- Along with the Witcher 3 next gen upgrade, we’ve made a tips video that should help you get reacquainted with Geralt of Rivia. Here are 12 things The Witcher 3 doesn’t tell you!
Using mostly PS5 gameplay after the next gen update, we’ve taken a collection of tips we’ve dropped on our wiki over the years to create this Witcher 3 guide video. Rather than focus on just next gen features, we’ve tried to make this useful for everyone, and focus mostly on gameplay help.

The side quests about finding Ciri and defeating the Wild Hunt is great and all, but the main story about winning the Gwent tournament is even better.

Yes but there should have been a tournament you could play after getting a complete deck that would actually be a challenge and im not talking about the DLC deck cuz that's just garbage
Remember to try and learn Gwent, it might look difficult at first but trust me it's not, and once you learn about it there's a lot more sub-stories that you can experience in this game, it's 100% worth it.
So many impatient people have completely missed out.
Gwent are the best cards game in a game so fun.

do not speed run the game. take it in slowly and enjoy everything to the fullest.
All the side quests are different, totally worth doing them if you like story.
Definitely sleep with all of them. Definitely do that. Why? Because the fall out is hilarious and a sight to behold.
After all these years the witcher 3 is still so beloved by gamers of all platforms worldwide is impeccable.
For brand new players, you can look up alchemy builds from a ton of different channels. Alchemy+combat builds are the most lethal in the game. Especially when you unlock mutations and extra perk slots in Blood and Wine.

Imagine advising NEW PLAYERS to watch guides on builds and progression. Watching any sort of guides to singleplayer game will spoil your experience and make it less exciting

I’m a new player 😮
Just bought the game yesterday. I’m very excited, I’m a huge Skyrim fan with 100s of hours on it, and this seems like the next game that will garner those hours.

Dodge, dont roll unless you have to. Potions help a ton
Dodge the attack, keep the stamina. Roll only to get distance if you are low or trapped

You can safely romance Kira in every playthrough
You just can't romance both Triss and Yen
It's possible to romance both Triss and Yen and still get the Triss ending in B&W:
You can romance Triss, and then romance Yen ONLY during the first chance you get during the dinner. Then, you have to either ignore The Last Wish quest or tell her that the magic's gone, and then this won't lock you out of Triss ending in B&W

Max aard sign beside Quen since it can stagger enemies and you can always got an insta-kill

Body parts flying… frozen screams… and then *winds howling…*
You can also turn off the fish-eye and toggle colorblind assist.
And to newcomers, if you feel this game is to hard for you, just say this to the boss that is making trouble to you "How about a round of Gwent", everything will be solved immediately, guaranteed!!
Look at those beautifully dark backgrounds look at the characters look at the spooky and deep mood of the story it's awsome!
Two pieces of advice I'd give is don't believe every monster's sob story...and be a cool Dad to Ciri.
They reduced the amount of health you get by eating food by a ridiculous amount, you used to heal 50-80 health per second now is 10 which is literally nothing for a higher level character.
I’m happy with this tbh, it felt super cheesy to me tbh
@@lachlanc7092 it feels cheesy to heal with food? Wtf? For high level characters with over 5k health healing 50 per second was already really slow, but 10 is nothing, so this change made it so is pointless to use food at all in the game. Once again, WTF?
@@Eraghost It felt cheesy because the swallow potion also healed for 80
They also nerfed the ursine gear by a pretty decent amount.

The number one thing is not to turn on Ray Tracing on the PC if you want the game to actually run without crashing.
I’ve always liked the Alchemy Build and usually put my Skill Points in that!!!!
First time playing Witcher 3, and with the next gen update~ Loving it!
You should start with the first two
Downloading update...and jumping in again after 2years for the awesome journey.
Nice job but got some nasty glitches to work though dlc not working and sound bugs attacking and hitting enemies with weapons have no sound impact.
Just bought it for the first time on steam sale, have it downloading now, let's see how it goes
Use potions and oils. They replenish with time, you don’t have to keep making them.

also that when fighting wraiths, yrden is you lord and saviour.
Best advice for new players is to not look up tutorials. Play the game with your fresh eyes and adventure into the unknown!
There’s a lot of great advice for starting the game. But the best possible advice is stay in your lane. Stick to quests close to your level, as well as enemies.
A friend of mine tried to venture off early game and because he found it impossible to kill the wolves that were at a high level.. and made it boring just for trying to chew more than he could eat.
To new players who find this. Pick up EVERYTHING
quen doesn't remove status effects anymore. You don't take damage as long as it's active, but it will break really fast and then you will take damage from bleeding, burning and poison again
ive always found bombs lacking compared to potions and oils
Over 300 hours in the game and still never finished the main story. Now starting a 4th playthru on Switch, determined to just mainline and finish the game. Wish me luck. 😅
Entry #10 is incorrect. They game *does* tell you that horses galloping on the road does not lose stamina. Just after Geralt saves Bram the merchant from the griffin and he starts to ride after Vesemir again.
Does this game have any base building and npc recruits?

The game tells you can gallop on the road and it won't consume stamina, it says it on the loading screens hints.
Is it fine to loot inside villagers house when no one is seeing you ? looks so that it has no effect.
Annnnd IGN does it again. They name 12 things the game doesn’t tell you because it’s mostly common sense

Red Dead 2 is phenomenal in different ways. It’s a smaller package in a nicer looking photorealistic world whereas Witcher 3 is a massive RPG that you could poor easily over 500 hours into and maintains detail and high level story telling in nearly every single quest.
this game is nothing compared to RDR2
Turn off fish eye effect when using witcher senses in gameplay options and turn down the hair graphics so you don't get a performance hit and noodle hair.
First time ever playing this, bought for ps5 as always heard amazing things about it.. but it's alot of fetch quests lol

No actually it doesent.
It doesent tell u about using the crossbow underwater or holding a while galloping to save stamina. It doesent tell u how potions work. It tells u how to brew them but it doesent go into any kind of detail.

Any tips when it comes to deck building for gwent?
Play everyone in gwent. I'm pretty sure every npc will give a card once if you beat them, if not most
Witcher 3 Community knows that doping build is the go to if you want an easy gameplay

@@thelukos The Alchemy Build. It's called "doping" because you drink enhancement chemicals that boost you're strength which makes you almost unkillable in game. It's really an easy way to play as opposed to magic and swordsman build
It does tell you when winds are howling
Hope they also added companion mod in this game, the companion mod adds a new life in this game once the main story is over.
They didn't
That's like letting Geralt use a bow or make him a stealth assassin. That would totally destroy the immersion of the game.
@@Zaubsteryeah... I'm very new to the franchise but it's very obvious Geralt is meant to be a loner mercenary and that it's very important to the lore. U have friends u come across and make at times and might work with them but having a skyrim level companion acrually doesent make sense.

Actually the game says that crossbow have a lot of damage underwater and that quen protects you from bleeding and other harms in loading screen

Decoctions are a nightmare.I never use them because i'm saving them for dire situations...but those never come,I literally never had to use any of them in any situation.
So you can use them just to try out as well.
And not really having the mindset that you have to save them for special fights.
So you've never played Death March
@@Sassle16 played through the whole game in death march without that, its not like the game is hard.
Why would you save them? Meditating refills them so just use it haha
@@loveunit21 people don't realise that they refill, should be using them alot will make lots of fights much easier (that djinn)

it doesn't tell you that when you finish it you will feel empty and not know what to do with your time, you look for another game to fill the space but nothing compares to The Witcher 3

Just an update if you don't own game of the year edition or any of the dlc you get that all with the update for ps5/pc/series consoles

The PS5 update just polishes the already magnificent game, making it even more valid today with its insane art style and graphics. How is it possible that a 9-yr old, massive open world RPG with branching quests and narrative, extensive dialogue trees, dynamic AI and weather systems looks (looked) vastly better than a 2024 RPG? (Dragon's Dogma 2, 30FPS)
In many case yes. Storytelling its top notch, characters are great and memorable but if we talk "real" raw RPG Kingdom Come it's better. It's survival game in medieval times, you must eat, sleep, drink alkohol with priest 😮
They should have added the "more XP" mod, you get like 20XP for completing a side quest. Absolutely disgusting.
That's why you use EXP exploits
I'm not sure if they still work, but there's the cyclops exp glitch in skelege that will get you from lvl 25 to lvl 35 really quickly, the heart of stone expansion nekker nest that's the same as the cyclops, gets you from lvl 25 to 35 and the blood and wine exp and money exploit from the hanz gang hideouts

@@VergilTheLegendaryDarkSlayer Why are you telling people how to ruin their game? You get low XP when you’re a higher level. You can’t expect to mow down weaklings and expect a payout. Stick to quests that match your level if you don’t want to be disappointed.
Igni works on mounted enemies as well. The fire causes the horse to panic throwing them off.
And u get a free insta kill too if ur fast or close enough.

Yes the first 10 hours can be a bit boring, but the real story just started once you reach Novigrad, maybe Novigrad is the key for you to enjoy this game.
Same. For me it was the combat and the controls.
Play until you get to the Bloody Baron main quest. The story and dialogue will sink you in
Heres a tip, dont force yourself to play a game you dont like just because of the hype, itl save you loads of time playing games you do actually like.
All depends in your taste in games. not all like the same stuff even if the majority like it or hates it.
