I’ve had the Elantra SE in intense blue for about 4 months and I absolutely love it. The styling is gorgeous, the gas mileage is even better than advertised, and the safety features have already saved me from a couple of accidents. Highly recommend this car!
@Turnt ! What is your average mpg?
Hyundai and Kia are now making cars I want to buy more than Honda or Toyota.
If only hyundai and kia can make it to 300k miles without much work done they will win but until then on a more consistent basis its still honda and toyota.
@@alvinsimba734 newer Honda's definitely won't, not with their problems with the 1.5 turbos in everything and the cvts they keep doing. Though hyundai and kias dct probably won't be the most reliable down the line. The rest of their power train lineup should be as reliable as any new toyota, definitely above honda
@@alvinsimba734 Toyota maybe. Honda's aren't that great anymore.
@@NBABY-J and once again if many more reach those miles without much work l believe you and i would love to see videos of it.
@Alvin Simba, I like Toyota's and Honda's but they lack the 5 year bumper to bumper and 10 year drivetrain warranty that Hyundai and Kia have ..
Personally i like this design.
I’m literally getting this car with the convenience package this coming Saturday 😍Can’t wait!☺️
Awesome car! Congrats!
@@goldpony thank you! It’ll be the first car I purchase for myself. I’m currently driving a 2003 dodge neon so this is quite the upgrade lol
@@ChiChi-sb4ys
Congrats🤩
I would be excited as much as you are if i were in the same situation
@@YY-ip2jy thank you!😊
@@YY-ip2jy tell us your thoughts when u get it.
You are one of the ONLY UA-cam reviewers to address the "Grab Handle" (I just call it a BAR), between the passenger & driver's sides of this car! I feel like that thing is the elephant in the room! It's a rather bold design choice! It LOOKS cool, but I feel like it separates the passenger from the driver, and I don't know how I feel about that. In any case, I thank you for even MAKING MENTION of it. Almost no-one else has.
Yes...with this colour the styling is amazing
I absolutely love the interior. It's got a nice luxurious vibe to it. Can't wait to get mine this week!
Omg this is impressive. Very well done 👍
getting this in 2 weeks as my first car ever cant wait!!!
Awesome pick! Congrats!
It looks good in blue.
I just bought the same SEL model in Gray. Love the car so far. I stayed with the 8" screen because it has wireless Android Auto/Apple Car Play and the 10" screen is wired. The rear styling is gorgeous.
Is it good on gas ?
Just got this car in what I have named space gray with the black wheels and I love it .
Looks amazing! 2021 they went in the right direction 😎👍👍👍👍👍
Liking this car. Especially the hybrid option!
I recently purchased a 17 limited edition. Beautiful car. Pleasure to drive. I found the design preferable to comparable Corolla
Have a 17 that I bought new. Been a great car. 80.000 miles now 0 repairs 0 issues.
@@johnfranklin5277 Glad to hear that! I'm almost at 21,000 and running great
Drove off the lot with this today. Walked in blind not knowing which vehicle I wanted, but I laid eyes on the last model in the lot and I am glad it chose me 😆. Test drive was unexpectedly impressive. Oh, I got the SEL CP
Awesome car! Congrats!
I was waiting for a review of this guy since it was announced as the interior looked really good to me in the renders but I wondered how the driving felt...
Which yeah I was looking into the Ford Mustang Mach E, Mustang Ecoboost premium, Escape Hybrid, Bronco, and Mazda CX 30 for my potential first car.
It looks likes the 2021 Elantra Limited/Hybrid would fit in well in that group thanks for the video!
I think they are old school multi port injection for better reliability and cost. Think the direct injection engine s can have carbon buildup problems and cost more and are much higher presure so may be less reliable.
Looks amazing!
Looks like Sonata was a sketching practice leading to a perfect design on Elantra.
I was originally in the market for a new civic but then I came across the new elantra and I was sold. I now own a 2023 elantra sel with the convenience package 😁
Just purchased the 2022 one! Love it
Ride quality better than the Mazda 3 and Corolla! That's one bold claim.
Picked up an SEL w/premium package the other day. Loving it so far. Just wish it had LED headlights (did not go with the Limited because you lose the wireless CarPlay).
You lose the wireless carplay with limited? Really? Didn't know that. Thanks
I got the sel premium package as well and i am disappointed on not having led lights
@@sandeepranote9756 I have the limited you get it if you plug it in
It's extremely weird that they drop wireless Android Auto/apple on the Limited, but not on the base model
@@SpectorEuro4 It has to do with the 10.25" screen. Compatibility issues with wireless CarPlay and the screen size.
Wow this car looks sick
Love this car!!!
Im in the market for this vehicle... my only concern really is that handle bar on the passenger side.. i frequently have bigger size passengers and I fear thats going to impact leg room severely. Any opinions? Thx
I'm still getting used to the styling. Prefer the 17-18 Elantra Sport more still honestly. Like that blue tho.
I just bought a 2022 model and the paperwork states it's assembled in Alabama, the engine US and transmission, Mexico.
The author states the 2021 model was 97% Korean so I wonder what changed this year?
The design language on the elantra holds up better than the sonata in my opinion. However, the Forte with the same engine has a better looking exterior.
Agree (and we have a 2020 Elantra SEL) ….. hate the new Elantra styling …I would go with the Kia
IRS is available only on hybrid, N/N-Lines models.
The best review
Appreciate it! 😁
My Canadian Hybrid "Ultimate" has the wireless android AND wireless charging. Totally worth it over the larger screen and wired Android auto which wasn't even available as an option.
I really like the design!
First!!! Wanna review one so bad!
Hi, I am Korean and I bought 2021 Elantra. The design is really pretty. But Hyundai Elantra had a slight defect. Don't worry, Koreans are beta testers. Hyundai will sell it to us first and if there is a defect, we will secure it and sell it to you guys. All Hyundai cars do.Damn it. But my My car's not defective yet. And so beautiful 😍
It's a great car! 👍
What's the defect?
The air conditioner made a sound of running water or a short different and there was a symptom of water coming into the trunk, and he said you had to tighten the screws more on the lower part.
@@플로디아-r4c So it's a AC defect? Not like an engine defect like the 2010-2015 models?
That's why I am comfortable getting the refresh/ new lines of Hyundai. My hybrid came from Korea!
Great Review. Heated Seats and Heated Mirrors are not available on The SEL trim levels?
I think they are optional
Thanks for letting me know
what would you guys get, automatic or manual?
This car will sell well, even better now that Honda has released views of the all new CIVIC. OMG!! what the hell were thinking with that redesign!!
Older people wanted a more laid back design that’s not as sporty but classy. So that’s what Honda did
that sidewall helps with the ride comfort i guess
How does the Camry get such better fuel economy then smaller cars? I get 38-40 in my 18 Camry
He just said the MPG is 33 city, 43 highway.. so, not really better if you are referring to highway mileage. I have the 2019 Corolla hatchback. Rated at 32 city,42 highway. By the way, it has a fairly substantial jump in power over the elantra.. more than 20 horsepower with basically the same MPG.. I easily beat the EPA rating. I get 40 in the city when I watch my throttle... High 40s on the highway! Toyota just gets the better MPG it seems..
@@kevina2052 its because of that trash cvt they put in their cars
My 2020 gives me about 40-45 on the freeway
@@lizardgreen2121 cvt has been out on toyota since 2014 and no major issues. I know you going to say recall for them. Yes there was a recall for about 3400 of 2019 hatchbacks which had to do with fuel pump which was addressed to those who had the cars. No manufacturer is perfect but one thing I will give toyota credit is they actually fix those recalls at no extra cost. So apart from that, the cvts in toyotas have been almost flawless for the seven years they been out. Also the corolla is low cost maintenance compared to most competitors. Hyundai and kia may have some nice interiors over toyota that I can admit but when it comes to engine toyota reigns Supreme in that department. In my city, all 2020 corollas were all sold out by November 2020 and not even December. I know places differ thats for sure.
Help ! I don't know what to pick between the grey and all black interior !!! I'll need to make a choice one day as my dealer is waiting for me lol what are the pros and cons of both on long term ?? I kinda like the grey but my hubby said it'll look dirty in a short time ... Anyone else has had a light interior before ?
I would get the black interior, take care!
How does NVH compare with your Sonata?
Did you just say that it has a torsen beam rear axle? So what does it do when it senses torque?
Isn't this Elantra made in US plant? Hyundai will make similar looking Accent in Asian market but it won't be sold in NA
Can u believe this? I saw lowest number average 4.7L/100km on the highway!
Currently looking to get a new car.....I have a 2011 Elantra but living in New England....does not do great in the winter. So i have been eyeing either a Kona or HR-V.....but man is this car sexy looking
Hyundai’s value drops the fastest. 📠
Any chance of reviewing the Mazda 3 turbo soon? It's available now
I'll definitely try! 👍
@@goldpony thank you sir, and always appreciate the in depth reviews
The 3yrs of complimentary Maintenance sounds better than it really is. They pay for oil change/filter and tire rotation at 7500 mile or 1 year intervals. For many drivers this will be only 1 or maybe 2 times a year. So its only $180-$360 you save. They also push way overpriced extensions to the coverage which should always be declined.
Good luck finding one now. 28k OTD. No chips from China brah.
Can you do a 2020 or 2021 Toyota Chr limited (I think the fully loaded one). Pleaseee
I'll certainly try! 🙂
Cool car
When you gonna review the Mazda3 turbo?!
Definitely on my list! 😁
Check out Motormouth for a review of the turbo.
Which Hyundai’s are yours?
2020 Sonata & 2017 Santa Fe 👍
Do all the trim levels have the same brakes. / disks.... no rear drums?
Correct 👍
@@goldpony thank you for the info.
Badass car
Just a question. Why do Americans say “Hundai” ? There’s a ‘y’ after the ‘H’ . In Australia we say it how it’s spelt, “Hi un dai” .
I don't know actually. The Hyundai commercials say it with "day" at the end here in the U.S. so I guess that's why but it is interesting 🤔
Does it burn oil?
What is the piece covering the side of the dash above the driver side vent? There is a circle sticker on every trim that I have seen, and also an electronic parking brake.
Hyundai designer SangYup Lee said that it's basically like a blackboard. You can stick your cellphone holder or car diffusers there. He also hinted Elantra N might have functioning gauges.
@@geepark9075 upon further research, it is just a design. Only in the Elantra N line will it have a drive mode button.
10:58. That doesn’t look like a 60/40 split
2021 Hyundai Elantra (N Line package 🤔, how much horse power? ). 😍 Look aerodynamis sporty.👍🏼👌🏼
201 HP / 195 lbs of Torque for N Line. I think it’s essentially the same engine that was introduced in 2017.
@@subvet3668 😕
which trim level is this?
Is there a model with a stick shift?
N Line
Where’s the temp gauge?
Could you review the 2021 Spark?
It has been sparked.
I was praying they would have stayed with port injection, not direct injection due to carbon build up problems.
The 2.0 is port injected, the 1.6 N Line engine is GDI.
@@Kizzle001 thanks
Elaaarntra?
I wonder if the Limited model has as much hard plastic arounf cup holders.
What's the smart mode?
Save gas
@@Joeypop145 Thanks but how does it compare to Eco mode?
@@FeelFree3 I'm sorry the smart mode it's for the car to adjust depending on what driving conditions you're driving in,then it will automatically choose the mode for you
Hyundai and Kia are far better dollar for dollar values
Even the top fully loaded 2021 Hyundai Elantra Limited that costs $26,000 (not including sales tax and dealer fees) only has 147 horsepower and has the cheap torsion beam rear suspension. Not cool.
thats why they want you to pay several thousand more for the nline with the more powerful engine, and independant rear suspension
@@Mohankeneh So in the end, after you include sales tax, registration, doc fees etc. you will have to pay like 33K total for a brand new 2021 N Line Hyundai Elantra. Just for 201 hp and dual clutch transmission and IRS.
Not worth it. The 2021 Kia Forte GT gives you that for like 26K including taxes.
Well, mazda 3 had it's independent rear suspension jerked out last lear, and they think it was cool to do so.
@@braetonwilson4296 right and also the 10 year 100k warranty that says a lot because most of their cars become heaps of junk once that warranty is past, whereas for toyota its not even broken in at that point, you can go for who knows as long as maintenance is followed properly.
@@alvinsimba734 Very true.
Anything better than corolla or civic will do
Hard plastics in a cheap car is inevitable, why even complain about that 😂
Not complaining... just saying Mazda 3, Corolla do it better when it comes to that and I actually got my 2020 Sonata for $23k that has much less plastic then the Elantra as well... just was expecting more thats all 👍
Why are you all young reviewers reviewing a car after your own taste or priorities? It would have been nice to start the review in normal mode then smart mode and finish with your preferred loved and high esteemed Sport mode as if the engine will transform into a V8. Why is it you your reviewers don't think outside the box for one minute. I'm not 75 and not 35 either. So my comment is not coming from an old fart. I wtb this Elantra and I rely a bit on reviewers but when the review starts like yours, I know you're not totally working for all possible buyers. You even didn't bother to at least try be it 2 minutes either modes and always repeating Sport Mode Sport mode. My 10 cents for what is in every other way a very very great review. Guess I will have to try normal and smart mode by myself since no "young" reviewers will do it.
Do the Kia K5
Kia is dropping that one off later this month 👍
@@goldpony Ok
I’d only get the manual one
automatic trans were the worse in my cars. it does not have manual option, so i do not buy. sorry .
Looks better than the corolla but not the civic, especially given the power difference.
It is so nice that there are many cars you can choose from.
On my test drive of a limited I found a full one second lag between the accelerator and the engine response. The car felt front heavy and sluggish. Also the headlights created a weird shadow in the middle at a distance. I actually thought a large black dog was running across the field as I came through the curve. I hit the brakes and realized it was the headlight anomaly. The mood lighting inside was childish. It’s a car not a jukebox. I have owned two Elantra’s in the past. A 2011 and a 2018. Both were totaled. The cars do not hold their value well. I would not recommend this car.
You get what you pay for. It’s a compact value sedan. 🤷🏽♂️
@@Trackstar491 toyota corolla has way better value compared to whats been represented here
Friend of mine has had 2 Elantras in the past 20 years. All made it beyond 300,000, zero problems at all.
Looks like a HUGE C pillar blind spot. Ya think as it has just been redesigned they could have addressed that. As well. Halogen lights!? In 2020. They are horrible in all vehicles compared to led lights. For a hundred bucks more all models should have standard led for safety’s sake
Blind spot monitor comes standard even in SE trim(lowest)
@@blackwhirlwind1245 cool.. but what about the blind spots caused BY the car in the form of shitty bulbs?!? LOL
Not feeling the basket weaving grilles from H & K
mrthree What a gay comment. "Basket weaving grilles from H & K". What in the hell are you even talking about?
many people sticked to toyo or honda w.o reason nowadays... stupid...
I love how the elantra is suppose to get 31-41 mpg, but in the video it shows 15-18 mpg smh, trash !!! But handsome looking car.
And some might say "he had it in sport mode" , yea sure but you still won't average 30mpg, maybe 25 , kinda like the 2020 elantra Value .
That's of the current average, not of the tank.
@@jordanmacedone ???? If hyundai advertises 31-41 mpg then why would it be okay for the average be any less? There are ways to make it low but this guy most likely didn't do anything fuel consumption heavy. The truth is is that hyundai's engines aren't as good as hondas or toyotas.
@@jordanmacedone the car is better looking 💯, but people are buying the elantra because they want to save on gas. This doesn't do what they advertise
Exactly my point. I have a 2018 & 2020 and if I just filled my tank, and just sat in a parking lot, the gauge is going to read something low. I can floor it, and get 10mpg. Or I could coast down a hill in neutral and get 80mpg according to the gauge.
My point is, if you drive normal, you will get the 31-41mpg. Sitting in my car right now writing this post, I'm seeing it go from 31.5 to 31.4mpg.
Dohc motor 1.6🥴🥴
Hyundai is generic buy A toyota
This CVT junk needs to stop!!
@MAGA NO you quit crying
@MAGA Quit gendering me!
Not all cvts are bad. Don't generalize cvts due to nissan reputation if thats what you thinking. Test drive and see it for yourself
