Thank you for your comment. Leicester Belgrave Road is on the GNR section of the GN&LNWR railway, so would be on a different video, but yes, even on that video, finding complete photos of the station was a challenge.

The nickname for the M&GNJR was the "muddle and get nowhere railway"!

‘Peninsularising’ word of the week I need to try and get into a conversation! Another great video, thank you!

Thank you Gordon. The phrase first came to my attention when the Old Street roundabout in London was changed to allow better pedestrian use of the public realm

That was good, thank you. No need for the kilometres though. We only use miles in Britain (see every road sign in the country).

Thank you kindly. Try telling young people about yards, chains and furlongs and they will look at you perplexingly.

@@MattDavis_BeechingsGhosts I know what you mean. I was brought up completely with metric, but I still work completely in Imperial.
Sadly, I fear your likely audience for this video isn't going to be youngsters though. It's going to be oldies like me.

The Stamford and Essendine Railway closed in 1959, not 1963. The Stamford East station was closed to goods in 1963. The small section of the Stamford and Essendine Railway was kept to serve Mirlees Blackstone's until 1967.

Thanks for your comment. Essendine and Ryhall stations closed in 1959 but the track remained in place as a route for freight until the closure of the Priory Lime Works in 1963. I use several sources for this information including DL Franks but I can't find anything regarding Mirlee's Blackstone's, or at least, I couldn't when I released the Stamford & Essendine back in February 2022, which you also commented on recently. If you could provide me with the source of your information, I can ensure I don't repeat it in future videos.

@MattDavis_BeechingsGhosts I mainly got it so I could find out what locomotives worked on the S&ER as I am planning on building a layout based on both of Stamfords two stations.

I noticed you didn't mention Great Ponton railway station south of Grantham on the ECML

Thanks for your comment. The M&GNR is the subject here, so any other lines have some stations mentioned for a number of reasons, but I don't include all the local stations in the area away from the railway being discussed. You may notice Syston appears on many of my maps for no explainable reason except that I live there!

@@MattDavis_BeechingsGhosts I live in the middle at Colsterworth so that's why I noticed Great Ponton Station was missing Corby Station that was is about 3 miles from me
