Baahubali 1&2 was meant for the theatres.
Yah, its maddening that RRR wasn't nominated for other elements, like best picture. The amount of fan fare the world has given, and the accolades, as well as the praises from the biggest film directors from the world... I'm more in the line of thinking that it was left out because something else was "supposed" to take it...

That's exactly how I feel!
Attracted to badass fighter: that's straight from Mahabharat. Arjuna fell in love with Manipuri princess Jaya /Chitrangada watching her fight in a battle. She was a normal looking girl but her fighting skills are said to be on par with great warriors. She could hold her own fighting beside Arjuna. And yes she was really good with bow.
In modern time that would be Mrignayani and Mansingh tomar in 15th century.
Here in India bahubali is much bigger than RRR. Bahubali is a household name but many people doesn't even know about RRR especially the boomer generation. Bahubali connects to Indian emotions and culture more than RRR so it will always have the top spot, but RRR is awesome too.
It's just that for some weird reasons RRR really clicked for western audience lol.

Bahubali is way beete than RRR and it is very very very popular in india than RRR. It’s very much a cultural thing , because it is rooted in Indian culture and folklore . May be you guys loved RRR more which is great but if you were Indian you would have loved Bahubali more because of symbolism , philosophy behind every scenes .
