Thanks for the video I have the same problem with my SXP found the throat piece on line for $5.00 a piece so I bought 4 of them so I will have one for in the field and 2 for the work bench. So thanks for the video. Keep your powder dry and your aim straight.
I was having the same issue with not pulling shells out of magazine. I just now stripped my rifle, but found the piece over the throat broken off. Not sure if it's needed to hold the throat on. I'll try putting it all back together tomorrow......... : /
Great video! Do you know if the same process would work for a Winchester 1300? The magazine throat looks the same or at least similar and is also plastic.
I'm not for sure. Mainly because I don't have a winchester 1300. I will ask around my circle and see if I can get my hands on one. So I can better advise. Thanks for watching!
Ok....so i haven't been able to locate one to take a look at it but I did some digging online and found that you have two options. A two piece magazine throat or a one piece magazine throat. If it was me, I'd go with the one piece and the process for removal and installation should be that same as the sxp. I've linked the two different parts below..... www.ebay.com/itm/124682529299 www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/U1238223 Have a Great Day!!!
Thanks great vidio if you had the camo on reciver it might have melted so of these guns had a recall for fireing when you close the slide with out touching trigger or safety l think? I like the gun and price point and a magazine action bars throat is not a deterant to me. On the 140 1400 1500 semiautos you have to press out the magazine tube to change not hard if you have the tools home made and the knowledge. Is the magazine follower plastic?
Absolutely. If it was made out of the same aluminum alloy as the receiver, this 60 year old problem would be eliminated. But then it would go from a 5 dollar part to a 10 dollar part, and the bean counters at Winchester/Herstal group would probably shit themselves.
Academy told me any repairs needed to be done on the gun. You had to send it in to Winchester, so I just called Winchester and ordered the part. I'll do it myself. Thanks for your reply.
Very helpful!
Mine lasted thousands of rounds somehow! At least it is a $5 part and it will run again! Thank you for the tutorial! I wasn't sure how it came out!
It's was a cold icy morning in the duck woods that got mine.
Can you send a link for the $5 I can’t find it that cheap
Thank you for takin the time to make this video . Very helpful .
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching
Wish I had seen this two weeks ago,not my gun so I sent it to the gunsmith.
Thanks! Great info!

Where did you find it? , can you post a a link?
Really helpful mate! Had same issues with mine in the UK. Dont know why winchester wont repair for free as its a common failure in this gun.
I wish I could find a metal upgrade. I called winchester directly and they do not offer one.....
@@morninmcgrewster yeah for sure 👍 ,i think it will be only a matter of time before it will need replacing again.

Good luck. I'd like to see what piece you're talking about. Could you send me a pic? morninmcgrewster@gmail.com

Was the magazine follower able to be removed through this process also. Mine broke and I'm trying to replace it
Yes I believe so. It's been a minute since I done this so don't hold me to it. But I'm pretty sure it came out.

Yes it is.
This is a notorious problem going back to the Winchester model 1200. You would think by now that Winchester would have fixed this common problem.
You would, it's been said before but I'll say it again. I think if it was metal, it would last a lot longer

It needs a 3D print aircraft aluminum one. @@wulfheard
Another SXP bites the dust . Watch out as the slide arms will break next. Good job , it helps to be a Ford owner. Lol
Does this piece make the shells come out of the mag tube when you bring the slide back?
Technically, no, but if it's broken, they will not come out properly or not at all because the trigger group will have too much play.
This guy is GOOD!!!
Thanks for the video. Huge help.
You Are Welcome. Happy Shooting!
Thanks, I have a Sears Ted Williams model 200 20 guage w/ the same issue. This should help
You are welcome. I hope it does. Happy Shooting!
Great job on video- im curious as to how many rounds before it broke?
That I'm not sure of. I can tell you it was a super cold morning in the duck blind when it failed.
Does the throat also fit a winchester 1300 u reckon?
I wish, but probably not
@@morninmcgrewster too bad! Want to have a extra non restricted tube for my old 1300 but parts are hard to find! At least thats ships to sweden
DID YOU PUT ANY GLUE OR THREAD LOCKER BACK ON IT?
I did not
@@morninmcgrewsterthat’s good so next replacement you don’t have to heat it up lol
I bought a sxp defender shotgun, never an sxp again.
Bought mine at Academy Sports, got it home, and it was broke.I didn't even get to shoot it. Thanks
Man, that stinks! I hope Academy took care of you. And replaced the gun

Talk about cheap
It'd be real nice if you could get a metal upgrade.
