I went to the game dressed in my work suit and sat behind the goals a few rows from the front and had a birds eye view of the penalty shoot-out.

An unforgettable night on Australia's sporting history

@@echodlta I'm from Brazil and here in Latin America we don't have a league at the level of the main european powers, but it's a religion. In Canada and Asia the sport seems to be developing a lot (China and India). In the US I don't believe it because they already have their sports.
@@leonardod1846 yes totally agree, with the aleague (Australian football) it is failing unfortunately, people have it stuck in there heads that football is a “gay” sport and i get called al sorts of names for liking it. It isn’t a big sport over here because we have AFL and every single year less and less people seem to follow it.
@@echodlta I thought football in Australia was developing, at least in support of the national team. That should also depend on qualifying for the next world cups, especially Qatar and 2026. I hope they qualify and repeat the 2006 campaign.
Lost my mind the evening this went down. Watching with good mates and family in Brisbane with hundreds around us. One of the best if not the best highlight of my football fan life.
Massive win for Australia, even i'm not australian, i get goosebumps watching this Schwarzer heroic saves.. What a moment for them. Uruguay unfortunate, but this moment be a turning point for them coz since this they can reach semifinal in South Africa and be a champion of Copa America 2011.
Can never ever forget watching this. Still brings a tear to the eye watching it now, remembering how much it meant after all those years of coming up just short
I was there with my old man. A moment for all time. Can still feel the energy of that night.
The cheering after Aloisi scored is pure joy from the commentators and the fans
I'm British and I'm proud of the aussies 🇬🇧🏴
5:55 goddamn, 18 years later and that second save still gives me goosebumps
10 years today!! Saudations from São Paulo, Brazil.
Love watching this, love the commentary
Eliminaron a Uruguay, Honduras y ahora a Peru.
I will never forget this one
Only the people who were at that stadium that night can truly appreciate that amazing atmosphere.. We were grown men crying tears of joy... Singing to the lyrics of Men at works "land down under", dancing like mad men in the streets, beeping our car horns all the way home, the Australian flag hanging out of all four windows, yelling and screaming til we lost our voices... An unforgettable night on Australia's sporting history
I was there..front row just inside the half way. Closest to the shootout. Good times.
Aussies were off their nuts when we saw aloisi score that penalty
I love this country ...To win to two times world champion Uruguay was amazing 16 years ago good memories
Never get sick of watching this
Beat football moment I can remember. I was in my final year of high school and I can’t remember a time my siblings and I screamed and roared louder than that in delight. Such an amazing moment. Brings tears to my eyes.
the stones on aloisi to go top corner
We had our best ever team back then, and for a Lil bit of luck v Italy mitve gone semis. Viduka, Kewell, Neill, vidmar, Schwartzer, bresciano, aloisi, cahill etc etc... long time til were back in that sort of bracket
Someone from Peru, here ? 12/06/22

Came from TheMasterBucks' interview with Schwarzer!

That was our best team ever and our best chance to do so well in the World Cup. Legends.
