If Nick's team were trying to block his appearance, he was most likely threatened with a law suit so, being the person he is and not used to giving interviews, did his best. I think he just was smart enough to realize that Nicki Minaj was better as a stand alone talent versus the group as a hold so he invested his time and energy into Nicki Minaj sort of like a manager with the expectations that he would have a better chance at making money in being Nicki's manager versus him being in a whack group. But hey, he shouldve been more about his business because money will never wake up and say "I dont love you anymore"
