This video is a little (while, maybe not little!) behind the scenes action of a passion documentary project that I am pushing to make my main project which is around the topic of Autism. The reason for "no crew" is budget. This is a project I am funding out of my pocket so we have to do the best we can with the skills that we have. You can follow this journey here / parentsofthespectrum
Special thanks to my BTS shooter Jay / jayholyfield_

Love this BTS. Seems like these days BTS is edited more than the final video to take out the "raw-ness". This felt like i was on a job shadow and enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks again Marcus. Looking forward to seeing your journey on this documentary.
Bruh I’m not the only one discovering the Con of owning so much gear as a one man band 😂
This wasn’t even a lot to be honest. Stairs are just the devil! Lol
I am always amazed with how people think and move on set. I love seeing you talk to yourself in your head haha. Maaaannn if that’s not me 😂🔥🔥
hahahaha! Glad to know Im not crazy!
Phenomenal work brother, always. I really enjoyed this ✅
This might be the best BTS I've seen! It was a doc & a lesson & a product showcase all in one. Lol.
Sheesh man, thanks! I wanted to try to do things different and do more of an unpolished raw behind the scenes look at this project. I’m glad u enjoyed it. More to come
This was fantastic. You perfectly demonstrated what solo doc shooters go through. Just subscribed.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you for sharing this
💯💯💯💯💯💯
loving the content nice to see how you work!
I appreciate that bro. Trying to do something out here on this YT thing. Lol
This is nice
Thanks
Great video lots of gems in here. Thank you for showing us your process, you truly have a genuine love for this and it shows 🔥🫡
Great content. You really brought us
On set, thank you for letting us shadow you on this amazing project! I loved how you problem solved, shooting in a living environment.
That was great!
Thanks 🙏🏾
This was awesome. Appreciate you taking us behind the scenes. Being flexible is key and the way you adapted to the space was brilliant. Home run fam!
That is a lot of work Marcus. It is a passion project indeed and so many moms (and dads) will appreciate this. It was also a little training for me to see how things work from a tech perspective 😊 Thanks for sharing with us!
Man! Wow. Great BTS! I picked up that light meter app you were using. I am still rocking the FS5MIIs and always struggle to get a good WB. This app will definitely help. Also, I wanted to comment on how great your demeanor was with this client. Great rig and great way to show how you capture not only the interview but also some b-roll.
Man I appreciate that! Yeah we are in their homes you know. We are the guests. If though it’s a production I always try to respect their home and be as nice as possible mainly because I would want that same treatment. 💯💯💯
Oh and let me know how that app works for u. It’s not 100% accurate but it’s close.
@@MarcusRFilms I purchased the lifetime use for the app which was only $10 and a great deal considering the cost of a light meter. I was just testing it out with my Godox SL200II with 48" EZ Lock Glow softbox with grid light against using a standard white balance from my A7SIII, I found it to be pretty close. Granted, it is using optics, and the space is fairly large; one would have to be careful how they trust it. I also just tested it now with the light to my back using a white balance card about where I would have my subject and I think it does even better. One of the challenges with any white balance is that we are never in a white environment so the temps will always be different. I think it is an easier use to just grab my iPhone 15 Pro and test against the white balance card as it is easier because our camera is never right near the subject, so it is simple to grab the card and hold the app's box up to the card. I think for my use, it will work pretty well. I almost like this better than the 18% grey card I was using. Also, depending on your filming style, I use SLOG3, so you don't have to be perfect. Thanks for this video. Real-life videos are so much more on the spot than proctored UA-camr vids by folks who often never are out in the field.
@@MarcusRFilms I think if you use the app right against a white balance card it is within about 100 or so Kelvin +/-.
Great bts bro!! Love it
Thanks to the homie Jay!
This is a blessing that ur doing this
Thanks 🙏🏾 We feel like we were designed and chosen for this.
@@MarcusRFilms how do we see the finish product?
@@filmzfilmz follow me here and on IG.
love to see it!
Great video man. Just subbed.
What filter did you slap on the lens ?
Thanks! Irix makes magnetic filters for their lenses
Maybe I missed it, who’s conducting the interview here, and how did you two work together on the direction?
I’m a filmmaking dad of an autistic child here in Houston! I’ll follow along. Keep it up. 👍
My wife is running the interview and i also ask questions as well. We will be posting more about these projects on our IG page instagram.com/parentsofthespectrum/

I just downloaded that app. Very cool. Are you aiming at a white piece of paper for a read or just the subject/room? I did it both ways and got very different results. Handy though. My C70 WB is very different from camera. In the same room setting I get 4800 -3 WB from the camera and 5350 -1 from the app?
Im aiming towards the light source. It being an app I don’t take it for face value however, its close so it helps get me close to here I need to be and then I can make some adjustments in post. Play around with it some to study its strengths and weaknesses.
@@MarcusRFilms 80% of the time I know about what it should read and use the Canon LCD screen for the look. Usually if it looks good there I'm good. Curious to see your finished product here. That 45 lens is nice.
question! when you change camera position, do you ask the same questions again or just continue asking questions? stupid question, I know, but Im curious because Im a one camera (for right now) shooter also.
Because I’m the editor for this I already know how I’m going to insert these angles. So it depends. In this situation we only asked her for a closing remark. This part of the edit will be b-roll heavy. But on another project I did ask a few of the main questions (mostly the emotion ones) twice. The parent didn’t mind because it gave her another chance to answer non emotionally.
@@MarcusRFilms ahh thank you bro. That makes sense
Shooting in Log?
Yes
Marcus are your ND filters magnetic?🧲
Yes. Irix makes them for their lenses.
@@MarcusRFilms ok gotcha. Thank you. Irix lenses are out of my price range currently but one day I will be able to afford them. 🙏🏾
@@MrPfifeDawg keep grinding!! It took me 8 years to get here. U can get there sooner just keep grinding 💯💯💯
@@MarcusRFilms Thank you for the encouragement brother! Bless you!🙏🏾
