I think that's the brilliance of Mr Fantastic's design. Even though he's a dps his kit supports teamplay as well since he can shield allies and peel for his supports. He also works well as a tank hybrid making the 1/3/2 comp a lot easier to manage since you take less pressure of your normal tank.
Using your E to protect team mates and also as an escape tool feels fairly good in my experience. Granting that bonus health to a support can really mess up a diver and then you're also there to pressure them away. Overall all his abilities are so versatile and interesting on top of having to manage your elacticity resource, he's really one of the coolest heroes they've added to the game.
The only thing is that its hard to aim correctly in the chaos. If a melee dps is on my support the E can easily target the enemy instead. It'd still be damage but not the intended play when you need it.
@@BDC040905020 hes referring to that one extra melee you need to hit at the end of the combo to get the transformation, and to instead use it in between the two E's instead of at the end so that the transformation activates immediately after the second E
Something you missed about the instant-tank mode combo: you can activate 1-2 abilities at 100 elasticity BEFORE becoming tank mode by spamming them as you reach 100. For example, you can build 100 charge then immediately use the Lshift ability to walk in a little bit and make space without losing any hp BEFORE going into tank mode - as soon as Lshift ends you will become a tank. Doing so allows the other cooldowns to tick down for a couple seconds before becoming tank, so you can do things like cancelling tank mode early to escape/finish a kill on a high mobility hero/shield a team mate with your E. 3:30
The one tip I’ve found is that he is amazing when playing with the team. A lot of his survivability comes with people being around him, and with his tank form he and another tank can clean house. I found pushing in with a Dive tank usually works as everyone has to either shoot the Mr. Fantastic or the tank, which both can kill the team quickly if left unchecked
I definitely feel like this needs to be a new series for this channel. A how to play is absolutely perfect because you see things others don't. Please make more of these, straight 🔥🚒🔥
Something you didn't cover here. His punches do not pierce. That is to say they'll stop at the first character in the line it draws. If someone is standing perfectly behind someone and you swing through them, it will only hit the person in front of them even if they were in range and the hand visually travelled through them. Also, this combo is much better if you don't burn both E abilities back to back. I prefer to use E before the first punch to either buff an ally or hit an enemy, this way you don't necessarily need the shift after or you can cancel big mode early and get some extra sweeps.
Something to add, when doing the inbiggen combo it would be good to use your last e on an enemy to close the gap and you can go tank mode right in their face
The combo is perfect But sometimes you might want to reconsider his other uses before rushing into tank mode: - Sometimes you can save an ally with your dash shielding - Sometimes you can secure a kill by the right click's CC - The reach of your non-tank left click is pretty good, combined with the flailing mechanic, you can "sometimes" dish out more damage this way - Doing this cycle non-stop would make you predictable and enemies might time their quick kill combos right after your reflect

I've been playing him as anti-dive and consistently get Ace. Just hit a grapple on a flanker who's either preparing an engage or an escape and they become fodder. You can also thrust into your teammates that are getting dove to boost their hp and keep them from getting bursted against chars like Spidey and Magik. Haven’t watched the video yet but ur intro alone got you the like man 😂 literally every video I’ve seen so far I stg just feels like the saw another UA-camrs guide video and just said the same exact thing followed by a game of them playing the guy in quick play 😂
I've personally been starting with an E and then using right click into another E just to get the hit on the right click more consistently. It's very slight but it does also put your E on an earlier cooldown so you might get your combo back slightly faster, though you don't pull the enemy as far. I think depending on the situation varying the ability order may be optimal.
I love this style of video/tactics. The one thing I would like added is how to counter the somebody playing the character well. This makes it seem like there’s no good counter if you play him optimally.
I think ironman with hulk teamup and Punisher (with or without teamup) both do a good job because they can shred through your health when you're small and make enough pressure to kill big Reed if he tries to take the front line at all

The fact that E has 2x charges, and grants allies a lot more shield than damage it does to enemies, basically means you should be looking to use the E twice on allies BEFORE you hit 100% Elasticity to grant the max amount of shields to your team. Then you can use your Alt-Fire to drag enemies close to you/Drag them into other enemies as you hit 100% to start slapping shit. Alternatively, jump back to your Tank with your E, then jump back into the enemy with your second E. Its very.... flexible, in how you can get to 100% But that animation cancel double E combo on enemy is perfect for when you get some enemies alone you wanna kill asap. Unrelated note: Wolverine salivates at the idea of a dps with mobility having 1100 max hp all the time. He's REALLY good against Mr Fantastic. Apparently Adamantium cuts Rubber like paper.
Helpful guide. The burst damage combo especially. I tend to play Mr. Fantastic more defensively, as more of a peeler/shielder than just a second tank. So the numbers aren't as flashy, but I feel like I'm being more useful to the team. Spamming that breadnbutter combo denies you the ability to protect teammates or using your E as an escape. But I suppose if you're constantly switching into tank mode, then there's less of a reason to escape. I think I need to find some midground between my natural playstyle vs this one, but this was very insightful.
Possible one of the best how to play X videos out there, the fact that you included some numbers (damage/slow%) that isn't in-game was very helpful, especially the ult. well done
This guide is so much better than the copy and paste of going through the kit that I see everywhere else on UA-cam, any tips for how to use the team up ability with invisible woman? I’m not sure I fully understand how it works
I’ve been playing him non stop. I was a tank main in overwatch but didn’t like any tanks in this game but now I have one. I didn’t know the animation cancel so thanks.
Idk if you play Invisible Woman but if you make a guide for her, one thing i learned is that her damage/heals per second is higher if you aim sort of at the ground for close range targets. Basically you want her orbs to bounce back as soon as possible after passing through your target. Shooting at targets with walls behind them also works. The worst thing for her to do is shoot straight at an enemy who is right in her face.
The pull ability gives allies a shield so he's..... FANTASTIC for protecting support. He can turn around, zip to an ally giving them a shield and bullying the dive as they try to escape.
The shows me a lot of tech I couldn't glean. When I first played him I thought he felt weak for a DPS, but then when I got into thick melees using the E ability I could melt enemies. I knew tank mode dealt more damage but I didn't realize HOW MUCH more damage. The best success I had with him before this was playing him as a tanky support, I'd just constantly chest-bump all my allies to get them through clutch moments in between brawling with the enemy team.
This is by far the best guide ive seen. Here are the tips ive learned myself. Turn aim assist off. Normal mister fantastic really isnt that bad lol dont rely on using tank mode 100% of the time. You can use youre team up ability right before tank mode literally making you invincible. Or on the flip side, instead of using his most valuable skill after getting of tank mode you can instead use his team up ability and just be a little more careful for a few seconds then use the balloon skill. And 1 last thing. I find the best time to pull enemies together instead of towards you is when your team is already up on numbers because it will made a nice setup to push more momentum on the whole enemy team rather than just one person. But when both teams are even on numbers i almost always just pull them towards me and try to create the numbers advantage and once thats done then start pulling them together. Overall this character is fuckin busted. Also one stupid thing about magneto i found is his bubble can prevent you from getting a bounce...i was trying to kill a healer and a magneto bubble saved em because that was the only person in my range lol
I'm having to translate all these mouse buttons and such to the PS5 buttons by looking at the ability icons and such to know the combo you're talking about 😂

I just started playign because I am a big Fantastc 4 fan, and specially Red Richards, so thank for the advanced tips. I`ll " main" all Fantastic 4 eventually, I like this hero family that much.
Not sure if I missed it in the video, but a (possible) extra tip: I'm pretty sure since his left click is technically melee, it *goes through* Dr. Strange's shield. Not sure about Magneto's but it probably will do the same. Correct me if I'm wrong cus it's possible i just angled my hits well but every time i attack a Strange with shield up he just takes the damage.
IDK i personally have saved so many allies with his e before clutching them so they can heal i mean it is kind of a similar thing only you do it to and ally first but i guess i play him different then this
His M1 doesn't qualify as a melee attack. Strange's shield will block it and prevent him from generating Elasticity. It also stops his M2 if it blocks either grab.
His ultimate does NOT do more damage with each hit. The first bounce hits for the most with a drop off afterwards but the slowdown effects keep stacking
U don’t have to shift just because it’s your little gimmickie combo, it is much better to save it to deny big CDs for your team, when you already have a pick on the enemy you don’t want to stand around shifting no damage, you go forward and just punch to enter tank mode, if a big CD is coming then you have your shift to deny it otherwise you just enter tank form faster
I've tried him yesterday I only wish his ult was easier to control cause I don't feel that I can control where I want him to bounce easily. Unless there are special tricks and tips that I've missed ?
8:15 you don't really need the ping, your E has the same range and it puts a targeting reticle on your enemy. right click has a 20m range on your first arm and 25m on your second arm, so it might help there, but it's a bit wonky to use during combat. ok now that i think about it if your E is on cooldown you don't see the targeting reticle, and also during tank form, when your range is 10m. but at the same time, given the rotation on your abilities, are you even in a position to need the targeting reticle, cause if E is on cooldown you are already in their faces about to go tank. and during tank you are again already in their faces. idk man i think im nerding out to much over this, imma go grab some sleep. also your right click does not give you extra health and does not need to hit to give you 30 elasticity. so this combined with your E's guarantees 90 elasticity, you just need to hit 2 melees and you're as strong as ben.(also you really need to hit 2 melee, not 2 people with a single one, elasticity goes up for just one hit per arm attack) i really liked how you weaved these abilities together to give you basically a perfect rotation. it is kinda intuitive, you pull them to your range (btw your rightclick only pulls enemies for 10m, so basically they will always be within 10m away from you when you pull them in, and if you move backwards you will be max 15m away, perfect for your E or basic attack). you bonk them with your belly twice, get 500hp, go tank, get even more hp, then just go invulnerable why not. now do it all again. trick is to find those basic attack places, and to save your shift if not needed. but you will be focused usually when you get out of tank mode so yeah, maybe alternative is to reposition closer to the team with E. idk man im out actually wait, i tested the ranges from above and apparently the info on the site does not match the in game reality. maybe it is because i am capped at 75fps but they fixed that bug from what i saw. your E is actually approximately 1-2 m shorter that your basic attacks, so you do need the ping and also you don't get the perfect range for your E if you pull them in and move back, you have to stop when they get airborn, and then you are in perfect range. how is that usefull? well...
Absolute mong UA-camrs, they think the game is only on PC. They alienate potential subscribers by catering to only one platform. It's not difficult to refer to actions by their in-game name.
I hope his range gets buffed..just lore wise it's a bit fucked up that wanda with her auto target beam can tickle an iron man at max ceiling height. but the literal stretchy boy has t-rex arms..
I assure you, it is absolutely necessary that I share my shield with the psylocke in the pre battle lobby

I like how he´s not a straight forward character and you need to be thoughtfull and creative to have good results, just like the actual Mr. Fantastic. I just started playign because I am a big Fantastc 4 fan, and specially Red Richards, so thank for the advanced tips. I`ll " main" all Fantastic 4 eventually, I like this hero family that much.
Phenomenal video my man
I just started with this guy for the first time today and I’m already dangerous with him
i swear this game is almost like a fighting game, dam these are some good tips, didn't think of using ping to tell distance, thats genius!
So happy that even after I stopped playing apex, I can still look forward to some good old merchant content, fantastic work
Thank you for this, it has alreafy helped so much compared to how i was playing him befor!
Showing the actual characters damage damage is soooo useful!!!
I literally played one game, did horrific and was convinced this guy was trash. Then watched this video and now I love him. Thank you!
Great video!
My damage output over doubled, and I feel like as long as I am getting some heals I can't die. Brilliant Advice.
Considering it's a melee, pretty common knowledge at this point that all of them go through shields aside from Cap's....
Your accent made me hear "Wow, you all can read"😂😂😂😂 I'm dying. Great vid btw
Thanks for the hitting multiple enemy tip
I didn't know that 🥂
Thanks dor combo as well
Actual good guide
Nice guide!
Thanks for the great guide. His kit and playstyle is like Ramattra in OW2 but more flexible. (pun intended)
Good explanation of his combos🎉
He is litrally unkillable by so many heros its bonkers 😢 best tank if untilised well and he is a dps 😮 crazy strong 💪
Wellp, he's gonna be my secondary vanguard main besides Magneto
You gonna do a counter vid too? :)
16:27 "Now here's The Thing" *is showing Mr. Fantastic instead...*
The only reason I play as Mr fantastic is ofc to give people..ahemm... *shield*
IDK i personally have saved so many allies with his e before clutching them so they can heal i mean it is kind of a similar thing only you do it to and ally first but i guess i play him different then this
thats what i was searching for when typing how to play mr fantasticl
Console players: 😒 now I have to find the buttons to translate
I now fear fantastic, and will forever view him as a tank until the opponent shows me they can’t play him right
there's something very funny about one of the major pitfalls of playing reed is that it's easy to overextend
His M1 doesn't qualify as a melee attack. Strange's shield will block it and prevent him from generating Elasticity.
It also stops his M2 if it blocks either grab.
Ayyyye. Teaching me just like the early day of Apex lmao
Melee ? Isn't that just his normal attack ? Does his melee button do the same thing ?
His ultimate does NOT do more damage with each hit. The first bounce hits for the most with a drop off afterwards but the slowdown effects keep stacking
U don’t have to shift just because it’s your little gimmickie combo, it is much better to save it to deny big CDs for your team, when you already have a pick on the enemy you don’t want to stand around shifting no damage, you go forward and just punch to enter tank mode, if a big CD is coming then you have your shift to deny it otherwise you just enter tank form faster
When the best time to press C? Cause it doesn't so fat results im constantly forgetting about it
what about the teamup ability? I don't really understand what it does
I love playing tank. So happy Rivals made a tank with more killing potential.
0:03 thank you! I can read. I hate when the video is half reading to me lol
“I’m not going to go over his abilities”
*Immediately goes over his abilities*
how do you use his LT i want to grab 2 players but it only ever grabs one or i can dash into them i dont get it
9:33 wait what happens when a target goes through a strange portal that ends before you get there?
How does that combo translate to controller?
I've tried him yesterday I only wish his ult was easier to control cause I don't feel that I can control where I want him to bounce easily. Unless there are special tricks and tips that I've missed ?
8:15 you don't really need the ping, your E has the same range and it puts a targeting reticle on your enemy. right click has a 20m range on your first arm and 25m on your second arm, so it might help there, but it's a bit wonky to use during combat. ok now that i think about it if your E is on cooldown you don't see the targeting reticle, and also during tank form, when your range is 10m. but at the same time, given the rotation on your abilities, are you even in a position to need the targeting reticle, cause if E is on cooldown you are already in their faces about to go tank. and during tank you are again already in their faces. idk man i think im nerding out to much over this, imma go grab some sleep.
also your right click does not give you extra health and does not need to hit to give you 30 elasticity. so this combined with your E's guarantees 90 elasticity, you just need to hit 2 melees and you're as strong as ben.(also you really need to hit 2 melee, not 2 people with a single one, elasticity goes up for just one hit per arm attack) i really liked how you weaved these abilities together to give you basically a perfect rotation. it is kinda intuitive, you pull them to your range (btw your rightclick only pulls enemies for 10m, so basically they will always be within 10m away from you when you pull them in, and if you move backwards you will be max 15m away, perfect for your E or basic attack). you bonk them with your belly twice, get 500hp, go tank, get even more hp, then just go invulnerable why not. now do it all again. trick is to find those basic attack places, and to save your shift if not needed. but you will be focused usually when you get out of tank mode so yeah, maybe alternative is to reposition closer to the team with E. idk man im out
actually wait, i tested the ranges from above and apparently the info on the site does not match the in game reality. maybe it is because i am capped at 75fps but they fixed that bug from what i saw. your E is actually approximately 1-2 m shorter that your basic attacks, so you do need the ping and also you don't get the perfect range for your E if you pull them in and move back, you have to stop when they get airborn, and then you are in perfect range. how is that usefull? well...
Can you do this with console?
to escape when flanking ill usually try and use my e ability on any teammates behind me not always possible tho
For someone on Ps5 can you tell me what the controls would be n how to set up melee cancel 🙏
I think it's R2 then R3 for the first alternating punches, then two reel ins/shields
Not sure though
It should be R2>L2>R2>L1>L1>R1-The second R2 is the reel in you want to cancel with the first L1
Absolute mong UA-camrs, they think the game is only on PC. They alienate potential subscribers by catering to only one platform. It's not difficult to refer to actions by their in-game name.
I ate a psylocke ult and one shot someone full health, I also did the same with Ironman. The move definitely can one shot.
I hope his range gets buffed..just lore wise it's a bit fucked up that wanda with her auto target beam can tickle an iron man at max ceiling height. but the literal stretchy boy has t-rex arms..
thank you very kindly sir
