Something Like The Movies 🍿📽 full short film

Pheobe detests Ryan. Ryan detests Pheobe. The earth rotates. These are all constants, at least that’s what Ryan and Pheobe think. Pheobe lives her life according to detesting rom coms and debating that real life is nothing like them.
They hate each other, and not in some enemies to lovers trope way. Genuine distaste. Until they get stuck in a storage room together. What if hate is subjective? What if the reason why they hate each other is all some big misunderstanding? What if life is, in fact, Something Like The Movies?

In this production you will see exactly one reoccurring face, Soul Kasim-Parkinson and her amazing acting. You will see mainly new faces though as this production was made in collaboration with the vancouver cinematheque cinelab youth filmmaking program. This production is not solely a Peyton Crawford Production and had a lot of people and components all working together to make it what it was. (Take note of this amazing movie score for example, that was not composed by myself.) This movie was made in the summer between our grade 10 and 12 year, someone just told me today it’s been 4 years since we made Kylie 001 and that is absolutely crazy to me. I mean, we had to start somewhere and it’s cringe-y to watch it back, but we’ve come a long way. And the fact that some of us will be done high school in less than a year is wild. This movie was actually filmed over the span of two days, so keep that in mind with the imperfections and improvements we could have made.
