I've been binging your videos and done countless past papers with your advice. Thank you so much for uploading as you're quite literally the only (and best) cambridge teacher on youtube
You're my fav english teacher!! I stumbled upon this goldmine just two days ago, and you have already cleared many of my doubts! I hope I will do well, with your help, in the upcoming english exam that is tomorrow.
Hey as I person who have watched your videos for years , I think you look good lately you are in a good shape. Just want to compliment you tho I don’t have any other intentions. And I really do appreciate your hard work.
Hey IGCSESUCESS! Omds you're not gonna believe it but I actually got an A* in IGCSE English. I wrote the May/June series and I watched your videos so often to master text types and essential paper 1 skills. I especially loved your final video on writer's effect and I often recommend you to my juniors at school. Thank you so much for the creative and educative content you produce!
I watched your other video on writers craft, and my god, did it help i only wish i saw this video as well, and then i would definitely have gotten an A* confirmed
this came just in time you’re a saviour!! Small question though, does the structure of the analysis matter much? Would I score higher if I followed a structure similar to yours?
There’s flexibility. Just make sure you zoom in and explore the explicit and implicit meaning of words and phrases. My structure is simply a suggestion so important steps aren’t missed out!
Hiiiii IGCSESUCCESS! I love your videos so much. If you see this message, could you please answer this question. If I suggest an implicit idea, and it’s not on the mark scheme, do I still get marks or not?🤗
for the response structure, do we have to use all of the points? Or is it optional? And will we lose marks if we use the same straters for every quote?
for the "overall effect of the language creates an image of...", is there any tricks you have that helps find this overall effect during the exam from any text?
Use the information after the ellipsis.. read the paragraphs carefully. Then, formulate your topic sentence by using key information after the ellipsis from the q- inc. a relevant adjective or abstract noun. E.g. The overall effect of the language creates an image of the writer’s desperation as they grapple with the sheer amount of revision they have to do.
@@IGCSESUCCESS thankyou for all your help!!! Tomorow is my exam, and after watching a lot of your videos I think i am not that nervous about the exam anymore!!!
Alot of the words you learn are used in certain contexts only. For example, the word 'hot' can be used both to describe a good looking person and to imply that something is of a high temperature. And one more thing: just read. Reading will allow you to adopt a certain style, develop your grammar and you'll pick up countless idioms and vocabularies- and you'll learn which context to use them best in.
There will always be more than three options- try choose an image in which the vocab is familiar too you. Failing that, try and use context clues to figure out what the writer is trying to suggest. Implicit meaning is the most important.
Sir, is it ok that I learned some of ur sentences and change some features in my writing for tmr exam? i'm afraid i'll be penalised for copying others' phrases
1. 8 explicit ideas 2. Stick to the word count 3. If asked to summarise two things, feel free to write two smaller paragraphs 4. Use a range of connectives 5. Third person 6. Use complex sentences 7. Group similar ideas together - you should never just had one idea in one sentence - aim for two or three.
In paper 12, the word limit of your word response is about 400 words but the word limit is from 200-300 words and my teachers tells me that sny thing above the word limit won't be marked.. please tell what to do
Umm, I wish teachers would stop telling their students this. Every word you write gets read and marked… it doesn’t simply get ignored and you don’t get penalised for going out the word count. Providing you stay nice and focused, you’ll be fine :)!
really important question here . if go over the word limit of 300 by lets say 100 150 words are your marks deducted or does the examiner straight up does not read ur answer plzzz reply ... much love
Thank you so much sir. You are not just helping IGCSE students, but overall the o-levels students from all over the world. Our exam has been updated to match the IGCSE from 2024 and the most daunting change was the writer’s effect. Prayers for your success, sir. Huge respect from Pakistan.

what does zoom in mean ?
for the "overall effect of the language creates an image of...", is there any tricks you have that helps find this overall effect during the exam from any text?

aside from learning new words, how can I be more articulate in my writing so my paragraphs are more vocabulary-rich?
Alot of the words you learn are used in certain contexts only. For example, the word 'hot' can be used both to describe a good looking person and to imply that something is of a high temperature.
And one more thing: just read. Reading will allow you to adopt a certain style, develop your grammar and you'll pick up countless idioms and vocabularies- and you'll learn which context to use them best in.
So is the purple pretty much describing what the quote means
Exactly!
I’ve made it to the violinist 💪
For the writer's effect question, could we go deep and assume what the explicit meaning conveys while doing the implicit meaning analysis?
The explicit meaning requires no deep exploration. The word/phrase means…. Then you go on to your implicit exploration.
sir can you make a video on directed writing paper 1
Will be ready in the next few days
what if our handwriting is huge and writing a lot will mean i need extra sheets? is it recommended to use additional sheets?
Extra sheets are always available.
What do we do when a word or phrase is the only option but don’t know its meanings
There will always be more than three options- try choose an image in which the vocab is familiar too you. Failing that, try and use context clues to figure out what the writer is trying to suggest. Implicit meaning is the most important.
Thank you so much tomorrow is my paper 1
