Lagu ini mengingatkanku pada waktu aku tamat SD di tahun 1987 dari album kaset bahana top slow chart part 5. Lagu "Because I Love You" dari Shakin' Steven. Dan ketika aku menjadi murid baru di kelas 1 SMPN 3 Jakarta, masuk pelajaran agama kristen, aku ketemu sama sesama murid baru bernama Stefanus sama dengan nama penyanyi lagu ini. Dan ada 1 kenangan lagi ketika lagu ini sedang diputar di rumahku lantai 2 , di teras rumah lantai 2 di tempat laci kaki setrikaan di siang hari, aku melihat foto model majalah anak2 halo bernama Bonnie bersamaan dengan temannya Evie. Ku pikir mengapa dalam perasaanku lagu itu cocok dengan soundtrack orang yang jadi foto model ini ?. Belakangan di saat ini pertanyaanku terjawab rupanya Lae Saloom yang sekarang jadi suami kakakku. Namun bagiku terasa kurang pas karena Lae Saloom di fisiknya seorang anak kampung miskin hanya saja otaknya pintar , dia sekarang bekerja sebagai dosen dengan lulusan S2 ITB. Dan pada saat tadi aku mengetik rupanya terjawab spontan sms langsung bahwa ketikanku yang salah ada kata "du" , mungkin ini jawabannya "du" lagu Jerman .

Many people don't know he was the UK's biggest selling artist in a decade where the competition was fierce and a top 40 hit back then was a massive achievement. This track also proves that he was versatile in terms of his vocals and not just an Elvis sound-a-like / look-a-like which is how a lot of his critics described him. Thanks for sharing and the wonderful memories not just this, but all of his tunes bring back
I agree with all of your Shaky comments (the guy's a legend) but your comment on the 1980s isn't based in reality. IRA, the Cold War, massive unemployment and Thatcherism, the rise of Aids, starving millions in Africa...

I love the beat of this song. I was too young when my dad bought cassette tapes it included this song that was early 90's. My Dad was in Saudi and we're in the Philippines. The memories that flashed on my mind was the nature and simplicity of the surrounding, the people with no gadget all. How beautiful it was.

And when i heard this on one station (i think it was Radio Sri Lanka) i just stopped and listened to it, and was so enthralled. This was my first western music 'discovery' then. What a song!
