Abdominal Pain and Constipation Followed by Diarrhea - USMLE Patient 1

In this video I explained how to recognize a condition irritable bowel syndrome. It is a very interesting condition, at least for me, because it comes with diarrhea and constipation as well. Yes! Both... They are often alternating and appear with abdominal pain and most of the symptoms get better after a bowel movement. How silly is that? Well, quite torturing actually and there are some decent treatment options.

a common, chronic, noninflammatory condition characterized by abdominal pain and altered bowel habits (diarrhea or constipation or both), but no detectable pathologic change; there may be spasms of the intestinal muscles. A variant form is characterized by painless diarrhea. It is usually due to a combination of psychologic and physiologic factors. Called also irritable or spastic colon.
