Why is a scene from Halo 5 at the beginning of Halo 2?! That seems to be the number one question for this video. I didn't know it was part of Halo 5 until all of you guys mentioned it.
it was, they really tried to force in the terrible story and characters of halo 5 into the beginning of halo 2s cutscenes when no one like their bad game. they have since thankfully removed it from halo 2.
For the back story . As the arbiter mentioned to agent Locke about the bond and circumstances as Locke wasn’t in the same line I’d combat during the first 4 halo game events presumably not only a halo 5 teaser but also a way to make it as sage way to halo 2 as this is the gane that the arbiter is referring to so it jumps you back in time in a sense
This is a story telling technique that works well when people seeing the H2 remaster are up-to-date with the overall Halo story up to the point where Halo 5 was about to be released. The H2 remaster cinematics are framed in a way that it is like a story being told by Arbiter when he's talking to Locke. Arbiter is telling Locke the story of his history with Chief, so all of H2 Anniversary is essentially a flashback. None of the cutscenes are from Halo 5 game, but the scenes between Locke and Arbiter would take place during the events of Halo 5 chronologically.
In lore, Chief is so terrified of the flood that when he saw Sergeant Johnson in between Halo CE and Halo 2, he tried to kill Johnson because Chief thought he was a flood since he saw Johnson die in the Marines helmet video in CE. It took a bunch of people to hold him back and convince him to not shoot Sergeant Johnson, that's how terrified the chief was. Also, Halo 2 is probably one of the most iconic games in history and they did the remaster so well, wish Halo CE got the same treatment though since its remaster ruined the charm of the classic.
@@WarriorHumble24In a comic or book a flood infection form the little guys almost killed chief during halo CE i think hiddenxperia did a video on it or someone did
I give the remaster 50/50, sound designs all over the place - UNSC weapons sound nice, but oh my the Covenant Weapons sound like ass especially how dogwater the Energy Sword sounds. - Blur having little guidance on what to do with the cutscenes (they did well with what they had, 343 failed to give direction - this is heavily seen with how characters interacted, such as the Arbiter acting like a Brute when engaging Johnson and Keys)
Don’t know if it’s to late to add this but, the at giant monster with the tentacles is referred to as the Gravemind. It’s the hive mind sort of queen bee for the flood. it’s created by collected biomass that the infection forms bring in. It organizes the flood (the parasite) making them a much greater threat. As any body that gets infected not only loses their body but any knowledge they possess gets added to the floods. Which is why the flood are able to start using vehicles and ships.
I’m not sure if you ever figured this out or not, but this is Halo 2 anniversary which is a remaster of Halo 2 from 2004. The anniversary edition has remastered cutscenes and upgraded graphics as you can see and was released back in 2013. Halo 2 is considered the peak when it comes to story and lore within the halo universe. The writing and character development is incredible and really brings a cool twist by diving into the covenants perspective. Hope you enjoy my personal favorite halo!
@@WarriorHumble24no prob! Also, that very first and last cutscenes with Spartan locke are a teaser for Halo 5. They added it in the anniversary edition, it’s not in the original.
Fun fact, the cut scene when Mr chief gave back the covenant their bomb was supposed to he a mission where you went inside the covenant ship but like other great ideas it was scrapped
You see Locke at the beginning because it takes place years after Halo 2. Spartan Locke worked for the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) prior to becoming a Spartan. He basically did a lot of really shady shit for the United Earth Government before becoming a Spartan. That background is why they want him to hunt down the Master Chief. Chief has gone AWOL for reasons I can't disclose until you see or Play Halo 4, but ONI and the UNSC fear bad optics from Chief going AWOL and being hunted. He's the hero of humanity and they're afraid of what him disobeying orders could mean for their hold on power. The last cutscene between Locke and the Arbiter is when Arbiter has finished explaining his history and relationship with Master Chief as he is looking for him in Halo 5.
I remember the cutscenes in the original version of this game blew me away and when i got my xbox one the anniversary cutscenes were on a whole different level. Blur did a really awesome job making the cutscenes cinematic.
I love the moment when Chief requests to leave the station, Hood asks why, then Chief responds and Hood stops what he’s doing, thinks, smirks and gives the go ahead. He definitely knew what Chief was gonna do lol
26:17 that my friend, is the Type 47 Ultra Heavy Assault Platform or colloquially known as a Scarab. It's essentially a refitted Covenant excavation platform and there's more than one type. This variant is referred to by the Covenant as the Protos Pattern Fortress Breaker. There's also the Deutoros Pattern Fortress Breaker, designated by the UNSC as the Type 47B Ultra Heavy Assault Platform. There are other variants but these two types are the ones you'll see most commonly throughout the mainline halo games
Sorry but the very first cutscene has nothing to do with Halo 2, I'm sure you already know by now, but 343 just threw that in there as a teaser for Halo 5 which was........... great.
28:00 Fun fact about this scene. The Covenant only did a jump in atmosphere after Cortana did it with a stolen Covenant ship. The Covenant had no idea how accurate their own slipspace technology actually was. Cortana was shocked to find out how advanced the Covenant slipspace technology really was and how under utilized it was by them. Human slipspace technology was only accurate enough to place a ship inside a star system.
Where did the "it's time for some hazard pay" thing come from? That's not in halo 2 that i've ever seen. update: hold up, all that ODST stuff is completely new to me, that's not halo 2, but I do want to see it. What is that?
So hazard pay is additional pay for dangerous conditions so it isn't only for Halo 2. In this, I said it because of the combat situations and also that was said a lot in the Marines. Also I'm assuming the ODST you are referring to at the beginning of the video, that is Halo 5 according to others and I haven't reacted to Halo 5 yet
@@WarriorHumble24 I know what hazard pay is, my confustion was because the cutscene with the character who said that and the following odst fighting the elite minor isnt from Halo 2. It's not from Halo 5 either. It's animated by blur, which only touched Halo 2, but that cutscene isn't from that game.
I’m sure you know by know but I think your confusing the flood. You kept calling them parasite. They are a parasite and they are called the flood. There not two different things. Love the videos keep it up
The first and last cutscene is literally just an ad for Halo 5 (the worst halo game no less lol). Its something they put in the remaster which is dumb causer every new player gets confused by it for obious reasons.

Presumably as a teaser for Halo 5: Guardians, which released the following year (2015) after Halo 2: Anniversary released.

it's such a huge complaint that 343 removed it MCC when you start the caimpaign now. the cutscene can still be seen in the extras.

wow, that's cool how they spliced the day at the beach short with the actual cutscenes. 19:01 - 22:10

At a certain point they can do some crazy stuff like even warp travel like the gravemind used on chief and arby
