You guys, are in my book of friends. You HEAR the music and words. Such an emotional song. Listened to this so much summer of 1975...I was 15, she was 17. Yeah, I'm ancient. This music is partly why I've been with this most wonderful woman for over 47 years and married 45. I'm 63, she's 65.
What a wonderful story to share. This song also has a special place in my heart. ❤️❤️
@@amandastanley2781 Thank you. We just went through Covid together, and we still Love each other!!
Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics and Elton wrote the music to it. Both are so gifted!
They did a good job conveying the effort and feeling of Bernie and Elton when creating this song in the movie Rocketman... check out that scene.
Bravo for Bernie Taupin, Elton's lyrical partner of more than 40 years. Bernie was only 17 when he wrote this. 17!!! Can you believe that? Together with Elton's composition...magic!
It's Elton John and nothing else needs to be said. So brilliant and so talented. He has had so many hits and they are truly remarkable.
Elton John is a brilliant composer! Love the contrabass and how the drums entered. Bernie's lyrics are always perfect."Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" from the Yellow Brick Road album is amazing and intense.Beautiful, emotional reaction guys - thanks!!
Fifty years on and this classic still manages to bring water to the eyes. One of the great love songs of a generation.
Tiny dancer 👌
Bro's, You'll love his "Bennie And The Jets", "Someone Saved My Life Tonight", "Philadelphia Freedom" and "I'm Still Standing"!! And about 20 more!!!
edit- "Your Song" was his first hit song in 1970. Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics of most of Elton's songs.
Don’t forget his most rock track Saturday night’s alright for fighting 🤘
Guys. Imagine being in high school and being in love, and being able to play this song for your girl. I had that. Thank you Elton John.
The song is impeccable. Your reaction was brilliant!
This was Elton's first hit and still my favorite of his.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, gentlemen. Beautiful song, heartfelt reaction. Keep well, my friends.
I love this song by Elton John, it's one of my favourites, his first hit song which came out in 1970. It's so melodic, beautiful and just a wonderful song. Other great songs are Candle in the Wind, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, I'm still Standing, Crocodile Rock, gosh, there are just so many. Thanks for a great reaction, guys, it was so interesting and enjoyable. Gosh, I can't imagine a world without music, you can always find music to suit whatever mood you're in, it can uplift you, calm you down or just make you feel good, that's the beauty of it. I'm so glad you enjoyed this song, guys, take care now, keep safe and all the best. 😊👍
His first big hit and still one of his best. His “Tumbleweed Connection” album is a masterpiece.
His first 4 albums and the soundtrack from The movie Friends , are all masterpieces!
@@joelliebler5690 I agree. Loved the movie “Friends” and the soundtrack.
My favorite of all his albums. Everything up through Yellow Brick Road was great, Caribou had some really good stuff, too (especially 'Ticking'). For my tastes, after that he became much more 'commercial' and he lost that soul that he had earlier, though there were still some good songs. Just my personal opinion.
@@NoviJimB Agree. “Ticking” was indeed brilliant. Forgot about that one!
@@NoviJimB I agree 100%!
Elton John and George Michael "don't let the sun go down on me" is iconic
Love early Elton so much ! It’s hard to imagine a better love song, but he put out another that’s at least as good for the Tumbleweed Connection album called “Love Song”. He must have been sprinkled with fairy dust or something !
Heard this song all my life, still feels like the first time and still brings tears to my eyes
ELTON JOHN, "YOUR SONG". As I remember this was his first hit in the United States. Heh, he never had to look back. Sir Elton John was born... beautiful!
Must must do,
Funeral for a friend/ Love lies bleeding, LIVE, it's amazing!
I believe Sir Elton has said this is the one song he never gets tired of singing. Classic. Always has been my fav of his.
Such a beautiful song, a beautiful reaction. Elton John has such a fantastic collection!
Elton John. Greatest ever
When this was released in the US (1970), I was 19 years old, and then 20 when "Tiny Dancer" (on the 'Madman Across The Water' album) came on the scene (1971). After over 50 years they are still my two favorite songs from Elton John and Bernie Taupin. 🎶💖 BTW, I really enjoy watching your reactions to all the songs of my life's soundtrack!👍✨✌ Keep feeling the music!
One of the sweetest songs - it instantly calmed me from the first few notes and then moved me to tears by the end with feelings of nostalgia . Thank you, thank you for this lovely reminder that there is still beauty in this crazy, harsh world.🦋Love your genuine reactions!
This was played at every dance when I was in junior high school, even though it was a few years old by then.
Elton John will always be part of the soundtrack of my youth.
John/Taupin is one of the most productive, successful and enduring song-writing partnerships in pop culture of the last 70 years. Their general method is rather interesting. Taupin writers a lyric - a poem, really - and when he's done he gives it to Elton, who then finds musical ideas and structures that complement whatever thoughts or sentiments are in the words. They don't really write together, it's usually this two stage process. But the words definitely come first, and provide the spark to Elton's musical imagination; and without the words, there would be no songs.
What a team! It's lucky for all the millions of fans of Elton John that these two guys got together and created so many wonderful songs with their individual talents.
Very beautiful voice. Absolutely love Elton John!!!❤
I know that when this song just came out, I was 14 years old then, and it gave me goosebumps, every time listening, and it still does. 🎶🎶
Mr Elton John...... master at work 50 yrs of gifts to us!
Genius is too small of a word. Otherworldly.
I remember this song was Rush Limbaugh’s 2nd wife’s favorite song and the one she thought of as their relationship song. So, as a wedding gift, Rush surprised her with Elton SHOWING UP IN PERSON at their reception to perform this for her/them… CAN U IMAGINE?!!!🙀
One of the best songs in popular music history. It's brilliant.
1974. I was gifted Elton's Greatest Hits album for my 10th birthday. I loved this one & "Crocodile Rock" the most.
It’s so beautiful you forget he say “But Boy if I did” at the start. It’s a love song to another boy.
"Madman across the water", "Someone saved my life tonight", "I guess that's why they call it the blues",
"Mona Lisa's and mad hatters", "Sad Songs", "Little Jennie", "Island Girl"...
Played this during the slideshow at my wedding
I just saw Elton John on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour 2 nights ago in Vancouver, BC and it was absolutely amazing. One of my all time favorites and I'm so lucky to have been there to witness it. This was one of his encore songs. Such a legend!
"Those are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen". Man, what a lyric and what a delivery.
its like this guys :- when Elton se words, he ses notes within him automatically! he said that on tv once. thats on a level of special angels are!!!!!
One of the best of love songs from Sir Elton John, hands down!
Elton is a world class artist, so glad you have a chance to experience him. Great great song and great reaction y'all!
THIS WAS MY SONG TO MY GIRLFRIEND IN 7TH GRADE YOU GUYS, IT WAS IN 72, I WAS JUST 12 BUT STILL, SHE MELTED, LOVED IT! 😊
This song brings back great memories as a teenager in the early 70’s on late nights sitting around the fireplace with friends listening to songs like this off his self titled and Tumbleweed Connection albums. Early Elton John songs are so incredible.
His early albums are phenomenal. Madman Across the Water is his best for me.
I'm not ashamed to admit I cry every time I hear this every single time it touches everyone the same way you guys are right there is no way it cannot.
One of my favorite Elton songs. I just love his early music the best! ❤
The lyrics are by the wonderful songsmith Bernie Taupin. The song is 52 years old and still beautiful. Great reaction guys
A perfect song. Is, was and always will be.
As you mentioned this was his first hit and it instantly stood out as an incredibly beautiful love song when I first heard it in 1970. It's a masterpiece that still can move me by its beauty.
The one, sorry seems to be the hardest words, something about the way you look to nigth, they are masterpieces of another music legend such as Elton John
Aaah I remember when this came out, a lovely new song by new artist Elton John. Loved it then, it stands up.
Man, Elton John has always been among my favorite artists pretty much forever. Bernie Taupin wrote nearly all of his lyrics, and is perhaps the best lyricist from the era, matched only by Paul Simon IMO. EJ would read the lyrics and have music for them in under 20 minutes. If something didn't come to him naturally in that time, he would discard the lyric and try another.
The thing that blows me away is that he was pretty consistently putting out 2 albums a year for the early to mid 70s, with no "filler" songs; and he composed, arranged, and recorded them all himself. Each song is unique, and the music supports the story being told by the words. Most other bands at this time had multiple people writing their songs, and did not manage to produce this many quality albums. For this reason, I am compelled to believe that Elton John was the best composer of the era.
A perfect song. One of my all time favorites that will live on for an eternity!
This song was just the start of so many wonderful songs!
You should do "MONA LISAS AND MAD HATTERS" will give you that feeling as well, and so many other Elton John songs
Incredible song. EJ and songwriter Bernie Taupin were a dream team just like you two. I could listen to piano melodies like that all day long, they flow so organically.
I was little when this came out; I loved it then and will love it forever.
Elton John is just the best.
I remember when Princess Diana died, they said this was her favorite song.
I think this was his very first hit, at least here in the USA.
I love you guys! You really feel the music! Thank you for your genuine reactions to songs from my youth. ❤️
Another Elton favorite of mine...Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word is so beautiful. It makes me cry every time.
Probably my favorite EJ song, and probably the first one of his I ever heard.
One of my favorites by sir Elton
5:33 You are so right. Thank you for this great reaction. Besides the melody, he finds unique chords on his piano that so often make me cry 😂 and they're not even sad songs. My favorites are Madman Across the Water(1971)r, Indian Sunset (1971), Where To Now St. Peter?(1970)
Great to see you both enjoy and appreciate these classic 70’s songs. This was one of Elton John’s first hit songs. Great reaction bros.
You guy’s have to listen to “Ticking” by Elton! It’s a very serious song. He told an audience at a show this song is more important now than when we wrote it! Gun violence is the story! Great great song and piano! You won’t be disappointed trust me 👍🏻🌻👌🏻
Great suggestion, Ticking has been my favourite Elton John song for years.
Ahhhh. Tumbleweed Connection, what an album!! ❤
Taupin/John duo had me hooked from day 1.
Fav would be "Madman Across the Water" if you haven't already.
Blessed to have seen him 3 times, different decades. 😁
It's a pleasure to watch you hear/see and enjoy beautiful and great music!!
Stay well and safe. ❤👍🏽
His first big hit. Boom Shaka Laka. Thank you
One of my favorite songs! I remember when this came out, I was in 6th grade.
One of my 10 favorite love songs (another, Thank You, led Zep). The first time I heard this was a cover by 3-Dog Night, but hearing EJ perform it makes it even more special, thanks Bros! 🥰
ONE OF HIS VERYYYYY 1ST HITS GEORGE AND PATRICK, ALONG WITH ( SKYLINE PIGEON ) JUST BEAUTIFULLLLLL 😊 ( NO PUN ) STUFF GUYS! THIS SONG WAS BACK IN 70 SO 😊SO YEAH, BERNIE WRITES THE LYRICS, PRESENTS THEM TO ELTON, AND THEN ELTON WOULD WRITE THE MUSIC VERY QUICKKKKKK, YOU KNOW VERSE / CHORUS / BRIDGE ETC! 😊JUST ABSOLUTE BRILLIANCE AND QUITE UNIQUE THE WAY THEY DID IT.
This song makes me cry every time.
Such a beautiful song…. Agree…. Melody! Creativity, talent, unique, great music! The Beach Boys have a song on their “Sunflower” album called “Add some music to your day” The lyrics to that song sum up all that you were saying about listening to music! Thank you…Enjoyed your reaction 💙😀
Great reaction, guys! Elton is my all-time favorite. You need to hear Levon, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, and Empty Garden (written in memory of John Lennon). Keep up the good work!
Mike and the Mechanics and their song, In The Living Years… official video. Such a great song. You’ll love this song… powerful lyrics ,powerful message meant for every living soul…including you brothers. It’s time to do this song guys.
He has so so so many good songs!
This is def one of his 5 best songs of the 100s he’s written.
Gorgeous, soulful.
I’m telling you: you MUST listen to the song “Shine” by Charles & Eddie ♥️
I can promise you’ll LOVE it 😁
Beautiful reaction and song! I think you would swoon over Sara Bareilles’ live cover of Elton’s “ Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Elton considers it the best version.
I saw him live, a couple of years ago. It was unreal! I couldn't believe I was there. I have one vid on my channel, of him doing Bennie and the Jets. Sorry for all the screaming lol I couldn't control myself lol Paul McCartney had been my all-time fave concert... now... Idk! Love them both!!
"How wonderful life is now that you're in the world." to me is the big line, but there are several great phrases in this ditty. Elton is brilliant with the music (composing and performing) and Bernie is brilliant as a lyricist. 0-:
Just discovered you guys! Great reaction ❤️ This is the song for my 6 year old son. He literally thinks its "his song" 🥺😭
Guys, I was so moved by hearing this song again that I forgot to mention a couple other suggestions: "Try a Little Tenderness" Otis Redding live at Monterey Pop Festival 1967, "Song for You" Leon Russell, "Loan Me a Dime", live Boz Scaggs (Duane Allman played on Boz's first album) "Melissa" Allman Brothers. Stay safe Brothers❤
Well, life is pretty wonderful 'cause you're in world. Love your show! It has heart.
And damn good music!!
Madloba!
You guys (Bro's) have an amazing channel.
I have gone back and watched probably
30 of your reactions !! I Love it. You both
Have great talks about the music 🎶🎶.
Take Care, sending you Big hugs ❤️❤️
t on it -a hell of a debut as i recallhis is from the first album the title track is also great=madman across the water alos has levan and tiny dancer
Love Elton!! I seen him in concert a few years back and he was absolutely amazing. Can you please react to his song Blessed? So good. Great reaction!! 🙂
Guys, mid 70’s Yellow Brick Road, Captain Fantastic,Don’t shoot me, Caribou, Rock of the Westies 5 classic Albums in 5 years, EJ at his peak IMHO, check out Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting, I’ve seen that Movie Too, Grey seal, island Girl, we all fall in love sometimes/Curtains The Bitch is back, you’re so static, Daniel, Have Mercy on the Criminal plus all the other suggestions 😊 But a great starting point to a wealth of classic songs
You have to back to 1971 for me with his Madman Across the Water album. It's definitely my favourite with some of his best songs.
Hi there, the guys have reacted to a few Elton John songs so far, apart from Your Song, they've reacted to Rocket Man, Sacrifice and Daniel. I'm sure they will be doing many more! 👍
I just wish they'd react to some of his lesser known album tracks. What about Tower of Babel, The Ballad of Danny Bailey, Holiday lnn, My Father's Gun, The Ballad of the Boy in the Red Shoes for instance.
Great composers have songs that sound better with each listening, Elton John and Mark Knopfler are two of the very best. I could play this and Romeo and Juliet on repeat all day long.
You Make Me Feel Brand New by the Stylistics would be the perfect song to follow this one! You’ll love it! Live version. The video where the guys are all wearing matching suits. Dark blazer with white pants is the live version you should do. Powerful song with powerful lyrics and amazing vocals. You won’t be sorry!
This whole album is just beautiful❤
Oigan ustedes me hacen sentir que somos varios los que podemos emocionarnos escuchando buena musica gracias por reaccionar a estas obras maestras
My first concert at Universal Ampatheatre a long time ago. Thanks for reminding me of it. Cheers from LA
Elton John and Bernie Taupin do not know how to make a bad song, and their 50 plus year collaboration proves it
Elton wrote the music. Bernie wrote the lyrics. Wonderful team
Elton was only 20 when he wrote that melody. More amazingly, Bernie Taupin was only 16 when he wrote the lyrics!
As beautiful today as it was when it first came out 52 year ago!
My favorite Elton John song; just beautiful. I fell in love when it first came out.
Oh you guys will love this one cannot wait to watch love you
Hey, letting you know, Queen just dropped a new song yesterday, with Freddie singing. A song Brian and Roger discovered from 1988.
Please react to it.
Facing it all alone? Heartbreaking.
"A Song for You" by Leon Russel is in the same emotion, but perhaps more "Down to the bone" emotional. Hey I like you guys! You feel it!!
Elton John is my first memory of music. I was like 6 years old in 1975. It was intense.
