69.2km/h CRASH! Megavalanche 2023 - soft snow and Mega carnage - one of the world’s craziest races!

- Megavalanche 2023 - mass start madness on Pic Blanc above Alpe d’huez. Warm night-time temperatures resulted in soft snow and difficult conditions. I finished 3rd in my qualifying heat which gave me a front row position but I chose to be in the middle of the track right behind Jack Reading. Unfortunately I got a bad start stuck in the ruts at the beginning and then got some momentum further down before tagging another rider and having a HUGE crash! Thankfully he was fine and I just need a couple weeks of rest before I’m ready to roll again…

That's brutal mate. Ironic the sludgey conditions made for a slower, cleaner first turn just for you to have a massive slam just after it. Hope the rib is all healed up soon 👍
Haha, tell me about it!! Ironic indeed but to be fair I chose to go far right on the second part to get a better run on the snow and make up some ground so it’s a little bit self inflicted 😅 Making good progress so far thanks - starting to feel a bit more comfortable again 🙌

@@jamesy_boy_shirley yeah thanks... I would so really wanted too but I live in at the other side of World in Canada.. if I do I would self Practice the basics too do Maneuver Biking in Slippery Snow.
And I would only try it when it's all Smoothed and frozen so the Snow is hard enough not to sink in.
I think you started from front line not behind jack reading . This were your mistake. If you started from front line you can finished in at least top 10 .
Unfortunately poor Jack didn’t finish the race either! Haha. It’s a crazy event.
