BYJU started a business based on unethical practices. The marketing team will convince you that your child is a nit wit and will remain so until you pay a hefty sum to buy their package. They would create a panic among the parents and took advantage of their concern about the future of their children. Such a model is not viable or sustainable in the long run. Byju looks inflated because of investor's money. BYJU had tremendous potential but it is a classic case of wrong priorities, too much greed and the blood sucking tendencies of the so called "Education Manager". These Education Managers would reach their sales target by hook or by crook. Such unethical practices could never thrive in India where the growing middle class is so very concerned about education. One day the bubble had to burst and it did. I think the common masses are happy today. Let this lesson be learnt: BE ETHICAL OR YOU WILL HAVE TO MEET WITH THE SAME FATE.

Byjus a third class company ….my own experience, which I can’t even say an experience actually, ..I just one day downloaded the app to check the syllabus for 6th/7th standard and simply just browsed for hardly 20 mins and left, but then I started getting calls 4/5 times for next three days continuously asking me indirect questions like what I was looking for and why I selected byjus etc and finally they started to literally pester me for taking up a package (as I take home tuitions) ..I said no politely but they kept calling and almost trying to scare me for not buying any package and losing on opportunities….I had to give harsh words to get the call centre caller stop calling me……..it sounds little with passing of time but was horrible & unpleasant experience for sure, I got so pissed off at byjus and never had ever checked it out again……this incident is almost four/five years back, and see their arrogance & greed is out in open now.

Furthermore, there are a lot of free educational materials available on the net. For example, Khan Academy; is run on grants, donations from large companies, and small donors, etc. I think someone should start an educational platform like Khan Academy focusing on Indian students' needs, including lessons in STEM. commerce, arts, and competitive exams. They don't really have a clear plan, to make all the spending count and stay acquiring a loyal customer base. They usually don't know how to make that transition to cut down spending and increase profits. The Indian Startup ecosystem is all about providing services, ed-tech, fin-tech, aggregators, shopping, delivery etc. These are not sustainable as their shelf life is short, new players will replace the old ones. We should now seriously look at Product based Startups for example mobile phones, televisions, electronics, automobile etc. Unfortunately right now it is China and Korea who is dominating this space around the world. Instead of assembling, we should look at innovation and creating a product recipe which is indigenous. Lack of access to Finance is a major reason for this.

He bit more than he could chew ! I had also purchased his product for my daughter. At that time ( about four years back), it cost me Rs.70,000 including the cost of a 7 inches tablet. But later I found that as my daughter got promoted Baiju's have to provide a secret code to open the videos for the new class. At the same time, the videos for the previous class will get blocked and will never be able to be accessed! By the time, my daughter has passed out of 10th Standard, there will be nothing left of the study material ! I wish they have disclosed this before hand. In that case, I would not have purchased it. I would have spent the money for purchasing Encyclopedia Britannica which would have been worth the investment as we could use it for eternity!

Byjus was hiding the company's profits in other offshore banks outside India, like many startups. And during losses he was trying to take loans and was firing too many employees. So it is evident that the focus is on sucking cash and many startups are doing that, like they create a hype with a new product and then investors would dump and raise the value and then once there is loss due to product failure, then investors would withdraw ASAP. This is a recurring situation all over the world and now in India it is extremely popular. The Indian middle class educated society should be matured and smart, but unfortunately the society is still arrogant, selfish (caste based racism to some extent), dumb and are not well informed about the current truth and crisis around the world.
