My favorite part of this chapter of browns misery is that it throws out any narrative that it's something other than management that keeps them in the bottom of the basement. They had their guy, and the Haslams sold their souls for something of equal value.
Love Baker here in Tampa. Dude just refuses to lose, and there are several examples of sparking the offense through a QB run where he shit talks the defender. Glad he’s here for a while
@@tommyo2450 oh the guy that had the two best targets missing for a combined 10 games, two losses in OT without touching the ball, and only 7 drives for an entire playoff game while going 15/18 and two touchdowns? @MichaelDanger19 I know ball way better than you. All I hear is excuses. He's a good QB. That's it. I don't have a narrative other than watching Baker and the rest for years and years. Take the wins, take the losses. Don't want to hear about OT, that's lame. Applies to everyone. Don't get to OT then.
Can confirm that us bucs love Mayfield. Felt good seeing this hype video for him. Like this style of video too! Would love some more deep dives into other players careers
Baker’s first game with the Rams was astounding. He had one week to learn the play book and get some reps with the team, and he went out that Sunday and ran that offense like he’d been there all year.
He said that game turned his whole career around. Sean McVay told him that he should just go out and be Baker, and no one in the NFL had ever told him that before.
Anyone who didn't see that Baker had what it takes to be an NFL top tier QB, doesn't know how to project QB talent. I've found that the main thing all who were SO WRONG about Baker have in common is - they dismiss bad circumstances as lame excuses. Bad systems will wipe out QB talent. It's no coincidence that Darnold and Baker both began to shine the minute they escaped the Cleveland and/or Carolina dumpster fires.
Poor Justin Fields 'escaped' Chicago way too late & ended up in another one in Pittsburgh. Everyone looked at that week one passing chart where Arthur Smith refused to allow Fields to throw long or up the middle & said "this is the _good_ AS they had in TN." Then he called for the same plays against the injured Dallas secondary & the Steelers lost that game. Fields got blamed. Same as when he had a 4-week streak of averaging 31 ppg (after calling out his own coaches). The Bears lost 3 out of 4 of those games. Know what the fan base said? "This just proves _Fields_ can't win games." So they acknowledge that the plays were different & that the defense couldn't hold leads. Fields didn't call the bad plays _or_ play defense but got blamed for both? He isn't bad. He just seems to have no charisma.
@@someperson8151 Okay, at least you're addressing that people may think "in time." At least there's an indication that you're aware of public perception. However _all_ the negatives about Fields are 100% perception-based. Where did "he hold onto the ball too long" or "he can't read defenses" come from? There's a huge difference between 'doesn't' & 'can't,' & NFL coaches & GMs are no less prone to not noticing these differences than causal fans are. Zach Wilson was drafted #2 *because people were talking **_about him._* Once GMs become aware of the most popular consensus they may as well be teenagers. They find themselves completely unable to will themselves to go against the memes. As someone not prone to this, I always have to remind myself this affects others. When your Preconceived Notions (PNs) say A, it either takes too much time or not even that can make people side against A. For instance, here is a video that includes research & stats proving Fields reads defenses at an elevated level ua-cam.com/video/QuhUbISnr8s/v-deo.html. Wanna know who changes their PNs in accordance with this reality? No one. Ever. If anything people invent realities to support their PNs. The best example is actually Lamar Jackson. Kurt Warner as well as others made videos proving Greg Roman's offense was simply unworkable. So Ravens' & NFL fans generally made up a meme that said "Roman is there to help Lamar with 'Certain Issues'." Know how I know this is made up? The Ravens (nor any other NFL team would) ever hold a press conference telling we the fans *and their opponents that Lamar **_HAD_** any issues that needed to be worked out.* What kind of insanity is _that?_ These people can't even answer what those issues were. But because this lie supports their PN, they're sure it All Happened. So yeah, people stick to their PNs no matter what. He's a bust in people's perception s only & because people react So Strongly to when their PNs are challenged, people challenge me. Or they _think_ that's what they're doing. It's not really a challenge to me. Reactive defenses almost always have huge flaws like that where they make Zero Sense. The same people saying that the play-calling in CHI hampered Caleb refuse to say it had Any Effect on Fields 'because.' Whenever you see any such inconsistency, you know it's because someone is holding onto a PN. Beliefs are PNs. People cling to their PNs like they cling to beliefs.
My father has been a bucs fan since moving to the U.S. Being born and raised in Tampa I never fully understood why my dad was such a big fan of football. I would always watch for big games or for the super bowl, but never committed to watching a full season. And then I watched Baker Mayfield play for the first time. and man, he’s made me fall in love with the game. We love him here in Tampa. ❤
When the Panthers got Baker I was ECSTATIC. I loved Baker. I was soooo disappointed that it didn't work here but it feels good to be right about him even if it's gonna cost us for years
The Panthers have some serious issues to work out, not as many as Cleveland does but its not pretty. I am not saying this to disparage you as a Panthers fan (I am a Bucs fan), I am just pointing out what I have observed and it was not too long ago that the Bucs were where the Panthers are.
@Spartan536 oh brother I agree dw, we have been very dysfunctional ESPECIALLY in that era. Matt Rhule was a horrible coach and Ben McAdoo, just no. I'm a big fan of Canales and Bryce but even then we literally gave up more points than any defense ever (granted one extra game but still) we are far from serious competition. I hope y'all get it done though, out of anyone in this division I would pick y'all. Good luck 🫡
I think now that Bryce is getting better, you guys will be battling a bit for the top of the South. And on the plus side you still get to see Baker play twice a year.
It's not Baker's fault that he was so good in college that he got drafted by the Browns, a team that has never had a franchise QB, or even drafted one.
0:56 caught me off guard. I love these random slandering of people from you tub, or barry that adds to weird or terrible things players have done. Adds more to the vid.
Not really a Bucs fan (I don’t hate them, but they’re not my favorite), but I truly love this whole arc of Baker’s. I thought it was crap the way Cleveland treated him - especially when it came out that he’d been playing with an injured shoulder. I’m glad he’s thrived in Tampa Bay. Kinda seemed like he was just going to be a placeholder after Brady retired. But nope - he’s their guy, and he deserves it. Someday, there’ll be a sappy sports movie about him.
Baker Mayfield loves football, Johnny Manziel loves partying that's comes from being a celebrity. Baker is all football all the time. Thats the difference. Also Baker takes such detailed notes that his coaches literally had to ask him how he does it and Baker had to explain the different colors for pass, run, and all the coverages he's likely to face when making a gameplan. The Bucs have put a ton on Bakers shoulders this season and he's only gotten better. He's now better than anyone ever expected him to be this season. While Johnny is trying to make a life worth living, Baker is trying to win a Super Bowl as the unquestioned leader of the Bucs.
I remember someone saying somewhere that Baker's career is similar to Drew Brees in terms of how they both managed to revive their careers after nearly being left for dead because of injury and their previous organizations betraying them
I like the shorter videos. I rarely have two hours to watch a video so it just plays in the background. More important is you avoiding burnout while keeping the algorithm gods happy.
Baker Mayfield is definitely a true underdog. He's come a long way from being ruined by the Browns and Panthers. And now he's helped the Buccaneers get in the playoff. Impressive in my book.
As a Bucs fan, I have always wanted Baker on my team. He was so cool and motivated his team. He’s the reason this team is relevant right now. Tom Brady saved us from poverty, Baker will bring us into prosperity!
Leaving the Browns grew a chip on his shoulder and he got better. The Browns will forever regret letting him go and he was not the reason why they played bad.
I have always been a baker believer, his heart he shows on the field is what you want from a leader. He did have to grow up a bit but now look at him. You love to see it

I did not like Baker Mayfield (as a person) coming out of college, but it feels like he did a lot of maturing and I am a fan of his now. Really root for the guy now.
"Baker Mayfield has not won a Super Bowl".... My response to that is: YET. The 2002 Buccaneers won a Super Bowl with a QB named Brad Johnson, and Mayfield is a MUCH better QB than Johnson. Sure that 2002 Defense is legendary, but you can sacrifice some defensive play if your offense is good. Baker has the talent to win a Super Bowl, if you have been paying attention the last 2 seasons he has shown it time and time again. Baker is a Franchise QB; end of story. Edit: Changed Trent Dilfer to Brad Johnson because apparently I can't remember my late 90's to early 2000's QB's for shit.
I love the long videos but if you want some flexibility, for the historical videos just do it as the whoever era of whatever team. I did enjoy this video as well.
Glad he’s here for a while
He "refused" 7 times then again in playoffs.
@@tommyo2450 oh the guy that had the two best targets missing for a combined 10 games, two losses in OT without touching the ball, and only 7 drives for an entire playoff game while going 15/18 and two touchdowns? Really hard to put the blame on Baker when the defense doesn't force a punt the entire playoff game because of the scheme the coach runs.
But that doesn't fit your narrative so I guess it doesn't matter. just admit you don't know ball and have a nice day
@MichaelDanger19 I know ball way better than you. All I hear is excuses. He's a good QB. That's it. I don't have a narrative other than watching Baker and the rest for years and years. He is exactly who I thought he was. Also I don't put the blame solely on Baker but when you're the QB that silly people are talking about in terms he has not earned you take the hit. Take the wins, take the losses. Don't want to hear about OT, that's lame. Applies to everyone. Don't get to OT then.
Can confirm that us bucs love Mayfield. Felt good seeing this hype video for him. Like this style of video too! Would love some more deep dives into other players careers
Mayfield won me my fantasy league this year. He's one of my favorite players.
Tub, you the GOAT! Content has been ABSOLUTE HEAT lately. Keep it up!
He had 2 days.
"This just proves _Fields_ can't win games."
So they acknowledge that the plays were different & that the defense couldn't hold leads. Fields didn't call the bad plays _or_ play defense but got blamed for both? He isn't bad. He just seems to have no charisma.
@@ChewsCarefullyJustin Fields could be like a Lamar Jackson, but everybody wants him to be a drop back QB right away. That can happen with time.
So Ravens' & NFL fans generally made up a meme that said "Roman is there to help Lamar with 'Certain Issues'."
Know how I know this is made up?
The Ravens (nor any other NFL team would) ever hold a press conference telling we the fans *and their opponents that Lamar **_HAD_** any issues that needed to be worked out.* What kind of insanity is _that?_
These people can't even answer what those issues were.
I mean Baker i think found his home in Tampa so yea they did draft one....and get rid of him
0:56 caught me off guard.
Im a Bucs fan who was also always a Baker fan. This has been so much fun man.
As a Tampa area resident. We are thrilled he is here.
Thank you Cleveland, for being Cleveland.
the rams game revived bros career😂😂😂😂
Tub is a Raiders fan, he really doesn’t want to acknowledge that game.
@ tru💀💀
Great vid! I couldn’t be happier for Baker. Former Browns fan, current Bucs fan.
I randomly came across your channel and I’m glad I did. You made me laugh out loud and you know a thing or two about football.
I've always rooted for baker. Seeing the media and fans turn on him pissed me off.
Baker Mayfield is definitely a true underdog. He's come a long way from being ruined by the Browns and Panthers. And now he's helped the Buccaneers get in the playoff. Impressive in my book.
You wanted to know so I’m gonna let you know, keep making the shorter version documentaries. They complement your longform stuff very well.
As a Bucs fan, I have always wanted Baker on my team. He was so cool and motivated his team. He’s the reason this team is relevant right now. Tom Brady saved us from poverty, Baker will bring us into prosperity!
The resurgence of Sam Mayfield and Baker Darnold is crazy
Brace yourself friends.
The TubFrog has awaken with another video.
Leaving the Browns grew a chip on his shoulder and he got better. The Browns will forever regret letting him go and he was not the reason why they played bad.
I love the long vids and these shorter ones
I have always been a baker believer, his heart he shows on the field is what you want from a leader. He did have to grow up a bit but now look at him. You love to see it
As a browns fan ill never forgive them for the baker situation
I love these QB redemption stories. Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, and even Sam Darnold. Hopefully they continue playing well. Its a feel good story.
I love how as I'm watching this and you're joking about the Browns' decision-making, I get an ad cut for Jack in the Box that starts with "There are no bad choices" 😂
Im a steelers fan and baker has always been one of my favorite qbs in the league, even though he ripped our hearts out in 2020. Dude is just so easy to root for he's the man
If Baker ends his career worthy of the HOF, it might just be made into a movie.
He shotguns beers on the Jumbotron.... That's my kind of guy.
Browns really really gonna brown when they released Baker, the only good QB in franchise history (your past is ravens history lets be real), for having a subpar season because he was playing through injury
Eagles fan here but reside in Norman. Baker walks on water here. He's the most beloved OU player of all time. We are stoked that he's doing well in Tampa Bay
What a delightful tale you have told. I’m always gonna root for the weirdo over most others and baker is a fantastic weirdo who has repeatedly shoved it in the faces of the haters.
Perfect to listen to while finishing my us history final poster
Finally, some respect on my Fantasy football franchise quarterback 🎉
Browns fans should hate OBJ for running Baker out of Cleveland
The craziest thing about baker leaving is that all the browns fans and even sports media were all anti baker. Genuinely never seen someone that didn’t deserve the hate get hate on as hard as him
I was on the couch at a family reunion with the rams game on, and me and my dad got to watch Baker make one of the most beautiful game winning drives I've ever seen, tbh, after the Raiders players danced around the punt ball I had a feeling karma was coming, but Baker balled out
Keep ‘em comin! These really keep me going.
Loved the video, hope you do one for Mathew Stafford and my Rams 😄
I love these style of videos too man keep doing your thing
Great content! Thanks so much!
Tubfrog us bears fans really needed that cut in caleb williams compliment thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Im a Baker fan and am very very happy for him. I knew he had it in him. Great video too!!!
I have every baker jersey and I wear 6 cause of him. It’s so great seeing baker play like an mvp after all my friends telling me he was trash and MY COMMENT MADE THE VIDEO 18:08
22:15 How about that Seahawks QB who never wrote them back? That guy is an inspiration and a baller too. Probably his colour was the only reason it took 10 years.
Please I like ur vids but like 2hrs is crazy I loved this one
Thanks Tubs . love your work
I'm a Browns fan and didn't click on this to get sad. I clicked on it to smile. I love Bake...
Yo dawg wheres the merch at, we NEEEEEEDDDDD ITTTTTTTTTT
OKAYYYYYY SOOOOOO
I’d never seen that video of Baker getting decked by the cops 😂 Really good form on that tackle! Browns should have signed him lmao
Baker Mayfield, Nickelodeon NVP, torching Russell Wilson in the Spongebob game was some of the funniest football I've ever watched.
I fw you heavy for this
I was so skeptical about the signing. I, just like everybody else was convinced he was a bust after the browns and panthers. I always loved him even back at Oklahoma. I’m so glad he’s balling out. Even better that it’s for my team!
I know it came at the expense of the Raiders but that TNF LA Rams Game will be the stuff of legends for years to come in Mayfield Lore
My favourite QB since his rookie season, been thru hell & back with him 💯
Love the shorter form content, just watched this video on my dinner break
Jim plunkett and Kurt Warner are the only qbs I can think of to have a better career arc similar to Baker....
Brees
Babe wake up, TubFrog just uploaded
This style is so fire 30 mins is a great length
Baker deserved better even as a Steelers fan who was a rival of his and who he beat in a playoff game i always rooted for him.
Love this video. I'm glad baker is down in Tampa killing it. I'm a steelers fan and live in da burgh. When I seen the browns let him go I was like wtf. Why. He's a good qb. But alas the browns are the browns
I did not like Baker Mayfield (as a person) coming out of college, but it feels like he did a lot of maturing and I am a fan of his now. Really root for the guy now.
Love this shorter doc style videos 👍
I’m glad my Bucs finally have had some luck. The Pats are still looking for a successor to Tom and we found his successor in 1 season.
Wasn’t Trent Dilfer the 2000 Ravens QB? I thought 2002 Buccs had Brad Johnson under center.
@@jojijoestar7233 Damn it... I am not sure why I was thinking Dilfer, it was Brad Johnson and I would definitely take Baker over Johnson.
I love the long videos but if you want some flexibility, for the historical videos just do it as the whoever era of whatever team.
I did enjoy this video as well.
In regards to baker I only started paying attention to football in these past for years and I remember that LA game being so exciting. I love Baker he is such a DOG.❤
Baker is the kind of QB that makes you want to play football with them. You know he's out there giving it 110%
Tubfrog might be an all time Football UA-camr
the Panthers had him playing Practice Squad DT.. What a story, man.
Shake and bake!! You love to see it ❤ man never gave up, truly believed in himself and he has nothing to prove to anyone but himself at this point
Because of what he went through in the league I gotta say Baker might be my favorite NFL player and I’m not even a Tampa fan
Usually the “QB revival” stories are that a guy struggled in a terrible organization and was able to showcase his talent with a better one. The crazy thing is, Baker had success with the Browns. He’s the only QB to succeed in that dysfunctional franchise since they returned to the NFL.
Watching this cuz baker won my fantasy Super Bowl with that hot 60 points week 17 😤
I'm a panthers and OU fan, I still love me some Baker Reagan Mayfield.
As a lifelong Bucs fan (born in 2000 so I never really experienced the 2002 SB) baker is my favorite qb we’ve ever had (yes more than Thomas)
