To be clear The Warning did not do a cover of Enter Sandman to become popular, as this cover was uploaded to their dad's UA-cam channel, because the video file was too big and they wanted their family to see it, that's all, there were no plans to use it to promote the band, as the band did not even have their own UA-cam channel yet.
Also it is not only that he doesn't get it, but that he clearly did not put any effort into researching the band or actively listening to their discography.

    • @rantandchill9503
      @rantandchill9503  2 дні тому +6

That puts things in perspective. It even explains why they would choose more popular song by metallica, it's the song that nonmetal heads would know as it is played everywhere.
But don't tell the old man this, he might become even more irate when he learns the video was actually meant for family members and there was no expectation for it to blow up.

Good point, not liking The Warning is NOT the issue (to each their own) but where he crossed the line was promoting a false narrative. He had their entire history incorrect… and he made assumptions that put the band in a bad light. This guy did it to himself, but I’m sure he regrets it now.

Look at the titles of videos on his channel. He has basically traded a mediocre career as a professional drummer to become a professional troll who tries to generate clicks and comments by being controversial and negative about the subjects of his videos. I believe his rambling, inaccurate video criticizing TW and TWA are largely born out of jealousy. BTW, he is a Gen X, not a boomer but glad you called him out on all his nonsense. 😎

Normally I watch your channel from a more academic tag (Tinsley) as that was why I was watching reaction channels to begin with. I choose this tag because we have been aware of Andy for awhile and I'm impressed by your analysis of his content and purpose and agree with you from this perspective. This was a good presentation... keep up the good work.
Most of the "mature" people, like yourself, that express opinions on The Warning as a band, or DPA as young women growing up in a harsh business, understand what they are talking about and while they may not be always fawning all over the "girls" they see the effort and the talent and the results and discuss it in an informed way.
That said, just as Pau joked about being big enough to now have "fake merch" they are now also popular enough to generate "hits" for "fake" reactors like Andy. He is simply a short fall session drummer who has no real history even close to names he drops. He's the "Gorgeous George" of reaction channels using outlandish image and action to provoke an audience. He's getting what he sees as his salvation in old age and maybe a means to provide some income that isn't coming from his "career".
One thing Andy can't see Is the recognition and support DPA got, and still gets, from the name brand performers that "coach" them along the way. Andy and his "followers" need their shallow frame of reference in order to stave off responsibility for their own circumstances. The guy can't even manage routine figure of speech expressions like "you HAVE to listen to this band" and has to translate it to an "order" that he wants to show he doesn't have to take.
You have him laid out pretty well and I noticed you didn't wear the sunglasses and simply laid out the facts... EXCELLENT!!! Andy should take the message this time.
Take Care... all the best in the New Year.

The Corrs are a fairly decent family band from Ireland, who have been around since 1990. The reason that, for example, you haven't heard of them is because their fans aren't inspired to promote them widely, as The Warning fans do with TW.
No-one is saying listen to a particular album by The Warning because the others are no good, but some are regarded as a better starting point than others. Everyone has their own opinion on where The Warning noobies should start, but honestly, there are no bad choices. Start with their early albums and follow their journey, or start with their latest and go back to find their origins, it's all good.
Lastly, if this guy is so offended by fans saying check out this or that band / song, maybe he should rethink his decision to run a reaction channel. It's something every reactor deals with, he needs to get over himself.

He remarked that many of us older folks think that rock is dead. I asked him to take a look at The Warning (as did others). He is a drummer who played with Robert Plant after LZ disbanded. After that he has (and still does) play in jazz/fusion bands. I think that he meant to say that Metallica was influenced by the british invasion, not that they came from it. He absolutely nailed it when he said that The Warning represents an ideal version of 'proper rock' to certain older fans who can't deal with the fact that they've lost the ability to listen to modern rock. It's the exact same ones that complained about the sound of Keep Me Fed, and said it didn’t sound like a Warning album. The same ones that want them to keep making QOTMS over and over. The same ones that won't listen to the modern bands that DPA listen to, like Dead Poets Society, Muse, Bring Me The Horizon, My Chemical Romance or Royal Blood. The ones that want them to sound like Queen, Sabbath and Pink Floyd, because that's their fuzzy blanket.

He said "Yeah. They're good, but not outstanding." Remember, he's comparing them to Jaco Pastorious, John McLaughlin and Tony Williams. He's comparing them to high level musical excellence. DPA are really good, but compared to Mahavishnu Orchestra, Genesis, Gentle Giant, UK, Yes or Gong, TW is pretty straight forward rock. Compared to The Bangles, The Warning are light years beyond. Compared to King Crimson, they ARE The Bangles.
What the Warning Army accomplished is completely turning off a potential supporter. All he sees is a completely toxic fanbase that shriek like banshees when anyone dares criticize their girls. Nice work. Way to represent.

Also he (as many others) makes the mistake of comparing TW with heavy/ speed metal bands like Metallica. People just don't get it: TW is NOT heavy and don't want to be either. What they do is alternative Rock, much more melodic. Of course you'll be disappointed if you expect TW or Paramore or Muse to sound like Iron Maiden, Tool or Carcass.
