My husband is in the front row behind the gun carriage with the coffin on it. The had 6 days to get the linked arm March correct. He was a submariner when this funeral happened he's now 61 years old
I was there outside the Abbey Door to the right, also a Submariner
pressure head marching, you jest .....
He was only a kid! No one surpasses the Brits when it comes to ceremonies like these.
I'm being seen on the middle of rear flank of the Indian soldier's contingent. I'm wearing my maroon beret. That time I was a small fry in Indian High Commission there. I'm seeing this after good 43 long years.
If it were not for the cars you would think that you were looking at Victorian London
and rifles, uniforms, etc.
Naturally. It’s called Tradition.
Victorian London? No. No you’re going back a century. Look at the fashions and, if this were Victorian London it would not be in color!
Really? Looks more like 2020 to me
We all know he was not a pleasant individual. However it is ridiculous to pin the blame of mass murder on him as regards the India/Pakistan partition. Mountbatten was out of his depth & the main antagonists were Jinna & Gandhi. Get over it. As regards his death he had been repeatedly warned. For the Irish it was an easy murder. He paid the price for ignoring Special Branch.
It. Could have been done better but that would require the cooperation of the power hungry Indian elites. Mountbatten saw what was coming So now they just blame the Brit’s
@@Dog.soldier1950 They've blamed it on the Brits since the British went into India. What they don't realise is, given the size of India and its population they could have resisted had they really wanted to. For the few Indian states that resisted (India wasn't a united entity at the time as it is today, it was a collection of independent states and mini kingdoms per say) they were simply trounced by the British, the British then negotiated with who was left and were invited in pretty much. The British never had the manpower from the beginning to seize the entre Indian sub-continent so how do you think it was done? Well, as I said they were invited in. Wealthy Princely State rulers & Sultans were assured they would be left alone, and their wealth would remain untouched so long as they didn't cause trouble, and the elites agreed.
The Indian people as they were at the time were sold out by their own elites - but that's a very uncomfortable truth many of them would rather ignore because it doesn't fit the 'oppressed' narrative.
@@bobpage6597 a bit like how the EU and corporate global elites are politically, culturally and socially usurping traditional societies across Europe today
@@bobpage6597 rightly so. mountbatten is blamed for overseeing a shoddy job, partition of a sub continent and death of millions. u may not accept it but its the truth. take a day off and go visit the archives.
@@subramanianananthakrishnan3232 Victim mentality once again. 'Take a day off' 😂
Such a sad affair. I picked up a Book in a charity shop entitled "Mountbatten, Eighty years in pictures" is was a selection of his photos when I looked in the sleeve I noticed that it was published in 1979. The last sentence says: "The story of Mountbatten's unique and extraordinary career remains to be told but the photographs in this book provide a glimpse of eighty highly eventful years." So sad. Back then within 24 months of each other you had the Terrorist murders of Airey Neave, the Iranian Embassy siege and Warren Point! in Britain alone.
You silly bastard 🤮☝️🇮🇪
Prince Peter you absolute knob,he was nothing more than filth.
@@uglycustard1 Get stuffed!
@@uglycustard1 you skumbag.
The cowardly cold blooded murders of the IRA will stay with me forever. I remember the times only too well. Bomb scares, letter and car bombs etc. The destruction of property and deaths of innocent people. The Americans bleated about the terrible act of the world trade centre atrocity, but I recall that a significant amount of funding for the IRA by Irish Americans which allowed them to obtain explosives and weapons from places like Libya. It’s a shock when terrorism is close to home.
Mountbatten’s murder broke (the then) Prince Charles’s heart.
Given the Earl’s violent end it’s astonishing to see no outpouring of grief from the Royals. They look as though they didn't shed a tear.
well he was known as the master of disaster, unlike Midas, everything he touched he turned to shite
Haven't you heard of the stiff upper lip the BRF is famous for?
It would be nice if you post funeral service at Westminster Abbey for Lord Mountbatten
wow thats something you don't see in a funeral procession at 2:33 U.S navy and USMC
They served under him during WW2 in Europe and SE Asia
@Amit Joshi Well, he was the last Viceroy.
@@sinogarcon and the first Governot-General
Is there any footage of his funeral at Romsey Abbey?
Why no sound ?
There was no sound in 1979.
My late father used to say give Ireland back there five counties (what that means I don't know) and Ireland govern themselves
A small point but , the navy have no lanyards ? Was this for ceremonial reasons , anyone ?
Descanse em paz.
Com carinho, do Brasil.
Anyone else notices that the Flag draping the coffin is upside down! The Upper canton of the Union flag should cover the left shoulder!
I was in one of the armoured cars
steve8869 you mean... a funeral? 😂
You were not the one in the coffin, then? Eh, mate?
One hell of a show for the consumate Showman.
No Irish contingent for the funeral procession? ......too soon?
Vi o que aconteceu no The Crown... lamentável.
All sparkers carrying the coffin...one of their own.
No Sound.
Its called B roll
why no sound?
Oh wow. Sad but makes one proud to be British
Nah not really, his death was the result of famine and crimes against Ireland, England’s history of colonising makes hitler look like a saint
Why?
That was ages ago in late 70s
Sic transit gloria mundi.
Phillip Mountbatten King George VI
Is this a state funeral or a royal ceremonial funeral?
Ceremonial Funeral
Sometimes there seems to be no practical difference. I was standing in Whitehall, opposite Horse Guards, and I remember the Navy 'reversing arms on the march' as they wheeled out into Whitehall, which was most impressive.
Shame they couldn't make sure the flag was draping the coffin properly, (NB upper canton should be folded over the coffin's left shoulder)
You can see the superior drill by all the forces in 1979 and there are no over weight military personnel, the difference from today's recent royal funeral!! More disciplined military in 1979 and none of this new WOKEY rubbish, you can see it in all their faces.
I don't remember seeing overweight military personnel at the recent State Funeral.
@@seansmith445 me neither...
now charles has buried his father. the first death march for wills and harry was for their mother, presumably. i'd hate this 'tradition,' if i were them. commendable.
Mountbatten was a close friend of Jimmy Saville -- just like King Charles.
Without sound, this is pointless..
The flag is upside-down on the coffin!
Its the right way.
How can it be upside down when it is horizontal, you need to renew the straw that is in your cranium
Its all to do with their Satanism as everything that they do is inverted!
@@DAVEBEEE Leme guess, Irish Catholics?
Yes, the flag is upside down. The canton of the flag (which the white saltire of St. Andrew's Cross is higher than the red saltire of St. Patrick's Cross) should be on the left shoulder of the coffin.

Churchill Ma
Responsible for Partition of India where millions died
Omi S yeah when ever an Indian killed a Pakistani it was Dicky Mountbatten’s fault.
Guess those primitive brown people aren’t responsible for their actions.
Responsible for raping and murdering many children.
Kshitij Khanna They also killed a 14 year old Irish boy that day. Not to mention the thousands of other innocent people the IRA killed. God damn you and your pathetic, inbred moronic comments
Not to mention Kincora. Amazing what gets conveniently forgotten when you have connections.
Who Gives a Tosser.
90 % of the people...but then again 90% of people are proven to be losers.
Lol
All these made up titles, these people are so self serving, this guy was nothing but an impostor who desperately tried to be part of the RF
Yes ansolutely.
What gives you both the right to state this ,did you know him personally ,I doubt it ! You are probably part of the small fry ,just like every one else including myself . Have you served your country ? Well he did ,and I have (although mine was so small . But having said that ,I wish you well.
He was born a member of royal family. The grandson of Queen Victoria. Until 1917 he was HSH Prince Louis of Battenberg
@@johnlawrence7150 He didn't serve his country he served himself! He was a disgusting creature who got away with child abuse for years until, even the royal family had enough of him, and he was 'dealt with'.....
