I know this was four years ago, but I gotta say...GREAT camera work & explanations. For me, with a new variation, if I miss a little point all can go wrong. Hearing your clear explantions while actually being able to see what you are doing, was very helpful.
Thank you :)

I am new to sewing. I've watched many self binding receiving blanket videos before I got the nerve to try to make one. Your video is by far the easiest to follow and gave me the confidence to finally try to make my first. You explain each step very well. I appreciate your comments about how if it isn't perfect it's okay! As a beginner it made me feel better about my imperfections. Your tips on cutting the fabric and making corners just right is the clearest I've seen. I don't know if I'll ever be brave enough to measure my borders after I turn it inside out : )) but they look even. I've made 5 so far, 4 are for my newborn twin grandsons. I have your video on every time. Thank you very much!
You're welcome and I am happy to here you are using this video.
8 years later I still come back to this for gifts because this always comes out perfect!! Thanks for all the last minute baby shower gifts!
You are so welcome!
It's been 7 years for me! I love this tutorial!!!!!
8ûy😊😊😊
I do too for every grand and great grandchild
This is the best video for the blanket. Everytime I make a blanket I review! Thanks
You are so welcome!
I just returned to review this again as theer is going to be another great grandbaby. Of all the tutorials yours is absolutely the best. You are very clear with your instructions and go slow enough for us to understand. Thank you over and over again!!
Thanks for taking the time to explain squaring up and getting our fabric even before cutting
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing your self binding baby quilt. I will be a Great Great grandma in a month and want to make one of these. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
All I can say is THANK YOU so much for your tutorial! It’s by far the best one I’ve found for this baby blanket. Since using your method I’ve gotten every corner correct!
Excellent, and thank you!
I used to do a little sewing and hadn't sewn in years. I was asked to make something for my new great grand. I was looking for something on binding and came across this. OMG! Just watching the tutorial made me feel I could do it. I made a light one for summer and a flannel one for winter. They came out beautifully. I will now make a larger one for my self. LOL. Thank you. Carolyn in Louisiana.
Thank you for the kind words!
This tutorial is one of the best I've ever watched. My blanket turned out perfectly. You go through each step thoroughly and precisely. Thank you!
Thank you so much! We are so happy your blanket turned out well.
Best instruction for cutting out these cute baby blankets!!
Thank you! 😊
I looked at 3 different videos on how to do this and your video is the best. You are clear and keep a perfect pace throughout. Thank you.
Your welcome and thank you for watching.
Oh my goodness, this is the best videos ever for this blanket. You explained it so perfect and I appreciate you didn't add music to eh video. I just made one after watching your video SEVERAL times, I had watches several other videos on it and they were so confusing. Yours is perfect!!! The only thing I done different was to do a line of stitching on both squares where I would be leaving space for turning, about a scant 1/4 inch on both pieces of fabric, about 8-10 or so inches I didn't measure, after closing this stitching will be under the binding and it won't be seen, that prevents the flannel from stretching out when you pull the blanket through when turning. Also I tucked my INSIDE under the binding and folded the binding under 1/4 inch at the turning place to be stitched down, it makes a much neater join and goes with the stitching better than folding the inside over the outside binding.
I have had my Janome 9000 over 25 years and I have not used all my decorative stitches, I ventured out and done the triple stitch zig zzg it was perfect for tacking down the binding border. Then I did do the "star" quilting tack down stitch on my Janome 9000 to keep the panels together, so they wouldn't stretch out and look sloppy after a lot of use. If people are a new quilter they might want to wash and dry their flannel before making this blanket to help prevent shrinking after wash, can't remember if you said that, I am sure this is going to be a favorite blanket to the recipient.
Wow! I am glad that you liked the video and have ventured into other options on your sewing machine.
That’s the easiest one I’ve seen yet. Thank you.
You're welcome!
I just watched this excellent tutorial! I made one for my grand daughter. Lovely!
Thanks so much 😊
I think I could make hundreds of these ...I have 2 grandsons.. I made several for them and they love them... now we are expecting a granddaughter and so the fun begins..so excited to make a bunch of these...I seriously think I am addicted to sewing and fishing haha thank you for sharing your fantastic videos..I truly appreciate you doing so ..I didn't know nothing about sewing and when I started and bought my machine I found the video you did on making this blanket but I think it was a different one but same instructions..anyway I actually learned from you and it gave me confidence and I haven't stop since ..thank you so much ...😊🌷
You are so welcome!
I made one of these for my new grandson. The instructions were so clear that I made it easily. Turned out so pretty.
Perfection! Getting a new grand baby in August and just made three of these receiving blankets for her. Thank you so much for the thorough but very easy to understand instructions.
You are so welcome!
This is absolutely the best tutorial ever! I have 14 grandchildren. With each announcement, I gear up for burb cloths, bibs, etc. I had never seen a blanket tutorial until I saw this one. I have to admit when I first saw it, I had no clue where you were going with this. When I saw it finished, I was hooked! Wow! I had to start and stop to follow each step, but it turned out exactly as you promised! You are so awesome and clear at each step. If done like you show, it turns out every time. Thank you so much for teaching this and especially how well you teach this!! It is so fun that after making for my babies, I just keep sewing for any place I can donate for other babies in need. Thank you, and again, you're awesome!,
Sounds like you're busy! I'm so glad our videos were helpful for you. Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much for the clear explanation and close up shots of what you were doing to miter the corners. I had watched another video and messed up those corners until I had no fabric left. I am going to watch it some more before I start cutting!!! Thanks again!
Excellent clear instructions you're the only one that's explain how to cut the Fabric, that to me was gold as that's what I was struggling on. Thank you for a very clear video and for sharing it with us, I fully understood everything you said and you showed us well.
+Denise Poole Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad I could help!
Out of all the tutorials I've watched, you talk through it like you know, we are duh to the sewing jargon. You don't say sewing words that leave me baffled. You explain why certain things should be done in a particular way.
Thank you. We try to show techniques and move on.
Thank you! I got this wild inspiration to make receiving blankets for our up in coming granddaughter and my daughter told me about these self binding blankets. I looked at a couple other videos but didn't know how to start, your opening that showed me how to square off my fabric was a huge help and got me started right. The following steps were easy for me to follow and all I have left to do on this first blanket is the decorative top stitch. One down and 3 to go! Thanks again.
You're welcome.
I just love those little blankets, the way you explain makes it so easy to follow. I will be making these. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
Thank you for a great and easy-to-understand tutorial! I successfully followed your instructions and am happy with the results.🌺

You are the BEST! Thank you sooooooooo much for the wonderful teaching tutorial. I watched, cut, sewed, mitered, turned and WALA!!! I now have a beautiful receiving blanket.

I should learn to read the comments before attempting something,I messed up three blankets, now after reading that I'm not the only one who has done this, now I know what I did wrong!! Thank you for the video, these are such cute blankets!
I’ve seen this method done before but this is a much better way of doing it. I’m Glad I ran across this. I’ll be doing this for my baby great Nephew that was just born. Thanks.
You're welcome.
Awesome tutorial! Best one I have found! I have 11 grandchildren and soon to have a great grandchild, so I needed a clear and demonsrated video tutorial to self bind blankets. I'm hooked! you're awesome! Thank you so much!
You're welcome.
Awesome tutorial. I have watched many tutorials for this blanket. The key to perfection is in your tutorial. That little x intersection at a quarter of an inch makes it perfect. I will be watching many more of your tutorials. And you use lovely materials.
Thank you.
This is a wonderful and clear video. I am going to make one of these today for a new great-nephew, and maybe embroider his name on it. Thank you for such clear instructions.

LOVE your iron. UPDATE! Just finished one and just one small issue, being a new sewer I messed up because I missed the part about re lining up all the edges with those dog eared corners. But after some seam ripping, I have it finished. Love it.Thanks again

You answers my question with out me having to ask! Yes!
I have some minky I want to sue for the back but I can't get 42 inches out of it, so I'm just going to cross my fingers and downsize a bit, making sure I do that with the other fabric too.
Thanks so much!

You are so welcome.
Thank you for showing how to cut the fabric, I had one piece 30 all around, but the other piece was 40x36 so it didn't come out! Now I know I could have done 25 and 35 to make it work!

I just saw this video, and I'm looking forward to making some blankets. My biggest problem is always getting them squared accurately. Mostly, I wanted to say hello from Rio Rancho, New Mexico!!

Smart idea to add the shower handle to your ruler, so much easier to grab and move it.
