As we wake up from Storm Isha we decide Harry needs to get some new tyres following the incident in the snow and the fact he feels a little loose on the roads. Can we find a garage who can sort this whilst we are on the move ? The answer is yes and Modern Tyres in Ballymoney come to the rescue. Whilst they sort the tyre delivery we go to Kinbane Castle and the setting is simply stunning.
We are Jane and Stew and with Harry our Ford Custom AutoCamper Campervan we will take you on our version of vanlife. If you are planning a winter trip, wanting to discover more about offgrid / wild camping in a campervan or motorhome then consider following this series as we share our adventures to IRELAND in our second series. But no luck,so got a new modern blow up matress from that's meant to be better than the standard ones. Hoping to get in a few more nights away. I strive to have a small van one day. Your adventures keep me going.

Love the pan used for Burgers has it a name
That’s the famous ridge monkey - I love it and Jane not so - it allows the smells to stay in the pan - I’ve even made a banana load in it on a low heat as it’s like an oven

Yep at the time I discounted any main off road bias like BF Goodrich as nice I am sure they would look
Winter tyres seemed a waste as again to biased for what we do so all season came in the lens - initially was going Michelin but no real reason but the stock wasn’t there - I wanted to stay premium brand from a comfort that I was doing the right thing.
I have to say they perform well - no noticeable extra road noise - definitely felt difference pulling off on wet or gravelly road
Poland was superb wish we could of stayed longer as a long way to go but we will definitely go back
Loving your blogs. I did the Kinbane Castle walk on one crutch, right out to the tip of the point, bit hairy coming back on the very narrow bit of the path as the wind picked up within minutes. The steps back up were like a 3 day camel ride 😂😂

Excellent choice of tyres, you'll be amazed with wet weather , ice & snow grip ! Definitely swop f to r in about 12 months.
We immediately felt the benefit and my advice to anyone buying a new van - upgrade the tyre from the off
Love you two, but where are the pickles on your burgers?!?😂 It is nice to hear how much you love Ireland. I fell in love with it when my mom took me there when I was 12. She was born in Banbridge, not too far from where you are. I would go to Ireland in the summers and spend about two months there on my mom’s family farm. For a kid from Southern California it was a totally different world, but a magical and wonderful land. The people are friendliest and wittiest people in the world. Safe travels guys.

I made it 😂 simply bought some screen thermal material and bought some suction cups and glued a hem on it
It works a treat I have to say on a winter trip - made a huge difference to our heads at night

@tonyryecroft9981 I used fabric glue unless you can sew - but use very wide hem tape in my opinion - when you position suckers advise holding it up to get precise location on the flat part of the doors

Please can you let me know how you use your porta loo when in bed mode 👍
We haven’t got a porta loo we use a Bivvy loo for nos 2 and pee bottle for nos 1
but either way one of the advantages of the van is with the bed down there is enough space to put the toilet between the end of the bed and the front seat.
You then have a choice step out the van / hide under the covers with earplugs etc

Did you need new tyres anyway? Didn't know these Game of Thrones trees were there. Way too much salad on that burger 😂
Well they still had tread on but they were just standard tyres and having changed them I noticed a huge ‘reassuring’ difference - in short I would of changed them in the next 3-6 but with the gravel roads we sometimes go on it made sense to do it
