- The Parrot Anafi is a full featured 4K drone that sadly is no longer in production. I had not flown mine in at least a year. It was time to take it out for a quick flight. Thanks for posting this video, nice to see the Anafi again. I agree it’s a shame they don’t make consumer drones anymore. We would probably be on a third or fourth generation by now. something that would be a good DJI competitor.

There ARE STILL Refurbs for sale. Extended kit (3 battery) going for $380-400. I bought a DJI AIR 2S Fly More refurbished (from DJI) last week for $425 off and you could not distinguish it from new (I have bought many new to compare. Even batteries seem brand new with full flight times, zero cycles etc. More than just reset to zero, these are essentially new. Amazing.
I agree, many times refurbs are the way to go.

You had to tell it to land because you chose "End Behavior- Hover" right under return RTH settings, saying "We don't want it to land" - so there's that, lol!

I just got a new controller for mine after 4-5 years and I can't remember how to change direction lol I'm so glad to have it up in the air again! I love mine! Now to figure out how to work it again!

Can't say for sure but you're standing right next to a metal roof shelter which could be disturbing the Wi-fi. You should walk out into the middle of the field and see if you have better luck.

I so agree with that statement. DJI really has the consumer drone world all to themselves.
Did you think about the fact that you’re still using a wireless microphone though? If you record using it as a standalone microphone to the SD card with the receiver turned off, does it still try to transmit or can you set it not to?

Glad to see someone still showing love to the old Anafi in '23, definitely one of my favorite camera drones of all, it was definitely way ahead of its time. Its small but not too tiny, great stable image with video or stills, quick and nimble or slow and cinematic, waypoints that allow you to even land at remote locations and a lot of people may not realize but you can even do entry level 3d mapping with it. All but one of the videos on my channel containing drone footage was actually shot on the Anafi. Range was definitely the weak point though to be honest it was still capable of flying way beyond LOS in most areas I ve been. Now that I m watching this I may have to check Ebay for another, since my old one is at the bottom of a lake now...

It's my drone that I use and its great. Wish the battery would charge faster tho.
I agree, they do take a long time to charge.
Still use it as a backup drone. And it flies indoors well.

This will sound mean but I think we sometimes look back at old drones with rose colored glasses. It's like when a guy tried to tell me the Mavic Pro, Mavic Air or Mavic 2 Pro was perfect at launch. The Parrot Anafi was a mess at launch and a lot of features were "Pay to Play" which was dirty. Then there's the HORRIBLE transmission it had.
Sorta true. I bought the 2 extra features for only 99 cents each. But still, I get your point.
I forgot about that pay to play deal.
this is one i didnt buy marcus,i did however have the beebop as my first drone and loved it and thats what started my love for drones and it has only grown worse as i now own over 20 drones and like yourself i review them on my channel

These drones were way more fun than the Dji counterparts. I think the simplicity had a lot to do with it.

By the way, how come there's a lawn? I mean park? Doesn't it usually end up with the goverment illegally occupying it and building new structures, housing (illegally) ? I saw several cases like those. Especially this lawn looks very juicy. It's literally golden, it's like an actual golden fish, not a goldfish. Even i'm eyeing on this property and i'm a advocate for against such tyrannical gov actions! Now imagine the gov! They'll be collecting trillions for this plot of land

The range is limited on this one. It's good for about .5 KM.
Do you get the strong interference only out at that park? Or do you only ever fly that thing out there? Because I have this drone and this thing can go a lonnnng way out before getting interferences for me out in my bow hunting country

20! When you go out to fly, you face the same level of difficulty deciding which one to use that a dog faces in a forest!
I tried 5G Wi-Fi in my neighborhood and I was able to go a mile or so away. Way better than the 2.4 in town

@@IdahoQuadcopter try where you were on 5G first compared to 2.4 I'm sure you'll go a lot farther. All Wi-Fi routers have 2.4 GHz not all have 5 GHz

This drone format is the best! Perfect for all kind of filmmaking. Video Feed and Transmission no so great on the Anafi.. But, on the other hand, I even made a video talking about why DJI and Autel needs to copy this drone format.
It was a drone ahead of it's time. I wish that Parrot was still in the consumer drone business.
The way back machine is working again. I really enjoyed this drone five years ago, and it’s a shame about the signal. But it didn’t seem as bad back than because there was a lot of Wi-Fi drones around that weren’t that great either. But by today’s standards it doesn’t measure up. Great video, thanks for sharing.
That's right Ron. What was an annoyance a few years ago, is unacceptable now.
Well, you know I have a soft spot for this drone. I have large hands and this is my favorite controller. The paddle for the camera is light-years better idea than any scroll wheel.
I flew mine out where there were no wifi around and it did well. See my Brickyard video for that.
The smart functions works really really well. Parrot should have released a new version of this unit with OA. I love the option of being able to just toss it up and it'll hang from a string! FreeFlight 6 is sooo adjustable... I did a clip on that too 😆.
I'm gonna charge mine and fly it tomorrow 😆😆

I still have this fun toy drone, and yeah it’s a shame about the signal. The only way to make it go far is the leap of faith type of flying by using precision planning with the way points. When I say leap of faith it's because you won't see anything on your FPV screen until it arrives closer towards you at the end of the mission. So you have to be very careful when dropping your pins on the map for the way point. I still have a soft spot for it and can never get rid of mine even though the Wifi sadly makes this drone unusable in today's standards. Thank you for the nostalgic video. 👍

Use flight plans. The connection issue doesn't matter when using flight plans.

Oh i love wasting money on yesteryear crap. Got myself a brand new Galaxy Tab S4 which has Super AMOLED, S-Pen, Samsung DeX & headphone jack! Way cheaper than the newer S6 Lite which lacks a headphone jack, a amoled screen and also doesn't support DeX. I paid less for more with the compromise of no software upates and i couldn't care less. Movies and youtube are a absolutely treat to the eyes, coppled with the finely tuned AKG quad stereospeakers hah! A delight i'm tellin ya. Oh it has Mobile Data compatbility too. Beefy Snapdragon 835 chip. Only for 150

I originally was looking at the Mavic Pro and the Anafi. I ended up getting the Mavic Pro. Then later added a Mavic Air 2. I always kind of wished I'd gotten an Anafi. About six months ago, I bought a refurbished Anafi on ebay for $275. I really like the Anafi. The wifi connection to the drone is it's one weak area. If I have a little altitude and a clear line of sight it has a good connection for as far as I can see to fly it. But when I get closer to the ground with any trees, buildings and such between us, it loses connection. Any time that's happened the Anafi has always returned safely to home. It's a fun drone and I do like the camera and of course, no geofencing. I've seen some good deals on the Autel Nano +. I like that drone, but haven't pulled the trigger on one, yet.
I agree. I'll never sell this one. It's just too much fun.
Thanks for the good video, I live in Meridian and have enjoyed your local videos. I've had a toy drone for a few years and have never been able to fly it very well in my small back yard. Maybe I'll try it out at Hero's Park where there is a lot more room. I have a EXO Black Hawk on order and may try it out at Hero's Park when I get it. Thanks again for your great videos.

Hi Marcus, I love my Anafi! the thing is a BEAST. Quiet too! The one negative is, as you pointed out, is the wifi connectivity issues. Really this one's Achilles heal. The other thing is that my batteries seem to take a long time to charge. Definitely looking forward to you taking it out to Snake River!!
