Two Fisherfield Munros from Poolewe: Part 2

  • I’d walked the 10 miles from Poolewe to Carnmore Bothy the day before and set up camp near the bothy. I walked up the well made stalkers path for the two Munros A' Mhaighdean and Ruadh Stac Mòr.
    The Fisherfield Forest is described as the great wilderness and A'Mhaighdean is known for being the remotest Munro with the best views. The views literally took my breath away!
    The Munros took 7.5 hours leaving from and returning to the bothy.
    These 2 Munros left me with just 3 before compleation. A great way to finish off my 28 day road trip.
    My videos are not intended to be an exact guide to any hill, mountain or low level walk featured in the video. I don’t cover every aspect of the route, terrain or difficulties.
    Please refer to walkhighlands.co.uk or the book by the SMC, The Munros - Hillwalking Guide, for detailed walk descriptions.
    Stay safe out there and enjoy! 😊

    Having followed your journey of the Munros, at least in part, I actually found the part where you had your arms raised facing out to the lochs, to be quite an emotional scene. I know to have almost completed the Munros, you have put so much hard work into it - not only to do the climbing, but taking us along with you. I am sure all of your viewers are so proud of you. Well done!

      Thanks so much Kenneth. I’d been looking forward to these 2 for so long & they didn’t disappoint. Rather than shed a tear, I had a big smile on my face for most of the day. I think I’ll be a bit emotional on my final Munro tho! 👍

    What a wonderful achievement, well done. Thank you for the two videos, as I will be walking that route to Ullapool. I have decided to walk up A' Mhaighdean, weather permitting, and your video was an excellent tutorial for me and helped to settle some nagging questions I had.

    From the causeway I'd seen this upward tack (studied it on 3D google maps and looked amazing); actually spoke to a couple who'd come down the track having wandered around where you are. By the time I'd reached the causeway It was enough for me (considering I had the return hike to Poolewe to complete). Thanks for sharing this, as I'd been wondering how the views were from up top.

    hi there, first off, incredible 2 videos on Fisher field, I know that you have said your videos are not exact guide, but I want to thank you for all the footage, as you have shown a lot of the terrain in good detail so for that thank you 👏 I have been toying with the idea of a wild camp and taking the same exact route you did from Poolewe, could I just ask two questions
    1. do you know if there was mobile phone signal when in fisherfield itself on the mountains and the wild camp etc (just asking for safety concerns etc incase I needed to call someone or emergency services)
    2. could you "bike in" on the stalkers path from poolewe? by that I mean was it a good enough path that it could be cycled on? reason I ask this I would be slight under time pressure walking and I just wanted to know if i could cycle some of the way to the causeway etc
    but in closing STUNNING footage and thanks for taking us on a journey. great job

    • @LindaOutdoors
      @LindaOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Roy, thank you so much 🙏 No phone signal at all in the Fisherfield low level but there was 4G on the summits, enough for me to post on Instagram 😂 & send a text!
      Depending on your bike skills you could cycle all the way to the causeway. A definite track all the way to the end of the forest & then a path. Hope that helps. 👍

      @@LindaOutdoors honestly no problem, really good quality footage and also naration etc 😎, gave me more of a "feel" of the place that maps cant do (despite having improved in last decade or so) regards the bike thats good news, also that there is some phone signal IF you were absolutley desperate for it (hopefully that would not arise tho) standing on Sliochs summit in 2003 I remember looking into the Wilderness thinking "whats going on in there?" your videos really come close to answering that without venturing in...but someday, venture in I will 😁 did you need permition etc to camp? as I have heard the land is very jealously guarded (at least according to the guide books)

    I'm up in that area next year and I was wondering, in order to have a go at these two from Poolewe in one day, is it possible to mountain bike from Poolewe to the causeway? The full out and back route is around 25 miles which is too much for me in a day but the use of a bike might make it doable.

    • @LindaOutdoors
      @LindaOutdoors  9 місяців тому

      Yes, you can definitely mountain bike into the causeway. The was an endurance mountain bike race on when I was there. The track gets much rougher as you head into the wilderness though so you might have to get off & push at certain bits. Enjoy. 👍
