Showing Rumba the rug. I believe that when getting a horse used to the rug its important to make sure they actually accept it and not just tolerate it. What you can see me do is first getting her used to have the rug make noise within her personal space. In the beginning you can see her have a bit of a reaction to the rug. When she stopped moving around, I took the rug away as a reward. You can see me doing this several times. After a while I decided to put the rug on her, on which she reacted the first time but after a while, she got calm and I could put the straps on. To get her used to moving around with the rug, as if it is the most normal thing in life that could happen to her, I let her trot a bit. I praised her a lot at moments she was calm, as you can see and we were really in this "together".
