I watch Chris Hedges and can't get the song "Dirty Laundry" out of my head :)
Journalist, yes, and here are in my opinion, 3 of the few that really are true to their craft, they can empathise, and they feel their pain and letting us share and looking through the window with them.
I had a bunch of friends get mad at me back in 2008, when they were all going to the pub to 'watch the debates' (Obama/ McCain) like that was something fun to do. I told them, "Washington is just Hollywood for people with a college education." They didn't like that, but it was true then and seems even more accurate today.
yes, Katie, that WAS great!!
Critical engagement--a breath of fresh air! Thanks so much!
I listen to a lot of political talk on UA-cam... never does the time go so quick as listening to Chris Hedges, 50 minutes turned into 5 minutes, so good
awesome interview! Thanks guys!
What a wonderful show. This is the 4th episode I've watched. Still excellent. If only I could subscribe without also subscribing to the rest of Rolling Stones.
Thanks for the show.
As a curmudgeon who reads stuff, thank you and keep kicking ass. You have replaced institutions who are of regularly lower quality and not humor based.
Keep on telling it as it really is Chris. Great to hear truth once and a while.
I like this ‘all edges’ approach to commentary.
Thanks for interviewing Chris Hedges. Also, thanks for embracing the name Useful Idiot...I've been called that more than once
Matt Taibbi, Chris Hedges, Aaron Mate are last 3 real journalists in the US.
Hunter: I swear I didn't do it, and I promise not to do it again. We good?
I've just read the book Don't Label Me by Irshad Manji : it's a call for bringing common sense back into social relations.
Everybody seems to have an agenda now and social media seems to instigate conflict between agendas.
I'm also reading tome 2 of Building the American Republic : many of the social and economic conflicts that we have right now have their double in past American History.
Problem is : it takes time reading a history book and people's attention span seems to be getting shorter and shorter.
You two are doing great work. Subscribed.
The "worthy and unworthy victims" idea is not Chomsky but Edward Herman.
I. Fischer-tree I think they wrote books together.. Or at least one book together.. Did they write manufacturing consent together..? I can’t remember.. 🤔
@@Miriyum1031 Yes. Manufacturing Consent was one. But that idea was Hermans, and hearing Chomsky talk about that book, much more than we think was Hermans. As much credit as Chomsky gets, and most well deserved, I do think it's only fair to give what's due to the late Herman.
I. Fischer-tree Yup, I definitely agree! Thanks for the info! It’s hard to tell who to give credit to on the specifics of that book :) That book should be taught to all!
@@Miriyum1031 yes, they wrote Manufacturing Consent together and The Political Economy of Human Rights, comparing the coverage of Cambodia and East Timor.
Bernie needs to step the f-up and be the Bernie we all know and love.
Hedges is our most serious and important public intellectual under 80.
Our intelligence agencies have run amuck and are now getting involved in domestic politics... crazy times
kickass interview!
I love your interviews. The ones with Chris Hedges were the best.
Hedges should be a national name every American knows...if our media was sane.
Good show again, thanks
Why is Robert Fisk never mentioned as the ideal independent journalist.
That was great stuff. 👏👏
Hah! The prince and heir to the Hunter S Thompson crown!
He participared in sessions were children were abused, tortured and killed and filmed (Nebraska famous case)
Hair Plugs For Men, 220, 221, what ever it takes .... Tulsi brought up the point of Trump being elected and calling out the Democrats, she needs to keep it concise and consistent. Good show folks.
I Object! Why? Because its devastating to my case.
