At 19:25 time, it blew me away to see the Grey Nitto /EVO Jeep I purchased this year 2021! Wow so cool to see the history, to whoever sold it, thank you and it has a nice new home! I complimented by adding to the awesome build with new EVO PRO long arms, Falcon 3.3, Nemesis front inner fender liners, EVO Swing out carrier/ EVO corner armor, ARB Twin Air, and Clayton Skid plates. Great additions to this special Jeep! NICE start to a day! It's been back to Moab BTW and so much fun! Headed back to Moab in MAY 2022! Would love to add a pic! Wish we could do the Rubicon trail to one day!

Love watching your videos!!!! Watching Moby scale that rock face at 29:20 was impressive. I am sure it had a little to do with the driver too :). The Rubicon is a bucket list trail but my XJ will have to be trailered coming from Dallas, TX area.
The wife and i drove our jeep thru the sirreas just one time, and we had to move here. We just can't get enough of the area. Cant wait to run into you guys on the trails some day.
Memories when I was younger with my brother in law in his 53 Willy’s stock height 15” tires no lockers going thru there see some of it has changed a little,absolutely love it there remember when him an frank thru me in the lake early am in my sleeping bag 😂😂😂😂😂 thanks for taking us along cool stuff as always be safe 👍👍

Mel is always the one under a vehicle to get going or off the trail. To see him with one of his own broken and thinking in overdrive how to keep going....you can see the releaf when he heard about that part....Talk about scoring it big time in Mel's gold book...LOL You with the tools and the right parts just kept the whole group going. Sad it's the last JKX but then it's the new JLX and soon to be JTX.
LOL - this is true. The big white Jeep you see on the title screen was a manual before we swapped in a V8. Fortunately, my wife and I grew up wheeling manuals but it's still a challenge, especially when you're trying not to burn out the clutch.
I did not think you could top some of the older videos. Such as Keeping it tight and some of the others. This is number one in my book. Plus Moby makes it look super easy. I may be a little bias tho. Cindy made that look easy.

Best Rubicon video I have seen. I am always amazed there aren't more breakdowns given those steel on rock sounds. What was the tire size on most of those vehicles, 37 or 40?

At 16:27 the red jeep had a ticking noise and you called out it a manual. Is this a normal for the 6 speeds? Just wondering because my JK makes the same noise.
I know one of the guys on this trip! His name is Colton and he is a good friend of mine! He has the grey JK with the huge axles and white stickers on the side!

The trail is different every year so you're never really running the same trail each time you do it. Also, we always make it into a camping trip and for that, it's always a good time :)

LOL no those guys have 37-40 only. I'm still interested in "the math" on some of the air downs. I almost feel like the surface area of a 40inch at 8psi may still not be much more than a 35 inch at 8psi due to the resistance and thickness of the rubber side wall. (I say stupid stuff to get a reply sometimes, but I am really analytical as "ffffu------")
@@richgran The extra carrying capacity and the benefits of a longer wheel base is why so many people prefer 4-doors. Not like 2-doors are excluded from an event like this, nobody with one ever applies.
Copy that, I've got a 2 door rubi with 35s and a 3.5" lift. Been working on setting it up for overland. But, because of the decreased storage capacity of the two door I've been working on a small trailer. It seems that most people go with out the trailer and decide on a 4 door. But with the rooftop tent, doesn't that add a lot of extra weight topside and give you a high center of gravity?
@@JoseOrtiz_1416 And comfort on the wheel base. Big difference. I used to own a 2 door 2006 TJ Rubicon and upgraded to a 4 door JKU. The 4 door is so much smoother. The gladiator is even smoother than that!
@roger ballard Built up with coilovers, a 4-door will walk all over a 2-door. You just have to take different lines - BIGGER lines. And, so that it isn't missed, I LOVE 2-doors, have owned both a 2-door JK and a TJ and still own a CJ. The 4-door is still better.
My bucket list is Rubicon Trail. I am planning to buy JL Rubicon unlimited this month. Is there a must do modification to run the Rubicon Trail on stock JL Rubicon before I head up there? Thanks! oh and as always great video!

Actually, Moby isn't a manual anymore. We changed the transmission to a 6L80 when we did the LS swap. But yes, she is a great driver. :)

Driving manual is an entirely different ball game! I’m still adjusting to mine but slowly getting the hang of it. One day I’ll conquer the rubicon

Yeah that's normal. That even happened on my TJ Rubi. Something to do with the pressure plate and torque transfer to the differential(s)

When you running low tire PSI and going over the rocks, you sidewall failures or is that pretty rare? Great video and camera work, thanks for posting.

I almost feel like the surface area of a 40inch at 8psi may still not be much more than a 35 inch at 8psi due to the resistance and thickness of the rubber side wall. (I say stupid stuff to get a reply sometimes, but I am really analytical as "ffffu------")
37" is a minimum requirement or at least, for 4-doors.
Besides the extra carrying capacity and Wheelbase of the 4 door, why dont i see two doors?
@@richgran The extra carrying capacity and the benefits of a longer wheel base is why so many people prefer 4-doors. Not like 2-doors are excluded from an event like this, nobody with one ever applies.
Copy that, I've got a 2 door rubi with 35s and a 3.5" lift. Been working on setting it up for overland. But, because of the decreased storage capacity of the two door I've been working on a small trailer. It seems that most people go with out the trailer and decide on a 4 door. But with the rooftop tent, doesn't that add a lot of extra weight topside and give you a high center of gravity?
Is there an advantage to having a 4 door over a 2 door when it comes to the Rubicon Trail?
I would believe 2 door will give you better approach and departure angles. 4 door is just nice for the extra room and the look
@@JoseOrtiz_1416 And comfort on the wheel base. Big difference. I used to own a 2 door 2006 TJ Rubicon and upgraded to a 4 door JKU. The 4 door is so much smoother. The gladiator is even smoother than that!

@roger ballard Built up with coilovers, a 4-door will walk all over a 2-door. You just have to take different lines - BIGGER lines. And, so that it isn't missed, I LOVE 2-doors, have owned both a 2-door JK and a TJ and still own a CJ. The 4-door is still better.

My bucket list is Rubicon Trail. I am planning to buy JL Rubicon unlimited this month. Is there a must do modification to run the Rubicon Trail on stock JL Rubicon before I head up there? Thanks! oh and as always great video!
Stock? You can run it as is but I would highly recommend you do it with others and come equipped with a tow strap.
