Your videos have become my comfort videos when I’m not feeling the best. Seeing a fresh new video early this morning is exactly what I needed. Thank you for your amazing videos!
@match2012 yes. It does look very meaty! Sadly most usually only go for the cheap ones that are typically included in set meals because the cheaper ones already taste awesome!
Hi there, I am from Hong Kong and I am a seafood lover. Thank you so much for introducing Hong Kong seafood to the world. Your presentation and shooting are so great! Next time when you come Hong Kong, please let me know, I can be your tour guide!😜
Sonny spends over a grand on food, I watched this while having an Aldi minestrone cupa soup, made it taste so much better, great video. Mind you I live on the east coast of Australia near the tail end of the Great Barrier Reef & have tried Abalone & it was ok but we were spoiled for a choice in seafood.
He is the only chef I seen that handles rice noodle correct, not pulling and breaking the strand but just lifting with the fingers and separating from the bunch to a serving
To know Sonny was at Lei Yue Mun and I live next to it. It would have been amazing to meet you!! Thanks for showing the world such an amazing place! It is also a lovely place to walk through to the Ma Wan village and unwind from the busy HK lifestyle.
I actually like the chemistry between Sonny and Virginia as she's so polite, unlike from other lead females who acts clingy. I like her on-point elaborations as well, she's a proper food guide explainer ha-ha.
Sonny I love watching your video's, I am pretty sure I have binged watched all of them. I know when I need a laugh your there. I truly do love watching you and the fact that you eat what ever different tribes eat. oh I absolutely love seafood. Just had to tell you how much I love watching you and I think your hilarious !
Loved this episode also! All those deliciously looking seafood! I've eaten those lobster with cheesy noodles and depending on the chef it can be a hit or a miss. Never tried those ultra expensive abalones, the only time I was aware I was eating a medium sized abalone at a wedding I wasn't impressed; just like a bit chewy mushroom and I didn't taste any seafood flavours unfortunately.
I was struggle to find a word in English that can precisely translate the word “爽”(describing the texture of sea cucumber). It isn’t chewy or crispy. Ahhhhh, it’s al dente!!!!
precise Cantonese word to describe the abalone would be “軟糯”, literally means soft and sticky-rice-ly(imagine poki, mochi or taro ball, they’re all made with sticky rice)
That $1000.00 meal looked good but was ridiculous for that amount of food, experience, or not, no way (even if i was filthy rich) would I waste my money on about 4 bites of food.
And that’s your choice but when you spend 250 bucks or more for a five course tasting menu, you actually get decently full. But the food is guaranteed to be the best food you’ve ever had and the service is guaranteed be the best. You’re paying for a lot more than food.
@@bochapman1058 "but when you spend 250 bucks or more for a five course tasting menu" - That $1000 is ONLY 2 PLATES. $100 for a Sea Cucumber and Foie gras and ...... $900 for a SINGLE dried abalone and Fish maw. 17:46
14:02, Dried to rehydrated is like trying to eat it when it's FRESH! Only they want to trick you to think it's going to taste better because of the drying time... I've tried dried foods and sure, some dried foods are great but for the "most part" I think fresh is better.
It's a tried and true method. Some foods when dried are flavor bombs compared to being fresh. If you've ever had dried shitake or dried shrimps before you'd understand but these are flavor ingredients and not something you eat as the main course. Abalone and fish maw on the other hand are entree ingredients that people eat so they have to be rehydrated or they're inedible.
Ok first of all I LOVE your videos! They always interest me & make me hungry! With that being said… why is it that when you’re asking your co-host for this episode a question; you aren’t looking at her but rather looking at the camera? It seems fake. Also I think a majority of your audience would like to hear your co-hosts opinion on the food(show her eating the food & film it & talk about it on camera & have a little banter on the food!)! Other than that… I love the vid & all your other videos! Especially the seafood episodes!! Keep up the amazing work Sonny & amazing crew!!
I'm glad that he does the tasting because, some of the things he has eaten, I would never try. I like how he goes beyond tasting to explain why, he eats some controversial foods and that he does it because of the people traditions. That being said, I wish I was there to eat a bunch of seafood.
Highs and lows in reality. There's a lot of good quality cheap eats bc nearly everyone eats out a lot. The thing is when things get high end it's gonna be really pricey
