I'm a biologist, and while I'm finishing my thesis and stressed out beyond my limits and regretting many life decisions, I kind of needed this video to remind myself why I love this field. So thank you!
Biology is such a big field. You have to break down what makes you happy. Do you want to work in a clinical lab, a research lab, out in the field, a mix of roles? Wildlife conservation? When you know what you like, that will help you pick a direction.
in the same boat here. its crazy that you can graduate w a degree in biology and still have no idea what biologists really do in practice or the different paths available
I'm becoming more and more fond of this as we go on. It's so clear how much this host adores the topic and that is SO wonderful. Looking forward to the next!
Thanks for doing a scene about the brilliant George Washington Carver. He is a hero to me. This is one of his most famous and important discoveries. Unfortunately, too many southern farmers rejected his suggestions and emphasized cotton farming. One should read his biography. Also, I recommend the Library of America volume of the works of Edward O. Wilson. I recently read his "Biophilia" and hope to start on "The Diversity of Life" and "Naturalist" soon. Also, I would recommend "A Sand County Almanac & Other Writings on Ecology and Conservation" by Aldo Leopold. 👍🤔😀😄
caught the "turtles all the way down" reference xD honestly really love how crash course is showcasing non-white perspectives on old topics where important progress made by indigenous, black, and other peoples of colour has often been buried.
6:26 Awww it’s a Psydyck! Getting all the ducks in a row and loved the splatoon reference honestly I adore seeing a video on biologist as I’m trying to get my BS in Biology. So this is encouraging.
i'm literally from alabama & i didn't know most of what you said about george washington carver. we used to take field trips in grade school to tuskeegee & everything. wild. thanks so much for the knowledge!
And published to celebrate the National Biologists Day here in Argentina! [the date on which the National Museum of Natural History was created in 1812] Thank you!!!
Apparently some(very small number) of people are actually okay(or at least really used to) living with bed bugs that literally becomes over 70% of their bedding Life is whack
If we had more passion about jobs like this in schools we wouldn't be having so much trouble filling STEM positions. Oh, also the crippling debt costs of college. That also hurts when you can't afford a higher education and also food.
Crash course team, i love your videos, only thing i wish was that if they were from an indian perspective too, like jee etc. Cause even though ap and jee may have some similar syllabus the content in them is kinda different

I find it truly amazing that content with this much effort put into it is completely free for those who can't afford to pay. Love CrashCourse forever
me, having just graduated with my bs in biology, trying to figure out a career path
Medical students sometimes have a bs in biology. It isn't for everyone.
Drug-resistant pathogens. Or an environmental field.

As a Resident Evil player and a Dora watcher, i can confirm i'm a Biologist.

Ok, 42 seconds into my first viewing of Crash Course Biology and dang this fellow's voice is smooth and soothing 😊
Enjoyed your content. As is usual ❤

I love how this series has given so much credits to non-white and non-male scientists which are still underrepresented in the scientific community.
6:26 Psyduck!?
Thank you!
Man, I wish I had this channel and video when I was in school instead of $300 textbook I never opened
ok, visual and verbal references acquired. Thanks, the little extras help! Turtles.
What a fantastic host! So expressive and clear!
I really like this video. That's all. It was really fun to watch and grab my love of the differences of life. Thanks.
Hi everyone. How often do the lessons come out?
"the nearest biologist might be closer than you think" i bet, given that i am a biologist myself :p

Working with salmon spawns has got to be one of the worst jobs ever unless you love dead fish, fish semen, and flies.
No first for me😢
