Thanks for watching and great question! I'm sorry you are having this experience.
Unfortunately, there is not a straight answer. I am not sure. We did not have any issues hearing with either case. With that said, I know that my wife's dad & stepdad both had issues hearing with fully enclosed cases, like the Sportlink. Neither of them had the Sportlink, but they had similar cases.
These type cases rely on the sound vibrations to pass the sound through a thin membrane that covers the "speaker" hole. Maybe something is blocking the membrane from vibrating or the holes.
