IMO. That "kiddification" effect is among the most uninspired I have ever seen. Piccolo looks nothing like a kid namekian, and vegeta with his widow's peak (which wasn't there originally in his kid flashbacks in the 90s) looks laughable. These are nothing more than big head + shrunken body versions of the adult characters, with zero creativity to it
Actually, kid Vegeta's design was redone in DB Minus. That was how he looked in Broly. His old design with the cape was retconed a while ago.

@mechadeka No, those flashbacks were filler. In the manga, after Frieza broke off his armor, he went straight to his 2nd form, no talk about the past or flashbacks.
@gorofujita5767 Well, as that other comment said, him having bangs didn't make sense because Vegeta said a pure Saiyan's hair doesn't change. So he should've always had the same hairstyle since he was born.
what annoys me the most is the one time and opportunity that this absurd idiotic toei and shueisha have to create an opportunity for the young kid generation that is goten and trunks to develop this amazing adventure, for us the fans to actually have a moment to bond with them and see them grow and develop through this adventure....
NO just turn everyone into kids and make it the goku and vegeta show again!!

Boruto, Pokémon, now DBZ. I hate that Japan feels the need to make a chibi version of cartoons were at their best due to grit and depth (less so with pokemon but it still had its moments).
Boruto, Pokémon and now DBZ. I hate this trend in anime of making chibi/softer versions of once great IPs. All these shows were at their peak when they had some grit and depth, mature and serious themes even when the cartoon was aimed at children. When I was a kid I didn't want to watch chibi shows, I wanted to watch what the older kids were watching. This has to be a cash grab to sell toys or appeal to the cute anime audience.
Keep in mind you have not watched the show and are already jumping to so many conclusions. How do you know the show has no depth or serious themes when you have not watched a single episode???
Firstly, this hasn't happened with Boruto (or Pokémon) and secondly, it's just db, not dbz. dbz is the second part of the series, not the franchise. the manga wasn't even called dbz
