You need to cut that 2 pin plug off and rewire it so the wire are NOT exposed.! i couldn't believe you spent all that time restoring that pedestal drill, and then left the wires exposed on the 2 pin plug😱😱😱😱
Hello, why do you never use grease for all the assemblies ? Grease would preserve all you hard work restoring this, it would enhance the mechanical movements and prevent the rust from attacking the bare sand blasted metal and ruin everything !
Grease would hold on to every bit of metal shavings or wood chips that it it contacts. A light machine oil or, as she does, paint protects well enough if kept up. In a sealed area of the tool, sure.
Nice to see you are wearing protective gear... Gloves, Respirator, Eye Shield. But no gloves when painting, paint is toxic and absorbed through the skin...Protecting yourself is more important than the machines!

Just imagine how much smoother the shaft would have gone up & down if you had of applied some grease..?? I've noticed you NEVER grease anything, or apply and WD40 etc, anywhere..!! Also instead of bashing the livin suitcase out of the pulley with a metal claw hammer, distorting the shape of it, and running the risk of breaking it. Why not use a large socket over the top of it, and hit the socket with your trusty claw hammer..?? You could then get it the rest of the way on with a cold chisel in the middle of the pulley.
Please, someone give her some decent mechanics gloves that fit! I'm amazed she is so dextrous in those huge unwieldy things, but it must be frustrating for her.
You don’t need the pattern if you already have the perfect example in front of you. It’s called reverse engineering. The number of wires in the windings is important and she will have to count them. I would probably take a photo before tearing it apart, but then again, I’m not a university graduate in hydroelectric engineering. She’s pretty smart.

The rebuild is done by an engineer. The colours say that the engineer is female ❤
