I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW HELPFUL THIS CHANNEL IS! To be honest, even just hearing about other people’s stories helps so much. I’m working everyday to prepare for my own life in Japan, but I also help friends and anyone I meet by sharing any resources I have. Love her interview. She's full of energy and information. The information however about the ISBN number for publishing on KDP is outdated. They are 100% free. I love her hair but I couldn't keep up with what she was saying she did. I don't care to use any chemicals on my hair so that's an additional challenge for me. Yes! I'm in Africa now...I'm an African American..and like her I have lived in Asia about 7 years. I have over 50-60 books on KDP. It's a fun way to earn a little extra! Love the interview.

Her story is so inspirational. I constantly tell my daughters and other Black Americans to think outside the American box and explore the world. I'm considering teaching English in either Morocco or Spain. If anyone can offer some advice I'm all ears :)
If you want to teach in Spain learn Spanish, if you want to teach in Moroccan I would say learn french. I know the native language isnt french, but most people speak it and it's going to be much easier for you as an english speaker.
Wow, nice interview. Nice to see other Americans with the entrepreneurial spirit. I’m also self-employed, and loving it, but I really owe that to my self-employed Japanese husband who encouraged me to start my own business. I enjoyed teaching before, but owning your own school is MUCH better!
If I wanted to start a business in Japan - or South Korea - or China or Philippines, it would be a restaurant. As an American, we cook food in ways - with spices - and with techniques that they don't. While in Philippines for July, I made my Filipina friends Penne Ala Vodka using grocery items they'd never have used and they LOVED IT. I made the Spaghetti using my method for sauce which they don't know and they LOVED IT. When in China, I made them a "soul food" thanksgiving dinner: Turkey, Stuffing, Mac & cheese, cranberry sauce... they didn't even know how to eat it - but they LOVED IT. I know how to make deserts in ways they wouldn't normally do. These people LOVE rice and pasta. I could do Lasagna, Spaghetti, Ziti, Linguine, Mac &Cheese and desserts - with a lunch and dinner menu and clean up there.
We white people have some okay food too 😭😭 I mean I probably do prefer spices in food cause that shit tastes the best but it's not our fault europe doesnt grow spices 😂

That's true what she said, Japanese people asked me if I'm Brazilian and I would say, that I'm American they would get really excited to have conversation.

I'm talking to myself as I write this...She mentioned the concept of GROUP that is very important on Japan and how everyone arrives early and leaves late and how she as an American fought that for six years and then finally got it and THEN things were easier because she learned to go with the flow. As black Americans we(me) talk about going with the flow and then DONT do it Always to our hurt because we(me ) look upon doing that as giving up and giving in.
I like reading books about crazy crap in Japan about black people I remember watching old videos on UA-cam about being black in Japan or korea I use hellosensei all the websites she named are good

@fried okra I agree with your comment. In the end its not about the colour of the woman but flexibility we just have to look at a piece of rope to fully understand what you mean. A rope is strong because the strands are knotted together in a way that a broom stick for example is not. They both have their own glory but serve different purposes. People often times confuse these things which is what I believe Matt does. If a man is looking to hand everything over to a woman (as some men like to do) then she could be the perfect person for them and Matt would be perfectly correct but if the man is to take the place in the family that the Creator intends someone has to lead and someone has to follow.
I hate to say it, but this lady has the kinda attitude that scares Asian people. There's a hierarchy in a lot of Asian cultures and someone like her will work well in America and Western countries, but in Asia, its frown upon. I'm just saying, that when Asians say Black people are aggressive, this is what they mean.
