I would love to hear Patrick O'Connor discuss The Passenger now. To me there is another depth explored through the characters, morality AND mathematics, in a very different way. Still his visual magic abounds. Thank you for this rich discussion!!!
Reading CM for the first time I was struck in the same way as by experiencing Joyce 30 years earlier. The difference is I knew Joyce was supposed to be deep whereas I came upon CM without any preconceptions so was even more impressed
Thanks. So I'm 30 minutes in, is there gonna be physics talk? Also I'm not sure if you should allow the interviewee to respond to what I must assume are text chats.
@@pedrolopez8592 if your point that this title would imply that there's no physics, I'd still expect some relation to that subject - otherwise another word would have been chosen.
I was so excited to listen to this podcast but it failed in so many ways. There was little physics talk. There was little talk of the book. It was more a chinwag around mccarthys books. Also responding to text questions was derailing.

I just got O'Connor's book! Interlibrary loan, I wish I could own it( not at this time) It is wonderful!!! Beautifully printed.
Beautifully written.
Most Mccarthy books that I've read, from Sutree through on to The Road, seem to be quest stories of one sort of another.
At 38:40 we get to see a change of personality which validates George Gurdjieff. Also, how one could understand BM and NCFOM. At 47:38 does it again.
It's interesting to compare McCarthy- esp No Country- to his more pulp detective version-- James Burke.
Can you delve into the work of H.P. Blavatsky. Love and listened to dozens of your interviews. Thanks for your work.
For too long she's been throw into all the so called "theosophist" labeling her "pseudo" is a error.
28:45 until Lawrence Krauss
38:16 He didn't take it out.
Waow. This is great work!

what about Fedrinand Celine? Journey to the end of the night
Rebecca goldstein was a fellow at SFI and probably knows McCarthy well.
Star Trek The Voyage Home was a good movie.
How about Nikolay Aleksandrovich Berdyayev?
Thanks. So I'm 30 minutes in, is there gonna be physics talk?

I think James' mic is just muted

if you look up the gentleman speaking, you'll see the title of his work is Cormac McCarthy, Philosophy and the Physics of the Damned.

Come on… you can’t except a Irish man to discuss Physics.
Amazing content. Sound too low.
Audio seems a bit off on this one. Great work as usual.

Yes,
Shit, now I'm going to have read some of these.

I’d start with blood meridian. It’s free on UA-cam and has the best story AND the best narration I’ve ever heard.
i thought this was morgoths review for a sec
