When you first watch an anime, you have no taste. Therefore, everything is good. And for people who watched SAO as a newcomer, and enjoyed it, even if they realized its flaws later on, most of them can't bring themselves to hate on it, much like myself.
Exactly! Sao was the anime that got me more interested into the community. Even though I know it has a lot of flaws and it's not the best I've seen, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy the show. It'll always have a special place in my heart. But if there someone who's been in the community for a long time and somehow never watched it up until now, then I get why they wouldn't like it so much.
You remind me the day when I first watched SAO as a newcomer. I though SAO is the greatest anime ever and Asuna is my wife bablabla... even if I realized this anime is not perfect but I still enjoy the new season of SAO. Just love it without reason.
Honestly I enjoyed watching that more than I did SAO lol. But I grew up on intense novella drama so watching that trash MC get his head cut off was pretty funny for me. If Kirito got his ass kicked by a legitimate villain/supporting character it might get some of my respect back.
SAO2 second half. Kirito lost a duel to a girl who has only played SAO for a few months. Having the protagonist lose just to lose is a meh (and in my opinion a shit) idea. Lots of stories do it. The story is better when there is an actual reason why the protagonist loses. The reason Kirito lost was a great one. Too bad very few people actually watched the second half. There is a deeper story in SAO. Many viewers get swept up in the action and don't notice it. The real story of SAO is mostly in the second halves. The show has some serious structural flaws. Giggurk says SAO is popular because its about gaming. He's partly right. Its popular because people THINK its about gaming. SAO has more in common with Tron The Matrix, and Ghost in the Shell than it does to .Hack or Log Horizon. The gaming stuff (the first halves) hook people in, but that's just a hook. That's not what its about. Though there are clues to what the theme of the show is throughout the series, it does a piss poor job of letting people know. I didn't figure it out until half way through the second half of SAO 2. Again, it has some serious structural flaws.
Even Nybø The Nerve Gear. Its not a controller. If you think of it that way, you will die in Aincrad. The 'games' created by the seed program are not games. They're virtual worlds. Someone who 'plays' it will easily lose to someone who lives it. The clues are all over the series. They did a piss poor job of letting viewers know.
SAO was one of the first “mainstream” anime’s I watched, and I did generally enjoy it. After I watched it, I can totally understand why some people don’t like it.
Yeah there was so many Deus Ex Machina scene. But still that was what make it so appealing especially for teenager back then especially the feels from the song and scene. Nowaday it was still loved because many people hooked to anime culture because of it.
It was the first anime I fully watched, and I personally just don't like the alfheim online portion of the anime. GGO is okay, and so is the SAO portion of the anime
SAO was the anime i was first introduced to, and it definitely worked to get me interested in anime. I honestly still quite like the first arc, but it’s definitely not a favourite of mine now I’ve actually seen some good shows. If I wanted to introduce someone to anime today, I’d probably use My Hero Academia. It has all the accessibility of SAO, but is actually a really good show as well, which is always nice...
Im a fan of SAO myself, but you would have to be blind to say its flawless. Actually never heard anyone say that though. SAO is loading with obvious issues or flaws, but I just love certain aspects so much its easy to look past them at least for me.
Agree man, just because something is flawed or even terrible doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable. I love the series, but it’s story is full of so many plot holes. I don’t even think it’s the best anime, but it’s my favorite, not because it makes sense or is good. It’s because it’s entertaining to me.
@@Gojira-ko3fs Me I love op mc isekais, and I love the relationship between kirito and asuna, btw haven't seen newest season yet so if something happened between them, please don't tell me.
Peacefinder Simply, I just won’t say anything, but season 3 introduces best girl and it brings back the feeling that the characters life’s are at risk. Because they are 👍
Genuinely didn’t even watch SAO until about a month ago and now I’ve watched it all to date. It’s so cringe at times, but it’s also pretty lovable at others, but man, the power scaling was god damn awful 🤣
Now that SAO Progressive is being made you'll be able to see kirito's progress floor by floor and more character development, so hopefully the power scaling will make more sense. The original suffered from word limitations and Reki's own incompetence (due to him being less experienced and not having programmed the whole story) but now his expanding and rewriting Aincrad (and maybe later he'll rewrite Alfheim too)
I feel like the power scaling was kinda meant to be off since all the fights and abilities are virtual anyway. But the action seemed more like a side part so they didn't really focus on that anyway. The thing is I didn't really know what the main focus of the anime was cause they kept jumping around with the character's goals and the character they focused on.
I got into anime back in the late 80's early 90's sailor moon, Ronin worriers and Voltron and Robotech. I thought DBZ was a peace of shit filler anime yet it is loved by so many that grew up with it. SAO is this generation's DBZ.
Nikos150 Hmmm... let's see...hacker protagonist who wears black gains OP powers in a virtual reality world which has rules that are die in the game world means death for real and sudden disconnection also means death. Who am I talking about? Kirito or Neo?
Mike T I feel that. I'm just a major stickler for characters and I can't like sao with how plain they all are, the concept is good. Its like that matrix or the purge. Great concept, terrible execution, usually filled with plot holes
I like sao, because it was the first real anime, that I’ve watched. It got me into the anime genre. I’m well aware of it’s flaws, but in my case, it will still have a precious place in my heart.
(Im not a hater just so you know I absolutely love SAO its my favorite and no its not the only anime I watched) Ok so heres what I know people dont like it because Kirito is "too overpowered" but when is the main character or another character not OP (like are you kidding me) another reason is because Asuna was a bad ass but then became a damsel in destress (thats because her ability to have an inventory and fight was taken away, you fucking haters actually need to understand whats going on to hate it) and the final reason is because so many people "hate" the anime people get their opinions from them and not even watching it. Also little side hate people didnt like how it turned into a romance at one point (thats sort of understandable) but I mean the romance was little to none. Those are the main reasons why people hate SAO, thank you for not hating ALSO FRICK CORONA FOR DELAYING "SAO ALICIZATION WAR OF UNDEWEAR PART 2"
well, usually if you say why is sword art online bad it means you've never watched sword art online but how is sword art online would be used to defend it
Oh, shit. SAO is to this generation as DBZ was to mine. An extremely accessible gateway anime that, while flawed, built a *massive* fanbase. Fuck, it's destined to be around for the next thirty years if that's the case.
From an objective and critical viewpoint, DB was always shit. One ups and mindless shonen power ups, the original, the pioneer. Arc summary 1-12: They get scream louder, push harder, and win. I loved it. I wish now that I didn't, wish I was an edgier little boy who had better taste. Then again I seen Gundam and shit before DB and it never stuck as hard so I guess I can't help the shonen spirit in my shonen times.
ngl SAO was the first anime that I've ever watched so it's got a special place in my heart. Also I'm glad that the recent seasons like alicization and the war of the underworld are absolute bangers. Especially war of the underworld. So cool.
Yes definitely. I hope people aren’t scared away from sword art online by the haters because it’s not bad. It was also my first so it holds a place in my art too
Why SAO is popular in a nutshell: - Great animation - Great fight scenes - Self insert super op MC (hey, look, I watched this right after I watched Your Lie In April, I needed something light) - semi-funny jokes - fairly interesting plot (even though it has more holes than a paper target being shot with 12 gauge)
ok why does everyone call kirito a super op self insert wish fullfilment mc because for an op self insert, kirito gets his ass kicked, barely wins a fight, or needs help a LOT
For three good anime examples I'd recommend watching Blue Gender or Gundam Unicorn instead of Mars, Perfect Blue instead of Euphoria, Rakudai Kishi or Zero no Tsukaima instead of Asterisk.
I avoided SAO because of the “hate” it was getting, granted I don't know what they were hating exactly, but a few days back I decided to watch it and honestly, It's not even that bad as a expected, it's not a masterpiece but a decent-watchable anime. I fvcking cringed so much at the incest moments, I skipped everytime she was on-screen
How to avoid an Sao argument, love or hate Sao, respect another's opinion and be respectful about the opinion you have. Oh yeah this is the human race...
great .... We're gonna be stuck with SAO while the superior 'trapped in an MMO' anime, Log Horizon, gets to just fade away and be forgotten .... fan-fucking-tastic
Lunar Templar Log Horizon was surprisingly popular I think, I mean at least based off of the amount of people who said that they are watching it on MAL. I hope it gets another season
Lunar Templar yeah I haven't gotten far in season two yet because it's got some pacing and focus issues, but if season three were to be as good as season one, I would be ecstatic. It would be a shame if it never saw another season :(
Der Pferdehuführer Which rave scene? First movie(Thomas meets Trinity), second movie(Zion party)or third movie(Morpheus, Trinity and Seraph meeting the Merovingian)?
SAO was the first anime I ever watched and that’s probably why I still have a soft spot for it still. I just rewatched the whole thing after the alicization arc ended and I’m not gonna lie alicization had my favorite arc of the entire show. I know the show is a meme to hate on or love at this point but there’s just something about it I fuckin just love watching.
SAO was one of the few anime I recently watched and it got me into anime. Hate all you want but Alicization is by far the best arc in SAO, cant wait for the 2nd part.
I fight you anyway with every sword you want, Mother Rosario has been a fantastic arc. RIP Vilerat and all you others who have made friends online and died far to early. And actually both of the major romance "mini" arcs, have a special place in my hart as well. Meeting someone online, marrying, getting kids ... it is a long process and the series is getting decent notes of getting the essentials on that. Which is imho the thing about SOA, it gets the technology and the implications just good enough to resonate and be relevant for the audience. Not for everyone naturally, but plenty of gamers with dead friends around. It is not a uncommon experience, the social networks of online games reach far. VR and perfect VR via diving is a pipedream for most gamers, Ordinal Scale is another dream of a fully realized AR system, etc It does not need to be perfect, it just needs to resonate enough and show us interesting ways to deal with technology. Add some action and a little bit of fan service for more clicks and bam, sword art online in a nutshell. But to be honest, I am a fan of accel world as well. It is actually in many ways better ;-)
YuYu it had a decent amount of eps and its a shonen. Its almost gauramteed to be a hit. There arent many comparable anime. All anime mowadays are moe art style 12 eps slice of life bs
i think Jojo is in the perfect place right now. obscure enough that i can be the asshole that says "Jojo is better" and nobody can say anything since they havent seen it
I’m a new anime fan and SAO was one of the first ones I watched. I know it’s not perfect by any means. But I enjoy the story, I like the characters, It wasn’t too complicated, and it’s not a crazy amount of episodes that would be hard to finish or get up to date with. And also...... Asuna
SAO was actually the anime that got me into Anime. After watching a ton of anime for around 8 years now, I can easily see the flaws of SAO. However, it will still always hold a special place in my heart, and hey you gotta give it credit for having a romance THAT ACTUALLY HAS A SOLID CONCLUSION TO IT.
I had no idea SAO was so hated back when I first watched it. I was generally into it, even through to the GunGale arc. The reason I fell out of it was it lost its narrative stakes. After watching the characters literally fight for their lives in the first arcs, I couldn't get behind the "threat" to the AI characters. I liked Yui, but none of the other npcs had life enough to care about. SAO Abridged is also now a much superior product.
People act like SAO is the worst thing ever to cancel out the stupidly huge number of newbie anime watchers that said "SAO is the greatest Anime EVER!!1!"
now that they've announced SAO Progressive, I imagine this argument is about to start completely over again xD I'm pretty stoked, though, because the original Aincrad arc was EASILY the best part of SAO.
@@sentient_roomba7035 It is indeed the case with the original aincrad arc but with progressive, every volume of the novel explores one floor at a time(one volume for each floor) so there is a lot more content and character development. As for the first season being awful, it was because, there was too little to work with in the source material, thus progressive may cover the flaws which has plagued the first season for so many years
In my opinion, for the entire SAO series, this is an unpleasant anime for an E-Sports lover and part of romance is unfelt good literally! The story focus of each season is quite confusing and boring, especially part for the game system! I thought that this work had quite the potential, and could very well be updated if the use of Deus Ex Machina (Armor Plot) was avoided.
I came into anime in 2020 started with death note and AoT and stuff but for some reason loved SAO and since then whenever I get new SAO content I feel like a child again, I'm so hyped its unbelievable
It’s okay. SAO is fun! It always has been. Even for some of us who weren’t new to anime at all. The people who dislike it are really just a loud minority. There’s usually a reason a million people like a thing. It’s not unusual for popular things to pick up a loud minority of haters either.
toby su 12 episodes First 5=oh,is so boring 6 to 9=mh,it is not so amazing 10 to 12=only these 2 episodes are nice. I think that Sao's better than Aot.
toby su well I wish there was more but goddamn the fight with eren and rhino had episode 12 were fucking amazing. I would definitely put that fight in my top anime fights of all time
The reason I despise SAO is because it ruined the "isekai" (trapped in another world) genre, since the show aired, everyone thinks the genre involves having a harem and being OP as fuck, disregarding the possibilities of character development and psychological growth of the characters, for example go watch "Here and there now and then" that is how a isekai anime should be
Muhammad Nausherwan Re:Zero is...hard to judge, when compared to SAO. Personally, I think that Re:Zero was awful in terms of plot and characters, but SAO's major downfall was its just below-bland characters. Nothing made me interested in the SAO characters, not the "ordeals" that they overcome or their backstories. The plot in SAO had such great potential, but the characters...the villains...
Re:Zero definitely has a harem. Protag being OP is debatable. Not much for psychological growth (though psychological breakdown is definitely a thing). Not really any character development either, as many arcs get reset over, and Subaru is still fucking obsessed with Emilia. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy it. But I enjoy it for the suffering.
The first anime I ever watched was Naruto, and even though I loved it,in never got me into the anime universe. Three years ago I moved to the US,I couldn’t make any friends because English was not my main language(it was Spanish). I knew English, but I was way to scared to speak it. So everyday,I played online games because it was the only world I could actually be myself. I was scrolling through Netflix looking for something to watched, that’s when I saw “Sword Art Online”. I remember my sister telling me to watch it when it aired, but I said “Nah” because I wasn’t in to the anime universe. Just by watching the first 2 episodes I loved it. When I saw kirito, I felt like we had a lot in common. Kirito prefer to keep going solo instead of joining a guild, and I prefer to stay alone instead of making friends. There’s was moment when I stop seeing kirito as character, instead of seeing Kirito I saw myself(Idk if I’m making any sense T-T). So when he joined that little guild(I don’t remember the name), I told myself “I should try and do the same” . After I finish SAO I wanted to see more, and so I started to watch other anime’s and that’s when I got in to the anime universe. I am SAO fan,i and there’s many things about the show I didn’t like, but regardless of the flaws it has,SAO will always be something special for me. I not very good expressing myself,so there’s a high chance you won’t understand anything I just said ( T_T)\(^-^ )
Not sure but that's the whole point of main character of like Kirito. They tried to make relatable to the viewers and imagine themselves as Kirito which is why I think Kirito has no character. Anyway, I'm glad you found comforting from your loneliness.
Tbh Sword Art Online had a chance to become big and possibly be part of the new Big 3 everyone has been looking for IF ONLY they stayed on the Aincrad. Like instead of time skipping 2 years why not cover what happened during the time. I would have loved to see Argo and Kirito develop his Duel Wielding skill. So to put it simply, Sword Art Online ruined the great potential it had by rushing the plot. I had so much fun watching the series and I still do, I just think that it would have become bigger anime if the plot was not to rushed.
weaboochan99999999999999 weaboochan99999999999999 I know its just that I feel like it would have had showed a lot more popularity without the amount of hate it has now within the Anime Community if they stayed in the Aincrad Arc.
I've always considered SAO to be the Kingdom Hearts of anime. It's a huge mixed bag of things that are amazing and terrible, but people love it anyway.
@@platy4700 Gameplay is just one part of a what makes a game, though. You're telling me that SAO has _nothing_ good about it? Because that notion is utter BS.
@@platy4700 I reject the notion that it has nothing else redeemable about it. My original point was that SAO doesn't have any more flaws than Kingdom Hearts. Besides, there are people who actually like Sticker Star. Please don't tell me that your opinion is informed by Mother's Basement. He's not exactly a respected or credible voice in the anime community.
I just like the VRMMO genre. Seeing a VR fantasy rpg being played through anime is quite entertaining, the different classes, monsters, and general mmorpg mechanics. It is really fun, but it is a little less fun if not done properly if they are able to just log out. So, making them get stuck in the world makes it more serious and engaging at the same time. It is a really fun setup. I wish there were a great deal more of these shows, with a great deal more variety in the worlds. Seeing different fantasy worlds, different settings altogether. Particularly like the swords and magic or guns theme. Log Horizon for example is pretty awesome, you see all the elements of a mmorpg, then you see them adapting and living in this type of setting. Soo much fun, and so many possibilities.
3:50 - 3:58 That's exacly the problem, and why this series is so hated in the first place. When you create such a badass scenario and populate it with such bland and boring characters, you make at least a small portion of the audience who can't connect with these types of characters feel like they are watching someone else playing a very cool videogame but without letting them play. It makes you really want to be there, but feel like you really can't.
Mauricio_Ibieta yes and no it is because it is impossible let’s say some linked with the nerve gear in irl they would almost die instantly because your heart is a muscle and technically your brain is too they all need signals because if your brain doesn’t receive anything back it’s going to think your dead and your heart would stop because your nerves don’t work meaning it no longer has a job Let’s say your working at your job everyone has finished working and your boss dies no more job what do you do you quit working their
+LegionArmidillo OfTheFallen Since, as far as I'm aware of, they never elaborated on how this advanced technology works, it's safe to assume that they've figured out a way around that issue. Like the nerve gear only receiving some signals rather than all of them.
Indeed. Although I have doubts we will ever get one. Not only does it smell of a way to promote the LN, like so many other 14 ep anime, but the second season would encompass planned Genocide and...I just don't think that this is within the target audience , it would have to be treated like Hellsing Ultimate I guess.
I don't mind people that like the series because I have my own guilty pleasure in Fairy Tail. I just don't 't like when they exclaim its the best thing ever because while I like Fairy Tail I understand its flaws. As long as the fan in mind is being civil I see no reason to condemn people that like SAO.
ichigo-naruto-natsu9 tbh u watch something to get entertained whether u prefer complex stories with in depth personalities or you just like epic fights with down to earth characters (one punch man) it's all up to you, even though I know how shit Naruto is, I still like it cuz of how the characters really touched me in a way I don't think a series has ever done to me n all I get are death threats n insults left and right
+Cosmic Turner Yeah then all it proves is those people don't know how to be mature and haven't learned to be tolerant of other peoples opinions. On another note I also like Naruto and have watched it since I was like 5 on Cartoon Network and then Toonami. I know it isn't the best show, but it was easily one of my top three shows as a kid. I even stuck around till the ending of the manga and I was pretty satisfied by the end.
For me fairy tail is an interesting look into Hiro Mashima as an author. I find it even more interesting after reading his previous work Rave Master and while that manga also has flaws it corrects a lot of fairy tails mistakes which I find intriguing because it appears as if Mashima has regressed as an author. He said his is going to make another manga after fairy tail ends which is in 10 chapters, so I am going to read it to see if he can progress as an author or just make it worse than fairy tail.
+ReviewTechUSSR Part 1 of Reply: Well that is your opinion and while I do believe it to be a bit misinformed when talking about people who you classify as weebs because under my impression of the way you define weeb I think I would fit under said category because I have watched a little over 150 anime. I don't really care though because why should I care what some random person on the internet impression of me is, but I would like to stick up for the community a bit by saying we aren't all a bunch of waifu and quality obsessed people.
Itachi Says Hi i did find it a little off-putting how much of a bitch asuna and kirito are in the abridged version. Still a lot of fun though. I laughed out loud many times thanks to it
I learnt long time ago that all the hate anything popular gets is because them haters want to stand out, be cool and pretend they are special and more refined. If an anime is good, people like it. It's that simple.
Emotionally, in a good way? Or heartbreaking because it's disappointing that it's potential was wasted? I haven't watched it, but it's not like the GGO arc, so... I need to know if it's emotional, because if it's not anywhere near as emotional as the first Season 2 arc, I might not watch it.
It flippin destroyed me.I can't really explain what I felt during watching this arc,why I cried. It happened for the first time in my entire life.Maybe this is how something leaves a hole in your heart.Truly magnificent arc
I started watching SAO just because of the art style and I loved it immediately, even with the small things that seemed odd or like they might be a plot-hole. I thought that because it was poplular, I would hate it like a bunch of other shows I tried but I'm glad I was wrong. A few days into watching it, I found out that almost all of my closest friends watch it as well and I had no idea. It sparked so many new conversations and I'm happy to share the love and experience of it with others. I don't have many things I can share like that.
Yup, Sword Art Online was the first anime I've watched. I thought, "wow, anime is pretty cool!" So I watched Fullmetal Alchemist. I thought "OMFG WHERE HAS ANIME BEEN ALL MY LIFE THIS IS CRAFTED BY THE GODS"
I'm glad you didn't get stuck in modern anime and watched some of the good stuff. tbh, anime has seen better days in terms of quality. It's hard to find a good title among the modern ones. That's it, my next recommendation would be that you go for something like Madoka Magica or Monogatari.
It's not dead because it's popular. The people that hate it talk about it, the people that love it talk about it and both sides watch it. That's why it's not dead. Popularity isn't necessarily the amount of people that like it but the amount that know it and the amount that watch it.
Javian Brown ok lets say someone calls it shit but can remember the falts then they watched it all when I say give me 1 reason and they say some from episode 18 or a very far episode then they liked it but if they hate it they would not have watched past episodes 5 at most
12:46 When this music started and Gigguk is still talking, i feel like someone is lecturing me why I should be grateful to be alive and why we are still going even though this world throw us different kind of pains. *I want the link of the song by the way.*
> Video is literally about why the anime is popular and will probably not die despite so many people wanting it dead > Comments section is mostly just filled with people just saying they want it dead
Written before watching Video: Super freaking easy. SAO is the dream of almost every Anime Gamer Fan. Who wouldn't want 100% Immersion into a game where everything is possible? Even the least agile nerd or the most paralyzed people could enjoy total freedom of movement when they would just be able to inject their mind into a game.
Omg, you are right O.o BUT unlike SAO in dothack you still had to use the Mouse and Keyboard/Controller to play (as shown in the OVA of the game) So SAO stepped it up a notch by mind control.
Close, but missed. The reason why SAO is the dream of (almost) every anime gamer fan is because, as Gigguk said, who wouldn't want to be an unstoppable, badass alpha male who gets all the girls without even trying? Who wouldn't like that to be possible with just your gaming skills? That's why SAO is the ultimate power fantasy for otaku.
The series had a plot? honestly it has some of the worst writing I've seen in a long time that gets overlooked by many because of people going "OOOOH PRETTY ANIMATION!!!"
I saw it one the first holiday after it came out in cinemas. And, like the rest of the series, it's ridiculous. But, even though it's ridiculous, IT'S JUST FUN.
SAO is my second favorite anime, and i would be lying if i said it was perfect in every way, but the only real problems i have with it how kirito's sister likes him, and i just didnt like that part in general, but otherwise i love the anime.
+Matthew Cool Don't feel bad for what you enjoy. I for one, like SAO, unironically. I never consider it the _best_ thing ever, nor is it the worst. It's a fairly entertaining anime. So, I understand your sentiment.
Main topic aside, I just noticed that the music from the ending sounds familiar, then I remembered it's from Evangelion. Love how you used it, fits perfectly with the scenes thus, effectively bring the emotions. ❤️💯
The best way to avoid an SAO argument if you are a fan Is to not tell people that you like it. I'm not saying to be ashamed of being a fan but just keep it to yourself that's what I do and it works.
Vortex Music What an obnoxiously stupid thing to say, comparing an innocent habit to racism, it's pathetic that some people have to hate something so much even though it doesn't impact them in the slightest.
Nyoxiz bruh are u stupid? he said "defend ur opinion" thats the most stupid thing ever, becuase if u follow this philosophy u have u MUST also say to racist people defend your opinion please dont start argueing if u have the IQ of a worm, go argueing with 12 year old little shits bro i can argue a whole month if you realy think u can do it so dont even start if you cant handle it fckin idiots i swear
That’s like saying Tokyo ghoul season 3 is really good, especially after they killed off the whole cast and the MC joining the government trying to kill him
@@MustacheDLuffy dude, I meant by SAO standards. So going off that at it's really good or at least improved. I might just be saying this because SAOwas what got me into anime, but it has improv3d
I meant by SAO standards as well. I’ve had the exact same talk about GGO Alternative when someone else called it good by SAO standards. I feel like you might be considering it based on context but it really leaves way much to be desired for. Having Kirito live in artificial world and act like a role player and leave out any of the previous characters for clueless nincompoops who can’t understand that rape is bad solely because the Taboo index doesn’t allow it is a noninteresting, tiring, and tedious show.
I like SAO, Thats my opinon However I do get why people dont like it and that is alright no anime is perfect (Except Boku No Pico). The reason I like SAO Is because of the Art style, Sword, sense of humour, Powers, and the love between Kirito and his sister... wait shit I mean uh ASUNA yeah thats what I meant. No one will probably see this comment
This is literally the best anime channel on YT. I found you through your video on Summer Wars and agreed 100% with what you said about it. Since then I've tended to agree with you on just about everything you say. Keep up the good work man!=
As a subscriber who doesn't comment a lot. I just want to say in all honesty gigguk you are an amazing UA-camr and creator in general. Within my personal tastes I've loved all of your videos from SHIT talking something to really speaking heart to heart. Keep it going.
I will admit I enjoyed the first half of the first season, but the rest was... well... Let's just say I lost interest later on... Then got interested by Gun Gale Online again, and lost interest after...
yes a lot of people agree the first half of the season is great and engaging but then they went all fairytale n creepyass incest stuff not a bad show but yeah
some people hate how Kirito was "Overpowered" but then don't say anything about, Goku, Naruto, One Piece, and all of the other main characters that are obviously too "Overpowered" to die. But idc about the hate, people can hate/love their own Anime. But don't bash on people for what they enjoy.
I can't speak for DBZ or OP but I can definitely say that Naruto worked over a long period of time to be 'overpowered.' Kirito started off that way. Naruto got his ass handed to him many times and solved problems when he wasn't strong enough with clever tactics during the first good half of the series (not including the few times the fox demon came out), while Kirito stands/charges and acts like he's in danger when, as a viewer, you know he's not. There isn't any substance.
GrimGracious Technically Kirito did work hard as he practically lived through games on top of being a beta tester so he was familiar with how the game works. Then let us not forget the time jumps in SAO he had like two years to train in there.
He definitely worked for it but he started the series with a clear advantage- it's not the same as having multiple seasons to watch Naruto grow. In SAO we have to accept he got better - we don't actually see it in anything other than watching him beat down everyone he meets - which gets pretty boring. It's honestly more akin to watching Sasuke than Naruto's journey. Tbh It wasn't a big deal for me when I watched the series until he pulled off that BS 'hacking' thing to save his virtual 'daughter.' That's when I was like...the fuck.
But if he didn't work in the anime itself is basically the same as if he didn't cause for the viewer is nothing to relate to, the guy is already a top A player. There's a reason why celebs always talk about their childhood or struggles, people support who connects with them in some level.
SAO is that kind of anime which you can't hate or love fully The concept of having that realistic VR is keeping SAO in our back of mind and not letting it hate

But if there someone who's been in the community for a long time and somehow never watched it up until now, then I get why they wouldn't like it so much.

decent vn, absolutely horrible anime
Again, it has some serious structural flaws.
can you tell the great reason for why kirito lost?
Even Nybø
The Nerve Gear.
It's not written well.

My introduction to anime was Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Kind of surprised it isn't talked about more.

Now that SAO Progressive is being made you'll be able to see kirito's progress floor by floor and more character development, so hopefully the power scaling will make more sense.

@@manuelredgrave8348God I hope so the fairy arc was disgrace it's existence alone was a writing error
I feel like the power scaling was kinda meant to be off since all the fights and abilities are virtual anyway. But the action seemed more like a side part so they didn't really focus on that anyway. Ok so heres what I know people dont like it because Kirito is "too overpowered" but when is the main character or another character not OP (like are you kidding me) another reason is because Asuna was a bad ass but then became a damsel in destress (thats because her ability to have an inventory and fight was taken away, you fucking haters actually need to understand whats going on to hate it) and the final reason is because so many people "hate" the anime people get their opinions from them and not even watching it.

SAO was the first anime I ever watched and that’s probably why I still have a soft spot for it still.
VR and perfect VR via diving is a pipedream for most gamers, Ordinal Scale is another dream of a fully realized AR system, etc
It does not need to be perfect, it just needs to resonate enough and show us interesting ways to deal with technology. Add some action and a little bit of fan service for more clicks and bam, sword art online in a nutshell. But to be honest, I am a fan of accel world as well. It is actually in many ways better ;-)

I not very good expressing myself,so there’s a high chance you won’t understand anything I just said

EthanSoulz it techically is in the new big 3 along with attack on titan

TricksyKitsune What was your opinion on The Matrix? Aside from the RPG stuff, that's literally what .Hack, SAO and others like it was/is.

When you create such a badass scenario and populate it with such bland and boring characters, you make at least a small portion of the audience who can't connect with these types of characters feel like they are watching someone else playing a very cool videogame but without letting them play.
It makes you really want to be there, but feel like you really can't.

I really want to hear your Opinion on Overlord sometime~
Season 2 where art thou ;_;
Indeed. Although I have doubts we will ever get one. Not only does it smell of a way to promote the LN, like so many other 14 ep anime, but the second season would encompass planned Genocide and...I just don't think that this is within the target audience , it would have to be treated like Hellsing Ultimate I guess.
A masterpiece
Overlord had a flaw in my view. Making an OP protagonist interesting. But it was done right later in the next year by One Punch Man.
Sasuga
Yeah I'm up to date on it. When you think Mashima can't make it worse he always finds a way. That is the message I got from the latest chapter.

I learnt long time ago that all the hate anything popular gets is because them haters want to stand out, be cool and pretend they are special and more refined. If an anime is good, people like it. It's that simple.
No. People have their reasons to hate.
the mothers rosario arc is just heartbreaking ...

The rest was good but, not even close to the first half of the seasons the were apaet of. I mean, I barely remember them but I didn't hate them.
exactly
some people hate how Kirito was "Overpowered" but then don't say anything about, Goku, Naruto, One Piece, and all of the other main characters that are obviously too "Overpowered" to die.
GrimGracious I didn't say it was the same as Naruto, just that he certainly worked for it.
But if he didn't work in the anime itself is basically the same as if he didn't cause for the viewer is nothing to relate to, the guy is already a top A player. There's a reason why celebs always talk about their childhood or struggles, people support who connects with them in some level.
SAO is that kind of anime which you can't hate or love fully
The concept of having that realistic VR is keeping SAO in our back of mind and not letting it hate
