Walked into my local shop on Saturday saw the ocean blue 335 and knew I had to have it. I asked the guy to buy it and he said I’d have to wait till Monday cause it actually comes out in Monday. So I immediately went home and figured out which guitars of mine I want to trade in. Gave up a couple of my Jackson’s I never play and a deangelico. The figuring in the ocean blue is some of the best I had ever seen on any guitar. Then the blue itself is so rich and beautiful and I’d never seen a 335 like it I just knew I needed it. So I went in on Monday traded in those guitars and paid the difference of about 900 and honestly it was so worth it. mean I literally fell in love with the guitar instantly upon just seeing it. And then when I played it it felt so good. Whoever set it up at my local shop did an amazing job and obviously whoever built it did great too haha. But man haven’t felt that way about a guitar in probably ten years since my dad gave me his cbs era strat. I have been playing this 335 since yesterday and I have to say it’s the best instrument purchase I’ve made in years. Yes I know this comment is a total glaze fest lol but I love the axe it’s very unique and I’m proud to own it.
This is such a wholesome comment 🤗 I saw a gorgeous a purple one in their website, as well as that blood moon option 😍 that I almost feel that way for .... But I haven't seen any left handed oriented
Epiphone did make a cherry burst LP Custom with a flame top back in the late 2000s! As someone who started playing guitar at that time period it's so much nostalgia to me :)
My 2021 Sweetwater purchase Les Paul looks so much better in person than in their online photos. That was lucky for me , cause if the photo was better, somebody woulda beat me to buying it. I bet these Gibsons are super gorgeous in person.
I like that these colors are available, but I primarily enjoy the Old School Vintage colors personally. Gold top, Hunny Amber, 'Cherry Cola', and Deep Ocean are nice.
I love your Channel Austin every time a new video pops up I get excited your channel is the best and I will keep watching it thank you for your content and your educational advice and your intuitive knowledge thank you again good luck in your future endeavors your friend Jimmy
The regular (non-IBGC) Epiphone LP Customs now have “Probucker Custom” pickups, which are apparently based on Custombuckers. I’d love to hear how they sound. People complain about regular Probuckers being muddy and I’d be curious to hear if they sound better. Also, Epiphone has released cherry sunburst LP Customs in the past - as recent as the 2000s actually (possibly 2010s). It’s nice to see that they brought them back.
I'm pretty sure the finishes are all pretty close to one another as far as lightness and darkness. Sweetwater's lighting changes from guitar to guitar. You can't always judge from the brightness in the background. It's how much light is hitting the guitar.
Peter Frampton has a ‘69 335 he shared during his episode of Gibson’s “The Collection”. And that’s the color it had faded to - “watermelon is my favorite shade of cherry” was the quip. Would not be surprised if that wasn’t the inspiration for the newbie
I have been dying to pull the trigger on one of this ES 335, that GOLD TOP is killing me, perfect timing. My first es335 on a gold top!!! gotta have it
I love that Cobra Burst finish, I've been waiting for a Les Paul with a brown to black burst, the only thing I'm worried about is that I've seen on some guitars that the colour comes up more grey than brown. Is there any way that I could confirm what the colour looks like in person?
I LOVE Epiphone these last couple of years. I went from not liking them at all a few years back to prefer g them today. They really made the changes that people wanted. The only thing left is to get ROSEWOOD on those fretboards. The Laurel was fine during the rosewood ban. The ban is lifted so there is no excuse now. Even Fender has rosewood now.
Gotta remember Epiphone uses poly finishes, probably different dyes, and I don't believe they use Honduran mahogany either. That would make the colors different.
Really Nice. As someone who is a big Metallica fan, Gibson should also do the Custom Color series on the Flying V and the Explorer. They should also include the Cherry finish on it.
It's taken me years to understand your almost obsessive affinity for aesthetics, finish, color.. over playability and sound quality. But I dig your research tremendously. I'm a player that assists all guitars into stage 4 life.Your perspective is very informative and honorable. Rock on.
I like the Gold top and the blood moon burst. For a gold top I prefer the mahogany red or brown back and sides or a walnut back and sides. I also like the Honey amber. I'd lobbied to get one with dark Purple color in the flame lines and the honey amber on the rest. The spearmint i think should be a bluish green . That would be a color I'd buy if Epiphone or Gibson sold a guitar with what you called the Epiphone but as a Shark in the water Burst or if they could call it Jaws Burst. The Deep ocean burst reminds me of the midnight blue finish. Maybe it's the color in how it's coming through but the fascia looks more of a fire red instead of a flowery purple. I still Have the Pelham Blue Epiphone SG i bought from Austin.
Have you seen that the ES 335 Goldtop is already sold out on the Gibson HP? They are also a 1000 Dollars cheaper or is that low prize a mistake by Gibson? I mean a Goldtop ES 335 for under 3k?! I was really thinking about to buy one -.-
They haven’t done the flame top cherry burst custom in years and now that the Epi Customs have ebony instead of rosewood…. Whew boy I’m fighting my instincts here.
I feel bad, I have an Epi 339 pro in vintage burst that was given to me, and it just sits in its case. I should play that one more. I'm a metal guy, and the semi hollows just don't do it for me.
Apparently the new batch of Epiphone Original Collection Les Paul Customs were updated to feature maple tops, instead of the all-mahogany LPCs they've been doing since the 2020 revamp. Neat!
That doesn’t appear to be true. Only the IBGC ones have maple caps. The original collection ones still appear to be all mahogany according to the specs sheet (and with a flamed maple veneer on the new cherry sunburst custom)
@KevinTheMetalhead I was going off the recent listings on the Sweetwater website, where they list two "New" LPCs, in white and in black, apart from the other two OG Collection models in the same colors, and at the same price - the only spec difference being the maple top. But it is true that the Gibson and Epiphone websites don't seem to have posted anything about this. (And the SW website now lists 6 different Customs (3 in each colour) if you add the Inspired by Custom Shop - making the whole thing very dizzying! hahaha)
I checked these out earlier today. Custom shop money for production line guitars lol. The pics Gibson use to advertise them look great, but when one looks at the guitars actually in stock and available to buy, they don't look too much like the promo pics. I was underwhelmed to say the least. I bought one of the Les Pauls (cardinal red) and it's easily the worst brand new guitar I've ever bought from any manufacturer. That thing is so unpleasant to play that it's destined to be a case queen, in fact it already is, and quite frankly I think it's an expensive joke. Are these 335's going to be any better ? I doubt it.
But you're right - I've really started to dislike Gibson in recent years. They are not even close to worth the money and honestly there's just so much better stuff out there for a lot less dosh. On the other hand, I just bought a minty 2015 robot tuner Les Paul just to check out those tuners ( I never did before), and the strange thing is ... I like them ! I don't need them, but they work just fine and are quite amusing. So make what you like of that. The guitar it's self is 'ok', not great but not terrible either. It seems to be around that time that quality started to really really tank - I have Les Pauls from 2013 and 2014, and they aren't bad at all. But - that 'custom colors' LP is a load of you know what in all respects except looks. It does look good.
@@mordokch But Mail order? LOL This is misleading makes it sound like you actually played your guitar in person. -> "but when one looks at the guitars actually in stock and available to buy, they don't look too much like the promo pics. I was underwhelmed to say the least"

The 335 in watermelon is absolutely gorgeous.
Had to go to bed before this one uploaded last night. So I’ll get a double dose of Trogly today.
I'd be surprised if any of these color options were available within a year. Gimmicks.
Oh baby , the Spearmint ES-335 is so cool ! Also the Blood Moon , my favorite guitar is the Gibson ES-335 so this is great news ! Thanks Trogly !

The 'spearmint' finish started with the late 90's Gem series 'Emerald'
Trogly, your dedication never ceases to amaze me.

Given hints that I’ve seen, I think they’re gonna at least start using rosewood on their higher end models (the IBGC ones).
@@KevinTheMetalheadI really hope so man. It’s the only thing missing besides nitro finish which would make Gibson irrelevant IMO.

I have an Epiphone Les Paul TV Special, but now I need the SG TV Yellow (already wanted a SG)

Any word on SG standard new colors?
“Cobra burst” looks similar to the Gretsch Bristol fog.
The Cobra Burst looks sick.
You missed the Epi ‘50s Les Paul Standard figured in Seafoam Green (at least AMS was saying that’s a new color.)
The SG Inverness green is wicked
