    Can you use corn starch if you dont have wheat starch?

      You’ll need wheat starch or try the other recipe with glutinous rice flour.

      Sorry I can’t write in Hmong but I do speak it. I can try to translate the ingredients in Hmong if that helps for now. Not sure when I’ll be making these again to record in Hmong.

    Can you take a picture of the wheat starch you are recommending or have? I would like to know which one before I buy and try out the recipe.

      Hi, unfortunately I can’t post photos here but it’s a clear bag with a pink strip and Chinese or Vietnamese writing (unsure). I posted another version not using wheat starch if you want to check that out.

    Zoey, can you substitute the lard with oil and wheat starch with topica starch? Just don't want to buy these ingredients and not use them after making these. Thanks.

      You can use butter instead of lard. I have not yet tried with tapioca starch so I am unsure but it may work.

    Is wheat starch and wheat flour the same thing?

      Wheat starch is a refined form of wheat flour. They aren’t exactly the same thing.

      Sorry for late reply, some people had a hard time finding wheat starch so the new video was made without wheat starch and included dried mash potatoes.

      It’s comparable to corn starch but not exactly the same.       Hi, I recommend using wheat starch. Corn starch or potato starch can be substitute but I find wheat starch gives the best results.

      You can refrigerate. I have not tried freezing yet.

    You didn’t use your kitchen aid, is it easier to mix by hand?

      It’s the same, I prefer by hand so I know if I need more water or not. Also doing by hand prevents flour from getting into the air while mixing.
