Absolute TRUE story. I still like playing it though :D But yeah, compared to a qdps herald it's really in a subpar position by far.

PQbers is one of those support dps that are more dps than support. If you can play a dps rotation you won't have any trouble upkeeping your boons (and will be racing the regular dps for top position) but if you have more of a healer mindset you will find yourself having trouble keeping quick up.

Hey Muk, As an berserker enjoyer (6000+hrs and current benchmark video) it feels kinda sad you dont enjoy playing this.
As more comments have pointed out, the berserker rotation is the exact same as the dps rotation so for this build its kinda needed to actualy do a proper rotation.
That said the rotation is way more flexible than most other dps rotations as in it doesnt realy matter if u make a mistake as long as u keep to the basic concept of:
in axe:
use 2 skills -f1 (2+3, 4+3, headbutt+outrage or 5)
in gs:
f1-healskill-f1 2-4 f1 weapswap
Your auto attack is rarely used.
This spec is picked because of the dps it does, not because of the amazing support it gives and can only be played in a healer sub where the alac heal does all the other boons.
It also has quite alot of cc on a low cd if played properly (take assasin coat and amulet and switch fury signet for wildblow, or even take double/ single mace)
It is a fast paced rotation but u can que up almost everything so u do not have to be perfect in clicking the buttons which makes it a not that difficult dps class.
This build is not a build u would run on every boss as in alot of times the utility of another quickness outweigs the dps berserker can give (looking at you chrono D:)
Then again i understand your video is not a guide, so this is not critisizm but just some tips how to play somewat easier.

As a long berserker main veteran, tip of advice. Bind the burst skill onto your mouse4 or mouse5

love the fast mukked up skill callouts those were the best part.
How Heat of the Soul trait works - it gives everyone 3s of quickness when you hit an enemy with any burst skill except Decapitate (axe burst) and 2s of quickness when you use Decapitate. They made it this way because Decapitate doesnt have internal cooldown like any other burst.
You don't get Quickness from USING Burst skills, you get it from LANDING a Burst skill, they are VERY different things.

quick condo berserker is easier imo.
Because longbow burst doesn't require a target, it's easier to keep quick up during invuln phases.
It's a skill priority, not a hard rotation
runes are more synchronous. (firebrand runes)
second weapon set is more flexible (sword or mace, if you need a lot of CC).
still uses headbutt combo for opener, and heal for reset; but it's really easy.
You can cover the gaps in OLC but you need to run warhorn as your offhand with axe, which drops your dps a bit but allows you to stack up quickness duration during the rotation.
Totally agree on your points. I've played this build for around 150 hours and can only recommend it, especially for boss fights where you don't need to move. This allows you to focus entirely on your rotation. In such situations, you can easily achieve 30k DPS. This is the only advantage I see in this build. Outside of that, I wouldn't play it, especially if there are any phases where you can't attack the boss.
Quick tip: You can play a full berserker quickness berserker but just swap out the sigils of air for sigil of duration (the 10% boon duration one) and use relic of the herald, this when stacked will give you 40% boon duration mid combat for a solid increase.
The problem with Dagda CM and OLC is that it is not easy on melee in general. There you use condi zerker that has range and you can boon cap really fast thus deal with the phases you cannot hit the boss. It is not really a problem with the boon build - it is a problem with melee vs ranged.
On encounters like MO or KC power quick is good. And it might be high APM but the rotation is really easy. And really fun. It is very mindless really.
I've been watching some of these videos and I wish you had an pretty basic guide about the mechanics/rotation of every elite and/or weapon for every class. In a very broad way just so people that don't know much about them can get a feel for how they would work. Like the one about mirage talking about the mirrors and how it doesn't roll dodge. Things like that.
Heat the Soul gives less Quickness for Decapitate because it's spammable. That's why it has Quickness listed twice. The one with Decapitate's icon is the reduced Quick.
I haven't played much of the power variant, but have had some more fun with the condi variant since both weapon bursts are ranged (side tangent, I find it weird that warrior doesn't have a two handed melee condi weapon).
With my alteration to the build I use sword/warhorn for comfort as an extra quickness source (doesn't require a target, unlike the bursts) and some extra boons and barrier.
it's funny and i have been playing this as my main since I started in January and the chaos is kinda fun. I rotate around to my reaper and chrono though too. I do use a gaming mmo mouse and bind and lot of buttons right on my mouse so I hardly move any fingers. to activate stuff makes it really chill.
Muk, I have played this build for HOURS and I LOVE it... However everything you said is exactly right. 😂
I will say this in defense of the build: I've got a huge bloodstone eye'd red and white charrzerker which I have this build on and when you are in a convergence rushing from boss to boss destroying everything in your path and blowing red anger rings and shouting at the enemy while spewing quickness... you feel like a real berzerker.
The build is finnicky as hell though and yes, if you loose your rhythm you are boned. To anyone looking to play this, here are my tips:
1) Enjoy it.
2) Use headbutt/rage/outburst when starting rotation but save the headbutt until breakbars or next combat cycle to restart rotation. CC too valuable to waste for 2 seconds more of rage every 20 seconds when you may stun yourself for part of that additional time.
3) During rage, use outburst every time it is up to reset your axe cleve burst immedietly or stunbreak to keep rotation.
4) Many of the zerker skills can be overlapped slightly on each other. Learn the timing so you can burst/skill-skill/burst as fast as you can.
When you use these, you can stay enraged for a whole combat cycle and get a backlog of quick on allies which will last a few dodge rolls and interupts. All in all though it is a very finnicky build and Muk is right as always. 😂

One could say that there isn't much to do if a profession has only F1 (or F1-F2) as mechanic, so you have to tie boons or healing to that, somehow. But I had fun playing a quick spellbreaker, before they completely changed the banners a couple of years ago.
I don't know what was wrong with the banners, that they had to change them again. Was it too easy? AlacRene must press 1 button every 20 seconds to provide alacrity around him, I think banners weren't so dumb. At least you had to position them.

I main both necro and warrior, I personally am used to the apm for berserker and don't find it to be too fast. That being said warrior as a whole has a lot of janky problems that anet refuse to fix. If quickness application was increased by 2 seconds that would help but there are base warrior issues that won't be fixed by just doing that. Now onto the major berserker problem, THEY TOOK MY SPIN TO WIN AWAY! All because PvP/WvW players can't dodge roll or block :(
i agree. Warrior have been overlook for some time.... But maybe when they are looking into support warrior buffs, they stumble into other warrior issue? :D
@@Newman11111 Warrior has had these issues since before HoT according to warrior who played it then so I doubt it.
pqberserker is the build i play if i have to join a group as quickness cause you swap 1 trait from the dps build for 100% quick uptime
I have a bit of a funny take on this one
TL;Dr - imo this is lower APM than most DPS builds
So, I've played lots of DPS and boondps classes, and a lot of the time you see stacks and stacks of damage numbers jump in the air - multihit skills, pulsing aoes etc.
Add to that different cast times and skill priorities - i.e. you can queue some skills but can't queue others because they'll cancel the currently casting one.
Anyway, the point is that you usually end up mashing the living heck out of keys because you want them executed as soon as they possibly can be, so you do repeated input. This artificially (but also sorta naturally) raises APM of any moderately non-linear class (95% of all DPS specs).
It is largely caused by the lack of feedback on when the effects have been fully executed and the post-animation can be cancelled (e.g. infamous reaper greatsword 5 can be effectively insta-cast but has an enormous aftercast delay)
Anyway, the point is that I find power berserker one of the most relaxing DPS classes to play :)
The reasons are simple - no need to track cooldowns, few buttons and low sequence dependence, and MAINLY the following:
Axe F1 delivers one big attack with a good sound effect and a cancellable animation. All of its effectiveness is baked into one big number popping up on your boss and that SFX. It's the easiest skill to spam - you can always very clearly see exactly when to press the button, and you always need to press it just once. Hence, it removes that inflated APM I mentioned above, and it does in fact require fewer button presses ^^ at least in my experience that is. You catch the rhythm and it's like playing diet sugar-free beat saber but with bonks: one-two-bonk! One-two-bonk!
(Also I find it hilarious how power berserker rotation hasn't changed for half the decade now)

I mixed in some Diviners to buile an excess so when we split (Dagda for example) everyone has some extra time before getting close to me again.
I would ask Muk to replace axes with hammer. Felt muuuuuich better to me. Less damage for sure, but cc is not a problem (+defense line)
Coming up to 3000 hours on my Warrior, never realised it was an APM heavy class. I really enjoy the berseker gameplay, but its been my only real class since 2012 so i guess im a bit bias.

I saw you cancelled Whirlwind Axe like at 50%. The dude keeps spinning after the progress bar ends. The APM is too low, during axe rotation you don't actually HAVE to press decapitate every time, more like keep F1 pressed. After 100 blades you didn't use GS4, we want to throw GS, change weapon and have the GS come back on Axe.
Again, going too slow, the idea is to never drop out of Berserker. Also, after a while you'll learn to time your CC for when it's required with minimum disruption to the rotation. Using healing all the time is awesome, because you're topping your self all the time.
Metabattle has most rotations annotated, awesome place to understand what's going on the rotations.
One last thing, Linsi; the guy who made the Benchmark video, has a video called: "In depth berserker rotation guide for raids to get to that 43K" where he goes almost frame-by-frame of how he reached the Benchmark.
Berserker is the only spec I play, I love the high apm and the satisfying rotation. The rotation itself isnt really hard to learn its that you need to press your buttons FAST in order to do any real DPS. I recommend putting on a few pieces of assassins gear and swapping out the signet of fury for wild blow to make up for the bad cc.
So, the problem here could be easily fixed with an 'auto F1' configuration like mech and ranger?

Big props for measuring your quickness and adding boon duration gear when you noticed it was low. Good example for people to learn from.
This is one of my favorite builds. I like having a lot of buttons to press and it has a nice tempo to it. Heat the Soul has two numbers because one is specific to Decapitate. It gives less quickness than normal to account for the fact that it has zero cooldown.
Maybe I’m a bad person but I play solo Axes. My other set is double Maces. I do a 3-5k less damage but I contribute heavily to CC and don’t worry about speed swapping weapons. Still hella APM though.
GS in the rotation is only around 1k dps los :)
The two things I play most often are qdps Berserker and aheal Scourge, so maybe I just love smashing my function keys...
Maybe if they Added in a master trait automatic casting of the f1
Heya muk! just my thoughts on this its just that rootation is going quite slow and is why your quickness may feel low. i would say you were doing rotation at about only 65-75% of its "proper" speed and thats probably why it felt low and is personally my favorite quickness build to play :D i just dont play it as often because it has a lack of utility for some fights that a squad may ask for stab and blocks
IIRC the "proper" speed is to queue the attacks that can be queued so they trigger as fast as possible.

This was the class I started raiding on, back before it was even buffed to do decent damage or provide quickness. Some bosses, especially more recent ones, are basically impossible to use it on. :/
I think what needs to happen here for a fixed quick zerk rotation is increase the provided quickness by bursting by 1 second or even better, drastically reduce the berserk mode CD in PVE. The current CD is too long for quickly starting to provide quickness after a boss phase. It is very common to lose the berserker mode at the worst time possible.

If you have issues keeping up the quickness, just get more Diviner's. But yes, the out of combat issue is really annoying, on Heal Warrior as well.

As someone who has casually played quick berserker a lot, you really need to master the fights and know which fights you can run it on. You wont give stability to your party. If you are on a fight where it doesnt work, quick rev is always an option. With good mastery, phases can actually allow you to far exceed typical dps. Is it worth the trouble? Not really, quickness falloff is really bad for your party
use only axe/axe and get 2 maces for the second set,
1-2k dps loss BUT ...a lot easier to play , and super cc beast
Usually I dont vibe with high apm classes but I take it for granted on zerker

Can someone help me understand, Mukluk often complains about a class dropping boon uptime during invulnerability phases, but… especially for quickness, why would you care about having boons up during an invulnerability phase? You can’t use them anyways, nobody is dealing dps during an invulnerability phase
Yeah it's not really an issue, it's more a QOL thing. If you hold boons during an invuln phase, there won't be a 'ramping up' when the boss becomes vulnerable again, which might effectively give your squad an additional 2-4 seconds of peak DPS over another build. Builds like qHerald are really good at just shitting out boons even during an invuln phase.
for quick and pure dps boons the only problem is ramp up when you can hit again. But defense boons during invul phase can be usefull depending on fight. And alac ofc is needed 100% of time, invul phase or not
1 - if you dont have 100% uptime, many tryhards think you arent doing a good job. So perception is a thing
2 - it can have an impact if once the invulnerable phase is over and everyone starts unloading again, if they dont have quickness back on them instantly
3 - such low uptime also means that any time the group splits up (maybe red circles on everyone or something) they lose quickness, so dps drops, and heals slow down
The moment the boss is vuln again, people want to burst. Cant do that proberly without quickness. At worst, it´s you having to wait for the Berserker form CD, press headbutt to fill your Adrenalin( which could also be on CD or you press Your signet for a dps lose) and then press your burst.
That a ass load of time until people get quickness.

I am not really a fan of warrior tbh...
But what must be said about boons is that a boon support that cannot provide its boon in downphases quickness is not nearly as crippling as alac.
In downtimes there is not often the need to hit anything for anybody so quick does not do much there

But obly elitists care about that
Alac instead is crippling if the boon support does not continue to do its job
But on the flipside quick is extremely vital at the beginning of the fight - any delay (even a second) will drastically decrease the groups performance

Are you thinking about condi quick? Cele+firebrand runes on power quick makes no sense.

on my qdps I use long bow + sword/tourch. Someone can name it as condiqdps. I do strikes with that build, and like it.
@@bn.liberte2370 yeah but there's a line of when it's actually worth replacing the boon bringer, because if your condi quickness with firebrand rune does 20k dps then yeah well you can take on regular fracs and strikes but in CM mode people probably won't take you in. Because you have a qdps herald that can bring in perma quickness, on top of basically almost perma prot along with 25 might and constant fury, whil still doing more dps.
QZerker needs to be tweaked for sure.

One of the people in my guild runs the condi version and it falls off just as much as you and she's played it for a while since she loves warrior. It's just the nature of how it plays and there's not really much you can do if you're not fighting essentially a target dummy.
I refuse to play zerker as a support and in pve I have kept zerker up for the entire knaelbag fight (yes, even though the eyes of nourys as well) it’s not suited for anything other than pure dps. APM on zerker will have to always be high because of zerker mode.
If I was a warrior kind of guy instead of a filthy mesmer main, I would probably play this, I always get bored by builds that are all about pressing one button once in a blue moon (*cough*mechanist*cough*). I suppose pressing a button real good pleases some primal part of my brain.

I had to give up on warrior, all the specs are annoying to run except power spellbreaker. Hope Anet figures out what they want to do with the damn class. And you didn't play it wrong, like you said you do so much work for such little return, in boons AND damage. If you're not a crackhead with berseker your damage is gonna be crap.
I've would say, it was a mistake to learn quickness power berserker with axe/axe+gs.
It's easier to learn with axe/axe+flex pick.
If you hate headbutt self stun, you could use shattering blow instead of outrage.
Flex pick of choice with axe/axe could be ofc gs for damege, rifle for range or mace for more breakbar.
It's true that berserker have phasing, but the cd on rage isnt as bad as it used to be.
Best way to refill is to either use axe 5 or headbutt.
Fundamental of learning axe/axe is, axe 2 or 4 + 1 or 3 then f1, axe 5 then f1.

Could you just do a macro on your mouse to hit F1 along with another button, maybe? Essentially spamming F1 while you did other stuff? Lol
i would say, it isnt f1 spamming, but know when to f1 is the problem. think like a fighting game. Combo attack: Axe 2 - Axe 3 - F1, Axe 4 - Axe 3 - F1

My least favorite warrior spec. It makes Catalyst seem mellow.
I tried quickness Berserker for a week or so. I'm never playing it again, it's absolutely atrocious to play. Quickness Catalyst feels much better.
So I play warrior as my main since I started around 8 years ago. I'm very casual player that does not engage nearly at all with any "competitive" contenet (raids,strikes,fractals..)
I had the same berserker build since PoF :) it worked great for the open world pve so there wasn't really any reason for me to change. Like ~3 weeks back I looked up current builds, changed to THIS and hooly shit. It is a button-mash-fest for sure, but I kind of like to be honest. You know big numbers = dopamine. But after hearing that you barely made above 20K dmg I fee like ...wtf do mesmers and other high dps classes do? Are they that overtuned?
You are not a qdps, your are a dps that gives yourself quickness, and sometimes to others. It's the same view I have on firebrand. They have other great qualities, but quickness boon uptime on an entire party is not one of them.
Also it's funny, I hated heal specter so much, that I made a heal zerker. At least the healing part is much easier, as it all happens within a decent radius around you. So just hug the screaming, tooting, stick smashing berserker and you will be fine. No need for that target specific ally nonsense.
Yea... expected this. If you hated Quick Heal Zerker, there's no way you'll enjoy this one anyway.
Berserker is interesting in that most builds you want to turn auto attack off since 1 is bad for your rotation.
As the design team have mentioned off-handedly, they don't have a vision for warrior in general, and this build proves it to me. They just stuck a tiny bit of quickness onto bursts without considering its usability and called it a day. You can use it, and it's easy if you're quick enough, but other quickness providers have a bit more to offer, and have ranged capability. Call it a skill issue, but melee support feels like such a struggle in the current design of encounters, that I would give anything for the Great Hydrated One to just try it for himself and see how bad it feels. Might try the condi one though, but that has it's own share of quirks.

I love Berserker in theory but the APM requirement is just too much for me esp. on bosses with movement and invulnerability phases.
Also that you can cancel the axe 5 by simply moving.
You're thinking of Ranger, you can move during Warrior axe 5

So as a main Zerker player I have to criticize your points u made @ like 8:30. So it IS button mashy, but watching your video (Im sorry but) youre just slow at it. AND I rly dont think the uptime statistically speakin is relevant, as Q is always up when the boss is vulnerable (I mean what would you want with boons when u cannot hit the boss anyways, not to mention many bosses have ads in the invulnerability phases on which u can use burst skills) cuz bringing it back up if done properly takes around 0.3 seconds. Not to say invulnerability phases arent an issue, but u just have to keep using outrage off cooldown to keep up the berserker mode, PLUS if you dont bring the crit signet (remember youre a boonsupp not a dps) but the wild blow, it ALSO extends the berserker mode. So if done properly u dont run out of berserker mode time, have CC on demand and Q uptime WHEN its actually needed, PLUS beating an easy 27kDPS+
Summing this up, I rly see why people may dislike it, but that doesnt nessecarily makes it bad
As a berserker main I can tell you for a fact that a berserker player's physical pain increases their DPS.
Your elitist bias on Warrior Build's isn't just showing, your glowing with it. When you said you don't play warrior because they're basically fodder, you downplay this profession, and that's fine I guess. Your entitled to your opinion. I enjoy Warrior, and while I can understand ppl want a specific boon build, I feel like ppl should just have fun with the game. But, that's a very ideological view.

while support dps for warrior is not that great I think is a class with a ton of versatility for regular dps, you need tons of CC or boonrip? go hammer spellbreaker, need condi? condi berserker (it cal also quick but with similar problems than this build) want a different flavour of damage? swap to bladesworn and go brr. and a full support build is cooking but not that viable yet with staff... so, really versatile high apm class thats fun to use (if you fancy it) buuut... it is awful when a mechanist out dps you by pressing 3 buttons every other week
