Conan didn't bet his dignity on the election like so many other late night comedians and "infotainers" did. Watching comedians cry over an election is cringeworthy and I'm glad Conan kept it cool.
It shows character to be real with how you feel, being "on the fence" to make everyone happy is being fake. I understand why they do it but it shouldn't be encouraged.
If you are an entertainer your job is first and foremost to entertain. People have enough in their own personal lives to be miserable about without tuning into a comedy show only to see people crying.
I think those other guys bet a lot more than their dignity. They'll be lucky not to get black-bagged by the Trump administration day one. That guy does not take mockery well and I'm not holding out hope that he'll go reasonable with power.

Sure, but it's also what should be the default position for every dault out there. Right now people seem to be regressing back to pre-kindergarden levels of reaction and argumentation.
I get why some people are upset. I still have my doubts about how funding for climate change investigations will be handled. I don't think anything will change when it comes to LGBT rights, at least I hope it doesn't. People forget they still carry a great amount of power when it comes to decision making throughout a president's term, not just during the election.

This is why I prefer Conan over Colbert. Where the latter and his audience don't even try to hide the fact that they're ALL the way to the left (for God's sake, they actually CHEERED when Colbert showed footage of the riots, no joke!), Conan and his at least know how to poke fun of each side, and while they too may be leftist, they still keep it down to a subtle and tasteful level.
Anthony Sanchez well said. I've watched Colbert way back and he never seemed this left. He sold his soul to cbs and I've since stopped watching Colbert and unfollowed him everywhere. Conan is universally loved and a student of history. Look how well he handled himself when the vast majority of his peers and others in his industry were acting worse than children. God bless you, Conan.
The one thing I always admired about Conan is on full display here. He didn't go for the cheap shots. The easiest thing in the world to do that night was bash Trump. Cheap, easy laughs while kissing the asses of the overly vocal liberals. He took the high road instead. This is why he is the funniest host, but also the most respectable. In 50 years when they look back on the greatest hosts of late night it'll be Carson, Letterman, Conan.

Sure, it's more democratic than Cuba but its pretty understandable that a lot of people are pissed off that their vote isn't worth as much as other people's. If you're a liberal in Texas or a conservative in New York, you get no influence on the election. And if you're a conservative in Idaho, your vote is worth about 3 times as much as a liberal in California. So I can see why people are pissed off.

I don't really understand it all that well and I was thinking it should be a popular vote too. But my mom was telling me, she's much older and wiser (supposedly) that without the electoral college all the big cities would basically control the election. Like Texas is supposed to be a red state but the main cities like Austin and Houston are mostly blue but the rest of the state is red. So to get a fair vote from all members of each state the electoral college runs a mini election in a way between the massive cities and the small towns. And LA and NYC are definitely mostly democrats and they're the largest populations of all. Montana and other small population state's votes would be lost in the crowd. I think that's the logic.
ramonypony but that's stupid. just count every individual vote. apparently that's what popular vote is and that's what is used in several other countries like mine (Portugal). and it seems a hell if a lot fairer if you ask me. every vote counts and every vote is the same because what you'd want is majority. one has more votes than the other. because even being a sympathizer with Trump's policies, after I saw Hilary would win with popular vote but lost anyways, I honestly thought it was rather unfair

This is why Conan is awesome. He can give a great, thoughtful analysis of the election without crapping on half the people in America. Unlike the rest of the late night hosts who are calling half the country racist. I mean, Seth Myers was literally crying on TV while calling people sexist over not voting for Hilary for the pure fact that she's a woman.

In all my days of pain, you always cheered me up and made me laugh...something not easy to do to a person in constant chronic pain. Happy Farmer They made sure he was perfectly safe. He was just scared or nervous or caught by surprise to be suddenly put in front of lights and a huge audience.
