I and my family send lots of love and respect and healing to all of the victims families as they have had to relive this awful chapter in their lives.

I work with special needs kids in my classroom as a kindergarten teacher. This broke my heart in so many ways. His simple statement of "I miss him" spoke volumes. To take a dad away from any child is unthinkable... I just don't know how these families have survived a day after this, let alone 4 years. I lost a son too - but it was nothing like this.... he wasn't murdered. It is in his memory that I teach, and that I give my love to other little ones. Keeping my kids safe is on my heart and my mind every morning as I unlock my classroom door. This is the reality of school shootings... the ripples affect so many other people and the devastation is real. My thoughts should be geared towards getting through to my students academically and not how to hide them and protect them if someone came into my school to hurt them. This just breaks my heart.

That was possibly the most gut wrenching victim impact statement I’ve ever heard. Since they’re all incredibly heartbreaking this broke my heart on a soul level. It is evident that Chris was a PHENOMENAL man, sailor, father, husband, athletic director & his legacy lives on in all who knew him. All of this is so senseless. Sending prayers to all those affected as they have to relive this unbelievable pain. May God hold them tightly.

But, my husband did die after 30 wonderful years. Wow. This one was tough. Corey broke my heart. My daughter is on the autism spectrum and lost her dad when she was ten years old. She's 24 now but still breaks down in a meltdown of tears when a wave of missing him occurs. It's one of the hardest parts of being a parent when the other one has passed unexpectedly.
The mother of my 17 year old died in a car accident while getting clean. My daughter when she got her approval letter for Stanford broke down because she knew her mother had problems, but want to make her mom proud. It was hard explaining that her mother would be.
There wasn’t a dry eye when Corey spoke. Even the cop/bailiff in the back was wiping his eyes. The man was a hero and he died a hero. I’m sure he is very proud of Corey.
And I am utterly crushed by Corey's statement. You can feel for the others and you don't want them to have that pain, but you can keep an distance. But when Corey, who needs his daddy more than kids usually do, tells the judge he misses him, you can't keep that emotional distance. You wanna jump through your screen to just go and hug him..

I’ve been a high school coach for about 20 years I started my first year out of high school. Having an athletic director like Chris Hixon is a absolute blessing. The impact that someone like him has on his students, teachers and community is immeasurable. What a tragic loss to his beloved family and students as well as all the students that missed out on having him in their lives because of this senseless tragedy.

It’s true, listening to these statements the pain and sadness of these families is palpable. Absolutely heart wrenching, and even worse knowing the creature that cruelly and thoughtlessly ripped apart so many lives sits there nonchalantly, oblivious to the devastation he caused. In just a few short minutes this empty excuse for a human being stole so many beautiful souls from this world. It is hard to comprehend 💔

That was possibly the most gut wrenching victim impact statement I’ve ever heard. Since they’re all incredibly heartbreaking this broke my heart on a soul level. It is evident that Chris was a PHENOMENAL man, sailor, father, husband, athletic director & his legacy lives on in all who knew him.
All of this is so senseless. Sending prayers to all those affected as they have to relive this unbelievable pain. May God hold them tightly.

I understand everything Mrs Hixon said. My gosh…she said how I feel EXACTLY. …and said it beautifully. My husband died, not in the horrific way as Mr Hixon….that is too unimaginable to comprehend. But, my husband did die after 30 wonderful years. Mr. Hixons life and my husbands life were very similar in strengths: mentoring, the service to others, coaching, military, community activities, being present for family and friends…AND ME. Nothing is the same now. The hole will never be filled. The LOUDNESS of his void is still unbearable. I’m so sorry this happened to your family. My heart aches with yours.

Wow. This one was tough. Corey broke my heart. My daughter is on the autism spectrum and lost her dad when she was ten years old. She's 24 now but still breaks down in a meltdown of tears when a wave of missing him occurs. It's one of the hardest parts of being a parent when the other one has passed unexpectedly.

Y’all I lost it when Corey said he I miss him. Broke my heart. The security guard in the back that held Corey’s hand was whipping tears from his eyes in the back at the end.
Everyone of these people that were killed are not just photos. They had lives, they had plans, they had goals, & they had family and friends. It hurts so bad to see what these families are going through just cause of some mental case that didn't like his life. I pray that they all find peace and get the justice that they are hoping to get.
This is the hardest 30 sec of youtube I have ever watched. Corey's courage and bearing is a great reflection of the efforts of his mum and dad. Dad would be extremely proud of him - RIP.

I’ve been a high school coach for about 20 years I started my first year out of high school. Having an athletic director like Chris Hixon is a absolute blessing. The impact that someone like him has on his students, teachers and community is immeasurable. What a tragic loss to his beloved family and students as well as all the students that missed out on having him in their lives because of this senseless tragedy.

Corey Hixon's short statement told the court what he had lost, but also needed.
