Izzy just stole my heart the moment she appeared. optimistic, fun, creative. And dont get me started on her wearing those fashion glasses. It is like combining Raritys skills with Pinkies.... pinkieness!
I really like how the racial thing was aborded, they show us every point of view, showing us that in some way all types of pony are racist and have their own prejudices and stereotypes, instead of showing us a single racist group and painting them as the bad guys, they gave us something more worked.
we already covered racism in FiM. Im skipping this one.
@@MLPDethDealr32 it isn't as bad. As there are a few clues in the background. Like the forget me stone. Though I wish they would have explained it in the beginning. But have to see what is in store for the series.
@@anthonyanderson3448 Yea? Well, it doesnt have the characters that grew on me or that i came to enjoy seeing. outside of fan works, i doubt we'll see Starlight or Trixie again. I think it would have been fun to see a MLP version of Friends, where we get to see Starlight and some of the others again.
@@MLPDethDealr32 As a starlight and trixie mega-fan, i'm sad that we'll never see them again, because they sadly never were the main characters, but i still enjoy the new generation. Although i agree! I would like a spinoff series wtih starlight, trixie, sunburst, and other secondary/background ponies we have seen for a limited period of time, or only as background characters.

Me: Ponies are Separated and their Magic is Gone? So Queen Chrysalis and the Other Stone Villains has Returned. And they Succeeded! Starting the Next Generation Dark i like it.
I really hope Chrysalis, Cozy, and Tirek return or are at least referenced at some point during the series
I do feel like a lot of things in the movie are hinting at things that will get addressed in the series. Especially since they destroyed Sunny's house(which I hope Sprout helps rebuild). We could find secrets in there about the mane six and what really happened, and who Sunny truly is as a person. Why magic was taken and why these gems were made?
And most importantly, why the tribes separted and the other nations are nowhere to be seen?
My personal theory is that the real Grogar freed Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow.(the real Grogar having more of tight grip on the Villians than Discord) the Villians kidnap Flurry Heart to use as leverage to get Grogar's bell back. Peharps as a guarantee that their plan will work, Cozy Glow and Bill gather the artifacts needed to take away magic again
Discord would overhear the Villians plan,, so maybe as a way to keep their magic from fading away, the mane six create the gems to store the ponies magic so they won't get caught in the spell.
But grogar would know Discord was eavesdropping and decides to trap Flurry Heart in the magic stealing orb.(the magic wouldn't disappear like last time, it would just store all the magic inside.
Ponies would than have rely more on technology(which would explain the advancements in gen5)
But during those hundred or thousand of years gap, Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow would be putting the seeds of doubt in the ponies, making them separate again.
Maybe the gen 5 crew could find out about the Villians plan and to face off against them, free Flurry Heart and the magic of Equestria.
I mean Flurry the only character they could bring into the show without taking attention away from the new main characters, and give someone that Sunny could confide in(as well as Flurry) Since Sunny is an alicorn now, it would make sense for her to have an alicorn friend.
It would also give Flurry Heart more character than she got in gen 4.
Not too mention Pipp, a lot of people are bummed out she didn't have much to say and do in the movie, unlike her sister Zipp.
Looking Out For You is one of those subconscious bops that you wouldn't notice until you're in the shower singing and then you hear yourself. Speaking from experience.
Surprised Gonna Be My Day wasn't as memorable to you. It was one of the most to so many. I didn't really get that "fake" feeling of the song. I thought it was such a fantastic opener
Maybe I have to listen to it a couple more times. It just didn't grab me as much as I wanted it to. Love that you really liked it, though.

It's kinda cool how it's implied that there was a war between Unicorns and Pegasi
Pegasi have a kingdom built over the ruins of the once Unicorn dominated Canterlot. The unicorns have cursed words about Pegasi but none for Earth pones in their dingy forest.
And while both stereotype each other as brutal monsters they view Earth's as kinda dumb brutes, while Earth's are scared of both
So they subtly imply that at some point Pegasi waged war on Canterlot, took it over, exiled the Unicorns to a dingy forest, and the war was so fierce that the Earth's were terrified of what the more magically gifted races could do so all the Earths took no side and just evacuated to the coast
of course this could all be misinterpretation, but still, the pieces are there and its not spelled out for us

Hitxh is definitely my Favorite. He adds that Boyish Charm that Mix well with the Other Ponies. I love how he Doesn't immediately go along with Sunny and the Plans but still has An Open Mind of "Maybe she Right".
This review is fantastic EquesTron, i flippin' loved the G5 movie it the characters were awesome (Some of them anyway) and the songs were catchy, sure the movie had it's ups and downs like all movies do but it was still fun to watch and it makes me look forward to the G5 tv series!
Same here. I’m really looking forward to continue the development of the characters and them to explore some of the old places of Ancient Equestria, like Ponyville. Oh, and one more thing, if any of the Mane Six are still alive, this is a word for the team working on the show… please don’t give them The Last Jedi treatment.
Something that has been pushing me and my mother away from watching the movie is the animation style. Something about them look so… weird to us. Watching this video and going between G4 and NG is like seeing food that shouldn’t be microwaved microwaved. Maybe we’ll change our minds when we watch the movie.
Update: watched the movie and enjoyed it! Must say, we’re excited to see what comes next.
The art style kind of reminds me of of a less plastic-y looking version of Filly Funtasia (which also happens to have five main leads hmm...), which is funny to me because Filly is a Hong Kong MLP knockoff (complete with Cadmium residue and apparently other harmful stuff) from the same company who made the original Danish Chaotic card game before TCDigital rebooted it. This movie was cute but ultimately just kind of okay IMO.
I understand that the new animation style can take some getting used to, but look on the bright side, at least it's not Filly Fantasia.
I teally enjoyed the movie and look forward to the series. What I liked about how they treated Izzy was she wasn't as randomn as Pinkie, actually having a grounded reason for doing what she does, and in an imtellegent way. I mean, she had a valid and logical reason for going to Maretime Bay. And what seemed to some as nievity or unawareness of her surroundings was more of an expectation.
I love the dialog between Sunny and Izzy where they are running through the town.
"Fit Right In" is a great showcase of Izzy's creative talent and intelligence (the glasses don't hurt.
I love that Hitch isn't played for laughs or just the token male. He has value to the story and is genuinely concerned for his friends. I'm not much jnto shipping, but get strong vibes between Zipp and Hitch.
Sunny - I still think she is a dire t decendant of Twilight. And I am.loving her, though Izzy is still my favorite. Now, are her wings and horn actually manifested or just an effect of the combined crystals? Don"t know and feel the answer may be related to why the wyndigos aren't a factor - or at least, yet.
Something I think was a missed opportunity, the tree that was a landmark looked a little like the Tree of Harmony, but was so hoping it would have been the apple/pear tree from "A Perfect Pair". I mean Zephyr Hights is Canterlot - the "station" was the throne room, right? The tree would have given some context to the location. I still think Bridlewood was the Everfree, and Izzy's cottage was the site of Fluttershy's cottage.
Well, here's hoping you will do a right/wrong for this movie.
I thought the movie was pretty good as a starting point for G5, despite the rushed ending and unanswered questions (day and night cycle without celestia & luna, where are the yaks, changelings, griffins, hippogryphs, and dragons, etc). I hear we’re getting a 44 minute special sometime in the future before the series so hopefully it starts answering/answers those questions!
Izzy continues to remain my favorite, she’s adorable and her design is great! Zipp became my second favorite. What’s shown of her personality is just as colorful as her hair and wings! Can’t wait to see more of her!
11:01 Most of them have done voice work before and even if he hadn't, Jack Black is a singer and singers tend to make for good voice actors as both jobs require similar skills.
Izzy is not like Pinkie. Izzy is not in the clouds, Izzy is always on the same wavelength with other ponies, Izzy is down-to-earth and concrete. Izzy is Izzy!
Not too mention, Izzy is kinda like a blend between Pinkie Pie and Rarity, since she loves to design things.
It is hard not to seeing as she has most of the traits to the Element of Laughter, including the Pinkie Hop/Bounce.

A good story is timeless - it works no matter how many times it is retold, even when the only things changed are the casts and settings. Because a good story speaks not only resonates with our sense of fun, but with the very ideals we believe in. Why do many of us like the story in spite of its inevitable faults? Because it is an affirmation of the main lesson of G4 that we love: Friendship is Magic, no matter the generation or era. That it is a fun romp also helps.

Commenting late, but if the Alicorns are all gone, I'll hold out hope Spike and/or Discord are still kicking and will give an exposition dump on how this all happened.
You know a thought just occurred to me, didn't they all have cutie marks before the magic was restored? (the cutie marks are on one thigh now instead of both btw) That makes no sense!
Well, Ponies only seems to loose their Cutie Marks when their Magic is forcefully taken from them, as we saw with Tirek.
The Cutie Marks didn't vanish when Cozy Glow opened her weird Portal or when the Stormking used his Staff.

Well, as far as I can tell, every cartoon has had marks on both flanks, and this could be attributed to animators being lazy and just flipping the characters around instead of drawing out left and right sides of everything, but most of the toys in all generations have only had marks on one side. This 3D movie would therefore be the "proper representation" of the franchise.
Some people think Derpy might be the pony with the Balloon escape thing.
He's clearly _not_ Derpy. He might be a descendant of Pinkie Pie though.

Does everyone else think Sunny and her father maybe related to Twilight Sparkle? Because their last names sounds similar to Twilight. Not only that, but the journal of Sunny's father has Twilight's cutie Mark. Which is also the element of magic. And at the end of the movie Sunny becomes an alicorn. I also think Hitch is somehow related to Fluttershy.
Not to forget, Izzy said that Sunny's Luminescence/Sparkle/Aura was Lavender.
I wouldn't call it a hole when as you brought up, it has been a few thousand years, and hell, humanity has lost BILLIONS of pieces of information and knowledge in the span of 1000 years from many different cultures, so having magic no longer existing and segregation be a major driving point isn't that out of the blue. I also feel like the series coming up is gonna be heavily focused on discovering WHY this all happened and why the Alicorns are no longer a thing (even though it's basically been set up that Alicorns are immortal beings). If anything else, it can also be a start up to trying to figure out a way to bring back Twilight, Cadance and the Crystal Empire, Celestia and Luna, as well as further try and reunify the different nations.
Another major guess of mine is that these ponies are long distance relatives of the main 6, Hitch being an animal attraction seems like a receive trait of fluttershy
One can totally see "genetic traits". I suppose Sunny is a descendant of Twilight seeing as her Luminescence/Sparkle/Aura is Lavender, Izzy is from Pinkie because of her carefree and laughable nature, Zipp could be Ms. Awesome, Sprout... of Short Fuse? And Hitch from Fluttershy... Although considering the ship they left off on, could Hitch have any Chaos traits from great-great-great-great-grand dad? And for that matter, didn't look like Rainbow hooked up with a stallion, so Zipp may not be..... unless surrogation was involved. Or is she Scootaloo's descendant? Or Rainbow's brother? Oh no... That Royal Family came from Zephyr Breeze. Esplains so mush. o.o
Sunny is the Twilight, Izzy is the Pinkie, Pipp is the Rarity, Zipp is the Rainbow Dash and Hitch is the Fluttershy. There was no Applejack of the group, I guess you could say Hitch is a mix of Flutters & AJ.
There wasn't really an AJ in G3 either. There is a G3 toy called AJ, but that had a bigger similarity to Big Mac. Guess that horse only appears in every other cartoon series.

i think it is too early to decide a set opinion about why or how it happend since the movie is the very first thing we seen and to be open minded about something newer to give it more time to develop and feel more fleshed out ive seen the movie my self and besides being predictable towards the climax i think it will be a blast to enjoy the series when it starts and am happy as a veteran brony to give a future gem to the newbys that come after me
There is an explanation to why Equestria turned into this in _A New Generation,_ an answer that has been staring us all in the face. A very simple 6-word phrase that goes as follows:
_"It Is All Princess Celestias' Fault"_
How exactly is it all her fault, and what do I mean when I say "All"? Well it is very simple because it literally means *_ALL:_* everything that happened both during and after her reign as the Princess of Equestria can be traced back to Princess Celestia as the cause of all the problems that not only the Mane Six faced, but also all of the problems that Sunny now has to face. And it all began when Celestia and Luna first took the throne in ruling Equestria...
Eh what about twilight sparkle, luster dawn or flurry heart?
I wasn't as bothered (I was,just not as much) with the premise because of the huge time gap I made in my brain. In G4 there were candles and hot air balloons,in this movie we're shown there's cellphones,electricity,television,even SOCIAL MEDIA. I juts figured it was so long ago it was logical nobody remembered WHY they got separated. Though my question is what happened to the changelings,hypogryphins and gryphins,material for a sequel I guess? Or the series,it's unclear to me how they'll proceed,there's also Chrysallis,Tyrek and Cozy Glow (and does magic disappearing means no Discord?? So many questions...)
Did this dude just bash *Gonna Be My Day* is mediocre and forgetable? It's one of the best songs in the movie along with *Fit Right In.*
Thank you! Your the first review I've heard that isn't ignoring the movies shortcomings. Every one else seams to be drooling over this when there are issues that need to be pointed out if we want quality entertainment rather then a mediocre cash grab.
My guess is that the memory stone from forgotten friendship has something to do with why no one remembers why magic was gone. It is seen in a scene and if used by an unknown villain in the past it'd make sense

EquesTron fans who were crying more mlp videos finally had their way. I am personally so tired of mlp, one of the reasons why I left the fandom, but neat to see you can still enjoy it.

Unfortunately it doesn't look likely. This video was blocked twice for using clips from the movie, and had to do some editing to get around it. I would have loved to, but it almost seems like Netflix goes after people who aren't sponsored and use their content.

The name of this movie is just called that. They’re going to rename the special and start of the first season of the show when they both air in spring and fall respectively in 2022.
It doesn't really explain about how and why Sunny became alicorn at the end of the film like is she becoming a princess like Twilight and also isn't Sprout suppose to be punished for all the chaos that he had cause.
If you look at the stained glass windows on the Zeppelin Station of Zephyr Heights, you may notice that the 3 ponies depicted are actually Earth Ponies (the pegasus crystal gives the right one golden wings, the unicorn crystal gives the left one a golden horn, while the earth diamond gives the middle one long_range/lasting power over plants).
-> Sunny is NOT an alicorn. Anypony can "get" their Astral Wings/Horn.
[My Theory]: Twilight created the crystals "just in case" one or two of the pony races went extinct [this way the unique magic of each pony kind would not be lost forever].
-> In the credits at the end there is a reference to "earth pony magic"; as ONLY the earth pony filly running behind a pegasus & unicorn leaves hoofprints on the grass as "glowing" hearts (from the Power of Love).

Honestly I feel like the songs are actually pretty damn good, they just aren't inserted well. They feel forced in the story, and even danger danger (my personal favourite and the one that I think has the Smoothest translation into music) feels like it's severely downplayed by the video, try to listen to it alone and then by watching the video you'll see what I mean
IMO: for the comment at 8:40 - Sprout was not the "Bad Guy" HATE/DISTRUST was the bad guy - you can not punch those in the nose
One can always try and Verbally punch it in the nose with counter arguments.
Sunny here reminds me of sunny from WOF, is this just me?

Danger danger in my opinion was the weakest song in the G5 movie but that might just be because I personally was never a fan of Ken jeong's singing voice, it's not bad mind you, I'm just not that big of a fan of it, never have been

2:21 this is one of the things that I realized that really made me dislike the movie after watching it. I wasn't really sure what the movie would be like from the pheosies alone so seeing it IRL kind of made me feel... empty. we went through all that in gen 4.... just for Hasbro to kick it all out the window? it really felt cheap, I felt betrayed.

I mean, kinda. the plot is simply but that's not a issue so much as it's been done so many times before. but I'm not complaining all that much because there was so much else good about it. but KIDS DON'T necessarily NEED A SIMPLE STORY. kids understand gen 4 really well and it is complicated.

9:15 it did feel fake, yes. sometimes. the thing is, there are new people working on the music for the show, so they have a different direction with the songs of the movie in general: WAY different than the gen 4. kind of hard to get used to. also pipp's song is just like any other song from a popstar in a movie. not at all the pony vibe we know and love.
*the danger song* was great as a song 'couse it felt like old times, but the message in my eyes was too much. why attack people who are just scared and not just talk about harmony and acceptance, movie?
also OPEN UP YOU EYES and WE GOT THIS TOGETHER are amazing. do not compare them to anything else.
10:50 as a whole movie? my thoughts? I really liked the animation, voice work, writing and characters. the message, plot of the movie, some of the songs and the world building were... rushed and or weird for me, since I am a gen 4 fan. I really felt like Hasbro just went cheap with this movie: starting again with everyone divided just makes me feel like a consumer, not a fan who was valued by Hasbro. so that sucked. It will be hard for me to open up to something new, but I will give gen 5 a watch once the show is out, just to see if I want to see gen 5 or not.

Ive seen a lot that feel We're all gonna abandon G4 after this got released. Im skipping g5 and sticking with G4 Content. Nothing will top Twilight and the girls. I might watch reviews, that's gonna be the extent of my interaction. We still need a conclusion to EQG. And as far as I'm concerned Chrysalis deserved a better ending then to be turned to stone. Id love to have seen her and Starlight go out like Cell vs Gohan or Goku vs Frieza on Namek.
Honestly don't like the new generation. Call me old fashioned but I prefer the good old fashioned my little pony. The previous one, not the older ones. Because the previous one had lots of lessons on being a good friend and had action. I don't think this new one will
