Wow, they assembled the lyre before putting 324kg piano on the ground. Amazing !!

Idk why movers always do that.
It’s obvious you shouldnt rely on a little piece that’s not as strong as a leg.

Yeah, gave me a gut wrench too, but could not protest at the moment. Thankfully no harm came out of it. When moving the second time around though I asked my mover to use a piano tilter and install the third leg and I opted to install the lyre myself after they left!

Normally they do two legs and lyre and left the last one after turning into the horizontal position.

Hello, I just came across your channel. I am about to buy a new Kawai GX 2 as well. I was informed that before delivery, a brand new piano should be unboxed at the shop and went through a series of pre delivery service check list. Since your piano was unboxed at your own home, does it mean your new Kawai didn’t go through the pre delivery tuning and regulation?

Congratulations on getting your Kawai Grand! It’s a wonderful experience!
New Kawais don’t need much regulation as they have been extensively regulated at the factory and are usually devoid of any flaws. The tuner/technician will address any issues at your place before tuning.
The tuning should happen after delivery to the final destination, and only after 3-4 weeks so as to give the piano a chance to acclimate to the humidity level and temperature (BTW try to keep those semi-consistent from now on). In my opinion it’s a waste of tuning if the piano gets tuned at the shop as it will lose its tune quickly after delivery anyway. I would recommend 3 tunings during the first year of your piano.
I had also read extensive piano forums which talked about regulating a piano before delivery, but the new pianos (other than Steinways) just don’t work like that.
The only exception is if you insist on selecting between multiple new GX2s, in which case they should be unboxed and tuned so as you can hear the nuances. However, you’ll be amazed how difficult it is to detect much difference between different instances of the same model.

And you have to keep all the pack and wooden frame and arrange for the recycle trash pickup of local council.

The delivery folks were going to take them out of my hair (apparently it’s usual practice), but I asked to keep some of the packaging thinking I could use it during the next move, which is what I ended up doing.

@@Gauntlet1985 it’s a baby size grand. Should be ok. Grand always better than upright, yet you need a big space for its fully acoustic. I actually bought two brand new pianos at same time one upright in bedroom and the other grand 190s size in living room
