  • In this video I explained how to recognize a condition irritable bowel syndrome. It is a very interesting condition, at least for me, because it comes with diarrhea and constipation as well. Yes! Both... They are often alternating and appear with abdominal pain and most of the symptoms get better after a bowel movement. How silly is that? Well, quite torturing actually and there are some decent treatment options.

    irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), irritable colon syndrome
    a common, chronic, noninflammatory condition characterized by abdominal pain and altered bowel habits (diarrhea or constipation or both), but no detectable pathologic change; there may be spasms of the intestinal muscles. A variant form is characterized by painless diarrhea. It is usually due to a combination of psychologic and physiologic factors. Called also irritable or spastic colon.

    Crohn disease
    one of the principal forms of inflammatory bowel disease, a chronic granulomatous disease of the gastrointestinal tract of unknown etiology; it can involve any part of the tract, but most often is found in the terminal ileum. Characteristics include scarring and thickening of the bowel wall that frequently leads to intestinal obstruction, abscesses, and fistula formation. There is a high rate of recurrence after treatment. Called also Crohn colitis and regional or segmental enteritis. When confined to the ileum it is also called regional or terminal ileitis.
