I had a dr 500 for many years, and that was a very good bike. It had a manual decompression lever. The biggest weakness on that bike was the needle roller bearings for the swing arm. They would disintegrate if you even looked at a dirt road. Starter bendixes fail because the decompression system no longer works properly, which is usually attributed to the relay not working. As part of the maintenance this should be checked routinely. The bike will go forever if it's maintained, and looked after properly.
My 750 has a problem. When I start the engine , idle works good but when I put the first gear and I am ready to leave the clutch the bike run off. What is your opinion about that ?

Yep, they been pass to various people over the years, but these old one cylinders, being restrored by some now :)
Turn off the bike with the decompression lever and the gears lasts forever. The coil failed on my old Dr750 too. Good luck!
Thank you for the advice, ill keep it in mind and will share with customers :)
I had same bike, while away ask my brother to warm it up, he broke the idling gear no1, it's available on cms part, Suzuki still manufactured it.
Hi :)
The gears are weak link :) But otherwise its a good bike :)
The Dakar DrBigs had kickstarters...ditch your electric starter and put on a kickstarter!

Hello. what does "run off " means ? Shuts off/ stalls or jumps foward ?
Are those problems solved on the dr800??
Hello, probably so ... customers only look for those parts for 750.
Do these bikes have a kickstarter?
Hello, i seen some people that put one in :)
