The way Tom was staring in disbelief at his ex-wife's second husband, he was probably thinking, "No, this can't be! Is he insane?!" The funny thing is that Tom was certain that most other men would make the same choices as he did that the idea of someone more responsible than him was ludicrous!

As for Tom , the damage has already been done and it's too late for him to kiss and make up . The children has been legally adopted by the ex wife and she is also remarried . Most of all Tom deserved that door slammed to his monsterous face .
He was also starting to get verbally abusive and threatening and did you notice that the new husband was a REAL MAN. Both MORALLY in that he valued the responsibility of taking care of his family but also PHYSICALLY as he was physically much stronger and larger than the ex and the ex was intimidated by his greater size and better developed muscles.
That woman is an angel - too many claim "not my kids, not my problem". Ha! Well now look the lady soon got the family she needed: three wonderful kids and a better husband that that deadbeat doofus. I'd have probably done the same: dump the deadbeats and keep the kids myself.
If Tom wasn't prepared to be a father, he shouldn't have gotten his first wife or his lover pregnant in the first place. When confronted with the fruits of his selfishness, he simply foisted them onto someone else and quietly abandoned them. When Tom finally felt he was ready, he was certain that his second ex-wife would gladly accept him back, only to be shocked when he learned that she already married a more responsible second husband. In dodging his responsibilities, Tom failed to realize that there are people in the world who are far more responsible than he'll ever be.

I do feel sorry for these poor children because they were abandon by their mother while their father Tom who doesn't want anything to do with them and if that wasn't bad enough he also left his second wife for his mistress but what's worst before they left the country Tom has abandon his newborn daughter at his second ex-wife doorstep. Now five years later Tom returned home expecting his second ex-wife to forgive him and take him back after everything he had done but luckily she had already moves on with her live as she's remarried to someone who will never abandon her and the children unlike Tom who never deserved to be a father to his children in the first place as he choose to run away from his responsibilities.
With people like Tom , once he destroyed that trust , there's no remending . He had already waited too late . It's his loss .

Really? He abandons his wife and children for FIVE YEARS which is a very big chunk of a childhood then thinks that he can just show up with FLOWERS and she will REMARRY him and give him shared custody?? Did he even send CHILD SUPPORT??

Tom is a self-centered a-hole and a hypocrite his ex wife abandoned his children, then not long after he cheats on op and abandons not only his two sons but his newborn daughter as well before fleeing the country with said mistress makes him a monster, the fact he shows up 5 years later and then get's mad at op rejecting him shows that he hadn't changed one bit, I wouldn't be surprised that the only reason he came crawling back was because his mistress left him. I love how op shows that you don't need to be blood to be family and she and her new husband gives them just that.

Tom was a stupid, deceiving bastard and he got what he deserved. He hid the fact that he was in a relationship with another woman before and that he had three kids.
The inncocent girl who was his second love simply accepted his past and took in his children for the sake of her true love for him but in the end he showed his true colours that he was not in love with her but with his previous lover and eloped with her, leaving his second wife speechless and feeling burdened with a huge responsibility.
What his second love did to him in the end was a big punishment given to him for his evil actions and was a big lesson to him also. Although the children were deprived of mother love by their biological mother, they received unconditional and true love from a woman they hardly knew and shows that a mother is not a woman who just gives birth but also loves, cares and takes care of her children too.
