    Hi Dupree! I wanted to THANK YOU for promoting the game we love so much! Don't worry if you feel like you can't explain it well. You'll continue to learn and grow as you play and teach more! As a professional player who's played the game for 38 years, I can honestly say I wasn't the best at explaining the game when I first started giving private lessons but now I can explain it in a way that ANYONE including a child will understand it. The more you play, the more you teach, the more knowledge you'll gain and the the easier it'll become to explain. YOU DO A GREAT JOB AS IT IS! THANKS AGAIN FOR THE VIDEOS AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK BUDDY!

      @@derekr7814 Because he puts you to sleep with his babble. Would hate to pay him for lessons by the hour. A little less talk and a lot more action. And then when he finally gets around to shooting the shot he edits out his multiple misses and cuts right to the successful one after god knows how many fails. I think I can take him in the game of his choice. I'm actually pretty sporty. Are you backing him?

    Wtf the kid is not claiming to be a pro, just advice from his personal experience. Closed minds don't grow, give him credit for enjoying his passion and putting himself out there. For all the professionals to critique between pro stops and cashing their checks, you sure have a ton of time to be surfing UA-cam looking for recreational shooters to enlighten on the internet.

      Keep doing it, but don't think that posting videos online is going to automatically merit you respect in the pool world. Show me some trophies you've won from regional tournaments in your state and I will respect the shoddy videos you post. Its hard for me to think you even pay rent, and that your parents likely purchased the pool table you play on. And on many drills, you basically just need to demonstrate the muscle memory and how that helps ease anxiety while increasing confidence in the shot at hand, since every shooter has to approach the table with a different technique than you are used to. Fransisco Bustamante has a very unique back-hand stroke utilizing his wrist more than his elbow, which is not a good technique for snooker players, but he still wins tourneys in pool; and since snooker is a harder game than billiards, it would seem like his wild technique is not respectable, yet he wins tourneys, so he merits respect. Do what you are passionate about, but don't demand attention for it if you just post videos from your parents pool table.

    Thanks so much for your videos. An overhead camera as well would really help. I don’t know if this is the right place to ask a question, but here goes. Most of my pool playing has been in bars with tables, and probably a couple of beers. I have been working on a pool stroke instead of just being a banger, and hoper. My way of thinking was if I had a lighter stick like a 20 it would help me have a smoother and lighter stroke. I usually use a heavier stick to break with. Does this make any sense at all I have become somewhat good enough now after a couple years to where I really enjoy this and I’m not so self-conscious about walking into a room with regular players. I don’t ever bet on games. I just go in to enjoy myself. thanks again!!

    What kind of cue are you using? I really like it

  • @MrJdsenior
    @MrJdsenior 4 роки тому +3

    Yes, you have to hit the rail locked shot (both balls) to make it run away from the rail slightly initially, to not get the far side pocket point. I HATE that shot. I've even held my stick across the cushion edge there, to prove to myself that the far point truly is not protruding, and usually they are actually just a bit recessed, due to the cloth tension and direction of pull there, especially the quick and dirty cloth finishing method usually employed there, for simplicity and time required. ;-)
    One problem with the shot is that BOTH balls, if you look at them are actually UNDER the lip of the cushion, as the cushion contacts very slightly above ball center, this is to keep them from flying off the table routinely, but as you probably know, there are ways to hit a ball to purposely make them do that off of a cushion, and to a great degree, especially when the object ball is close to one. And it is nearly impossible to hit a ball without it leaving the table surface (they always fly, just try it with a dime a couple of inches away, and hit the ball with medium speed, and you will see, the coin will not move). This means that when the ball attempts to fly, the rail pushes it away.
    Another fix, if you have the room (a much shorter rail rail shot) is to hit UP at the cue ball, putting top on it, hit softly, with the but of the cue ON the table. Try it, and see what you think. I think I got that last trick from an old Robert Byrnes' book. His books are excellent, BTW. I think that one was called The Complete Book of Pool Shots, or something silly like that, but it had a BUNCH of useful info on a wealth of nonstandard shots like the one you're demonstrating here. Good luck in your pool endeavors.
    There ARE people who could jump that yellow ball, even that close, but the majority of them have last names of Kohler and Massey (there are others, though, again, most of them world class trick shooters). WAYYY beyond my pay grade. Enjoy ,that's the biggest part.

    On the eight ball shot straight line right by the side pocket at time: 6:50, you said both left and right spin. A little confused at what you actually did since we can't see the angle you shot from or your field of view. By the way, thank you so much for all of your tips... You're quite amazing how you make things that don't look like even a possibility... My game, like so many others has dramatically improved...

    Just stumble up in your video Dupree! I absolutely love it, and I shoot pool all the time. I like trying different weird angles on shots, and I like your advise. #Keepitup

    I am an A player and have been for a long time. The first shot I already knew long time. Second one off the side nipple I haven't seen before; nice shot. I have used the pocket cushing points before; we used to call them nipples. Problem is different tables; different rails; Never know how the ball will come off them. High percentage shots. All the shots; but one; he made I could make but differently and I think a lot easier. If you have a nice table with nice rails that rolls nice you can make a lot of shots. Not the case for a lot of the pool halls and these leagues traveling. Hey what year is that table? My family has an 1896 JE cane that looks the same. Don't see them too often with those legs. Great video. Thanks for posting.

    Jump cuts don't help.... how many times did you attempt the on rail straight shot before you got the clip of making it?
    Shooting the second shot you demonstrated (side pocket nipple shot) will deform the rail causing the nipple to flatten out while creating a buldge in the flat section right next to nipple. This will make future down the rail shots that much more likely to miss.

    So many "pool experts" in the comment section of a how to make pool shots video lol. If you're so good why are you watching a kid teach you shots?

      My thoughts exactly: lots of people criticizing (in the incorrect way) what I find to be a very entertaining video. I guess the "keyboard experts" are not that great in real life pool.

    So I really didn't get your directions... are you spinning the 9 ball clockwise or counter-clockwise? I'm assuming counter-clockwise.
