Winching Up a Wall on Axle Alley Florence Junction Arizona with the Nitto Jeep Dirt Experience JKX

- Our 3rd Day on the Nitto Dirt Experience presented by KMC Wheels would lead us out of New Mexico and take us into Arizona. After buying firewood and other well needed supplies, we made our way out to and area known as Florence Junction, one of our favorite places to wheel in the state! After setting up camp, Mel took us out on an easy sunset run to explore some of the canyons and mines in the area but of course, what we ended up doing was taking on the crazy big rocks and ledges out on trails like Axle Alley. For those of you who've never wheeled out there, your winch is your friend and I think it's safe to say that everyone put theirs to the test. Fortunately, everyone had a WARN! We hope you enjoy watching the awesome adventure we had that went well into the night.
On a side note, I have to say that waking up at the crack of dawn at a Holiday Inn Express with a group of good friends ready to wheel is about the most normal I've felt in a very long time!
For the first time in almost 20 years, Cindy and I did not get to spend the first week of November in Las Vegas, Nevada, like we always do and to cover all the cool new parts, accessories, wheels and tires being made for the Jeep JL Wrangler and JT Gladiator. I am of course talking about the world famous SEMA Show and just like everything else in this crazy dumpster fire of a year, the show got cancelled. Fortunately, not all was lost and all thanks to Nitto as they decided to hold their 10th Annual JK-Experience on that week instead. And, as luck would have it, we were invited to join in on the fun! Presented by KMC Wheels, this awesome adventure would start in Las Cruces, New Mexico and take us all the way to Barstow, California almost 800 miles to the west and loosely following the original route of the very first JK-Experience.

Harris “ there’s only so much I can do with these ball trimmers “ I about lost my stuff 🤣. There is never a dull moment with the Nitto experience I have to say though your wife is an absolute beast she drives with skill and has no fear and I love it.
LOL - always a good time with good friends and yes Cindy has nerves of steel. 😎
That wall had me puckered on the couch! Cindy nailed it!
LOL - that was was the real deal. Super tall and straight up. Pretty scary when the line broke and Moby dropped 🤣
Awesome trip. I was lucky to get to be there.
What I could never do on 35”s... Cindy was epic!
''Nothing to crazy today" proceeds to climb up literal wall, gotta love the adventure
LOL - that's what we were told. 🤣
Cindy+Moby=Legendary. She’s such a joy to watch. Loving this series. 🍻
Thanks my friend. Glad you're having fun with this series 😎
Eddie you never fail on the awe factor!! Cindy did awesome!!!!
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed it 😎
OMG!! I have suffered as if I was there watching you climb that wall. 10 out of 10 Cindy. The end of the video with the hair cut ,simply great and hilarious. Thank you Cindy and Eddie once again for sharing these adventures. Awesome.
LOL - We're so happy to know that we were able to capture what it was like out there and enough for you to fee as if you were there with us. 😎
Stopped watching cuz I was jealous and I don't think I'd ever be able to offroad with your gang... just got back into watching your posts and man you don't disappoint. I have a lot to catch up on, love your vids, love your rigs, hope to wheel with you someday.
LOL - be awesome if you could join us on a run someday :)
Those walls were tall! Finally found an obstacle that Moby needed a little help with. I really enjoyed watching!
LOL - yeah, this isn't even the first time Moby has taken on that wall. Was really hoping we could have made it up without a winch this time around. It really is crazy steep and tall 🤣
Glad you enjoyed the video 😎
Just a group of great people with badass Jeeps having an awesome time!
Oh yeah 👍🏻
Dang! That winch cord snapping freaked me out! I am glad shiny side stayed up!
LOL - it was intense for sure 😜
Have to learn how to tie proper knots when working with rope. Also depending how far the anchor was maybe should have used a snatch block to decrease the load on the rope.
@@lewy1 LOL - first off, I wasn't the one tying the knots and second, if you pay attention to the video, the breaks were NOT occurring at the knots. Also, if the anchor were closer and we had enough line, we WOULD HAVE used a snatch block. But thanks, we appreciate your internet expertise. 👍
@@wayalife I did say depending on where the anchor was. Yes the rope did not break at the knot, but a proper knot will untie after loading, knot tying is a good skill to have when working with rope.
@@lewy1 LOL - but you assumed we needed to be told as much. It's all good, everyone needs an internet expert in their life to chime in with their vast knowledge 👍
What an epic run! Legit !!
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed watching it 😎
@@wayalife heck yeah man, you and the lady killed it! You’ll have to check out the upper / lower terminator next time you’re in AZ!
Hope to sooner than later 👍
Ok, its official, best jeep channel on the net!
Wow, we're truly flattered that you would say as much. Thank you 😊
Florence Junction is 60mi. north of where I grew up. (Catalina Az) Glad to see you all having fun in my old stomping grounds. And getting back to normal. 👍🏻
Eddie, your videos have been a window into "free America" for me stuck here in mask/lockdown hell in Massachusetts. Thanks for the normalcy!!
Awesome to hear and glad we could share this with you 👍
Massachusetts is on another planet ... I stopped in Salem (wife’s request) on my way home from Acadia and talk about hell on earth. They had mask monitors walking around outside threatening people with fines ... while walking outside
@@greygoose4x46 Yes sir, what else would you expect from a city that makes millions every October off the slaughter of innocent women 300 years ago because they had a different opinion.
That almost 90-degree wall section got my hands sweating, but Cindy killed it. Also, thank you for all the great coverage on the JKX.
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed watching our video. Also, it was 90° on the left and maybe 70° on the right LOL
🔥💪🏼🤠BAD@$$🔥 Great production as always!💯
Thank you. We're so glad to hear you enjoyed our video 😎
The end was the best!
LOL - always good times around the campfire 😁
That was a crazy wall. As always. Great video!
LOL - it really was. Glad you enjoyed the video 😎
Great video as always! 👍👍👍
Thank you. We're happy to hear you enjoyed it 😎
Riding on walls. I'm loving it!
That's some gnarly stuff!!!
The trails out there, are 😎
I’m Chiming in before the end of the Video... That Wall was Nuts! ... And was nice to have Harris there to pull the Jeeps over when Stuck ! 👍🤪
HAHAHA - hope you enjoy it.
2021 JL 2Dr Rubi finally delivered after 12 week wait. Occupied that time watching Moby evolution from the Day One delivery to this Axle Alley installment. HardRock4x4 front bumper, Warn winch & Nitto’s installed. Brown Santa delivers LOD sliders on Wed and lift on the plate. Although it’s in our backyard, seriously doubt Casper (or his owner) will ever be up for that wall - amazing job Cindy! Here’s to “Peace” and Freedom. Thanks to Eddie, Cindy, Nitto, KMC and especially Arizona for reminding us what it looks like.
Eddie - any recommendations on a small lift that won’t void the Jeep warranty? Considered MOPAR but it seems to have other issues...
Simply awesome 👍
awesome videos!!! I look forward to JKX videos from you guys every year.
That's awesome and we're so glad to hear it! 😎
Loved every second of it! Thank you for sharing!
Awesome! We're so glad to hear it 😎
Have a great time thanks
Yeah Cindy is definitely a badass for sure! 👊
LOL - Cindy says thank you 😊
Wow, that Moby is a beast👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thank you. We love our Moby 😎

Love the crawling. Keep up the good work.
Glad you enjoyed watching it and thank you :)
Wow excellent job on the first climb not dussing the rest of the climbs but that took alot of (sorry the language) balls lmao sweet 😂
Glad you enjoyed the video.
Siete dei grandi..vi stimo troppo:)numeri uno😄❤
Always so awesome!!!
So glad to hear you liked it 😎
That wall low key gave me anxiety...great cideo
LOL - glad to hear we were able to capture it for what it was worth. 😎
That ending though!!! Seem like my kinda people!
LOL - awesome. 👍
Doing the under the Jeep lighting upgrade payed off so far on this trip. Everyone else is going to upgrade like you next year.
LOL - let's just say, I had a feeling we'd need it 😁
@@wayalife Man it looked awesome!

Whew, that was intense just watching. Love the content!
LOL - that's awesome! So glad we were able to capture the moment and that you enjoyed seeing it. 😎
That was an epic day! All the usual suspects didn’t disappoint, Cindy nailed pucker wall & Dave gets bonus points for trying (I thought he had it). Looking forward to the next instalment.
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed watching this 😎
Really awesome adventure
Thank you. We're so happy to hear you enjoyed watching it 😎
Good ole box canyon!! Home away from home.
Now you're wheeling in my back yard. Enjoy !!
Love it out there!
Next you'll have to do "Highway to Hell" located in the same area.
That was the Hardest trail I have watched ... congratulations to all jeepers
Thank you. So glad you had fun watching it 👍
If you liked it check out Moby doing Carnage Canyon. Similar legendary
@@harrisaxer2651 Oh yeah, that was epic too especially being that she did that with a manual transmission at the time :)
That is awesome! Great video guys.
Thanks so much! Happy to hear you enjoyed it 😎
That was super sketchy! I can’t imagine trying to tackle something like this. I’m glad you guy’s are alright 😮
LOL - it's the real deal for sure and thanks 😊
Time for a new dyneema rope Cindy!!! Awesome as always!
LOL - to be fair, that rope has been on Moby for 13 years. We're truly surprised that it lasted as long as it had and for all the hell we've put it through. 😎
Eddie, Cindy, (and Mel): It was so cool running into y’all on Sleeping Princess! We did Hell’s Half-mile afterwards as well.
Awesome! It was a real pleasure meeting you and hope we can hit a run together in the future 👍
mall crawler is out of the question ill say that! holy crapp
LOL
@@wayalife do y'all run knurled ball joints? My dana 30 just let me hand slide in a new ball joint lol, its time for bigger ones!
@@tylermorris9196 If you've replaced your ball joints a few times, knurled ones may be needed for sure.
@@wayalife just bought the terflex ones! 318k on the axel haha
Wow awesome jeeps are amazing good thing cable was synthetic an not steel I’ve been hit in the leg by metal cable snapping wasn’t fun lol,,awesome job Cindy cool stuff Eddie as always be safe 👍👍
Oh yeah, synthetic rope is all we run and have been running for quite some time now and just for that reason. Well, and the fact that it's light weight, floats on water and won't send splinters in your hand LOL
Killer video!
Thank you. We're glad you liked it 😎
That was a crazy wall to climb. Nice way to end the day with a little Canadian whiskey thats made in the US lol. They have many flavours with one being honey as well. I keep wanting to try American honey, But haven’t seen it in the few places I looked here in Canada. Might have to look a little harder.
LOL - Glad you enjoyed the video and if you can find it, American Honey is still a nice Wild Turkey flavor.
Love Cindy spinning them on that wall!
LOL - glad you enjoyed seeing it 😎
Think you all need to come to Table Mesa in North Phoenix.
Thanks for fast response
Thanks for the honesty
If you come across one in the 4x4 community im ready to buy
Thank you
Awesome video as always guys!! Which tailgate table is that on your JK???
Glad you enjoyed the video. The tray table is EVO
You guys can go up anything!! You all have such a good time. Where is Ripley, it would have been a little rough for her. Thanks for the video
LOL - it takes effort but we do try :) Also, Ripley was with our son. Would have been way too hard on her to join us on a go go go trip like this.
What sliders are those ok the synergy Jeep?! Wow!
I believe those are custom ones that they made for themselves.
@@wayalife damn, I was ready to buy!
I thought the bumper was coming off right before the rope broke. You guys are nuts. It’s fun to watch though!
LOL! Glad you had fun watching our video :)
Next video, Climbing over the great wall of china. Great video, had me gasp a few times.
LOL - too funny. So glad to hear we were able to capture the moment 😎
Another great vid, I hope next year I can maybe join y'all if theres another jkx, love the ls too I find it hilarious people drool over hemis in a jeep and have no sense that 2 elephants in the front of your jeep isn't logical for rock crawling rigs, sure their great and soung great for jeeps parked at the mall but ls are LIGHTER easier to fix and parts available everywhere, weight to power ratio makes me 😃
Couldn't agree more. Glad you enjoyed the video 😎
Awesome
Thank you my friend. It's been too long.
@@wayalife couldn’t agree more. I missed this one because of the border closers 🤬. Say hi to Cindy.
@@chrislarsen1033 well that just sucks. Really wish you could have joined us for this one. Cindy says hi.
I saw myself!😁
LOL - now that was a fun trip! Hope to get out there with you again sometime soon.
I wish I had a jeep sponsor 😔your guys rigs are so rad .excuse the language but so f***** sick !!!
LOL - a lot of the rigs you see are manufacturer rigs and they use events like this to test out products 😎
ok so why not do a jam knot on the winch rope, 2 knots that pull against each other but i guess if the rope is weak and breaking that may not work either . but hey it is something to consider.
Yes, that would have been the knot to use. I think the second guy you see tying the knot was trying to do that but as you could see, the line was breaking anyway.
I'm new to Jeep'n. Just bought a JL last week. Love your channel. Have been binge watching all your videos. Love your work and information you share.. Can't find any other method to reach you. What muffler did you use on the (Jet) JL. Cant find the details anywhere. Thanks for your help.
No muffler but I installed this ua-cam.com/video/YPWUCExCR5Y/v-deo.html
@@wayalife Excellent, Yes I watched that one as well. In the video you were not sure if you liked it, so I did not know if you stayed with it. TY. BTW, I want to join your WAYALIFE Jeep Forum and their is a membership question (What is a unique feature of the Jeep Wrangler windshield?). I am a newb and unfortunately aside that its movable, I have no clue. Help Lol
LOL - try it again and you will get a different question. Also, make sure to sign up on your computer or the full site as it doesn't work quite right through the app.
@@wayalife Ha, your awesome.. Thanks for the support. I look forward to your next video. If your ever in Dallas, I'm buying.
You were in the land of my people, Globe/Superior Arizona! You were probably surrounded by many of my cousins and assorted other relatives. Not to worry, I haven't seen them in many, many years. lol
No kidding? That's very cool 😎
@@wayalife Yup, my Grandfather (with new bride) was a mining engineer near Bisbee after WWI and in the early 1920's. They then moved to northern Arizona where my Mom was born. My uncle Sam moved to Globe as a young man to work in a mine there. He and his sons worked at the mines in Globe and Superior.
@@mariodesmo very cool 👍🏻
I wish I still lived in Carson!!! Would love to wheel and hang out with yall!!
Sorry to hear you had to leave the area.
Wow! Incredible ride. Welcome to AZ.
I am still waiting to find out what the glitches were in you Motech LT1.
LOL - glad you enjoyed our video and you'll have to wait for the next episode.
New to the channel
Watched one of your old videos with the evo roll cage on rubicat
Are they still available for the jk
Thats one I decided on
Unfortunately, they do not sell it anymore due to how much it costs to make and sell. This may change but for now, no go.
part time jeep, part time rock bouncer coming from that synergy jeep
LOL - you can always count on Synergy to give a good show 👍
@@wayalife hows that evo set up for the jk? Been wanting a new lift to go with my one tons and 40s, not sure what to go with though
@@ma5tacooki385 We're currently running the EVO DTD and long arms and personally, I think it's about as good as it gets in terms of suspension. Been running it for almost 10 years now.
Second comment. Nailed it! Haha love your ride and keep up the good content.
Thanks! We'll try our best :)
Del taco French fries are the best !!!
LOL
Great video! That trail is insane!! Are you ever tempted to go back to traditional cable? I've had 3 synthetic line failures in 5 years. They were all in good physical condition and all from reputable brands. I used to run a lot of steel cable that I kept oiled and maintained. I never had a failure. I am seriously thinking of switching back steel.
No. There is no way I would go back to steel rope and breaks like what you see in this video is just one of the reasons. I should note that the line you see break in this video was 13 years old and used heavily during that time. If you're breaking as many lines as you are, I would recommend that you switch up to a thicker diameter rope even if it means less length or start using a snatch block more.
There was a time when putting 35s on a jeep was crazy. Today 40s are standard. Tomorrow Put on some 50s and you won’t need to winch up that wall!! Lol
LOL - I dunno about that. For me personally, I kinda feel like we've gotten to a point on a Jeep where big enough is. From what I have seen, going bigger than 40 is just a bit too much and not always a benefit. More time than not, it's a hinderance.
@wayalife great video Eddie 🤙🏻
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it 😎
Wayalife video "posted 1 hour ago" YES!! Insane wall climbing! Great work!
Do you happen to know what front bumper the PSC JK has? 19:50 in the video.
I believe it's made by Tribe 4x4
He should name his channel “The Silver Fox Toupee”.
HAHAHA 🤣
Do you have any advice for first time overland build? Budget friendly build? Can you make a video? Thank you
I suppose that would depend on how much is "budget friendly" and how big of a tire you're wanting to run.
So want to do this!!!!
I would highly recommend it :)
Out of curiosity, what powertrain and axles does the PSC JK have in it?
Thanks
Mike
HEMI and Currie 60's
Hood to see ya Ed!
Thanks!
How do you like the Gen V and the 8speed ?
@@CD-oe7gb we actually have a 10 speed transmission and we love it 😎
Sweet I think we are going to have to talk to Robbie and see what he can do for us ...would really love to go to a single ECM
@@CD-oe7gb The single module system is awesome for sure! Please tell Robbie I said hi! :)
Hey Eddie did ya ever figure out why Moby was shitting off ? And were ya able to fix the issue ?
It'll be in the next video. :)
👍👍👍👍
@wayalife I do the same thing with the cart 😂
LOL
Super 😂👋👍
Glad you enjoyed it 😎
great channel gorgeous videos gorgeous cars 👍
Is your JL the 3.6 or 2.0 or HEMI?
We didn't bring our JL on this trip but our JL has a 3.6L
I'll never do this to my jeep.
LOL - there's no shame in that. It was a tough trail and one that can break a lot of stuff.
baby
The ledge kinda reminds me of Backdoor at king of hammers
@ 5:37 Ta ta ta town town town Ta ta ta ta town.(Repeat) I just had a feel that the tow line is worn out and may snap when Mel reeled it out the first time
Yep, the line was over 13 years old and we're genuinely surprised that it's held up as long as it has especially after all the use and abuse we've put it through.
So this is the first time you felt normal in a while. Just to let you know, Jeep people are the only normal people. Did you think of using a pully and getting a 2:1 ratio advantage on that wall? I mean when your cable broke and then broke again, I died. I'm surprised you couldn't hear me screaming this suggestion. Anyway, you made it.
LOL - I was referring to the fact that everything has been locked down and just about every event had been cancelled this year. It was nice to be doing what we always do or would do in a normal year. Regarding the winch, you probably can't see it in the video but being that we were the first one up, the only winch point to work off of was too far away to use a pully. Hell, it was in the wrong position too and that's what made it so hard to get up. After we got up, we positioned each subsequent Jeep closer and in a much better location for effective pulling.
do they all have LS OR LT engines ?
Nope, a few had HEMI's and the rest had 3.6L
What was the smallest tire on this trail?
Honestly, 37's is the smallest I would recommend.
Some High end price rigs right there. Thought they would do way better on those trails
LOL - I went to your channel to see how it's done but alas, I couldn't find a single video.
Think a 2 door JK could have made it?
Breakover angles are better but the height of the wall make it near impossible to even start or at least, safely. I should note, there was one 2-door in our group, we unfortunately weren't able to film it being that we had to pull forward.
392 in your future? Warranty hard to pass by, haha.
LOL - Man, I would so love to have one. We'll see 😜
@@wayalife can't wait to see the videos already when I return from deployment. 😂😂
me: is there a go around?... no, for the whole trail
LOL
