A band of Broncos hidden in the Alaskan bush | Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 47
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- Tom wrangles a herd of first-gen Ford Broncos outside a remote town in Alaska. As Tim, the owner of the vehicles, shows Tom around, it’s apparent that his love of classic SUVs doesn’t start and end with Ford’s iconic two-door 4x4.

Hallo my friend 👍🤘💖🐉👋😎
You have to look at those 73 - 79 ford crewcabs more closely, they are rare! Everybody wants them these days, as first gen broncos and mustangs are all out of peoples budgets now sadly...
Id like the coral one.
I was stationed at Lowry AFB in Denver in late 70's and they had quite a few of the blue broncos . Automatic with 302 , Dana 44 , rear locker , locking hubs and heavy duty heater package . Dual alternators , dual batteries . Thanks for sharing !
Plz show trucks so many good ones u pass
that last coral one was by far the best and needs to me moved .. btw nice of tom to let him drive the Shelby
1st Gen Broncos will always be my favorite Bronco.
Damn Man, nevermind about the Broncos, lets go for more wild rides in the 'Stang!!!
But he can't even find the gears or shift them properly
i love this series !!
We love our fans!
@@Hagerty
Especially when toms haulin ass around slow moving vehicles!😂👊🏻
I’ve never seen so many crew cab 73-79 trucks in one spot!!
Loved this show! My husband had a lot of Broncos he restored.....we have a 1966 one still in back. Thank you for this show!
WildflowerNJ1 let me know when you want to get rid of it
In 2005 I worked in the area around Dawson Creek. The beginning of the Alaskan Highway. As the fall season set in and the leaves fell I could see all kinds of cars and muscle cars in yards that were just sitting. One farmer had a several mopars in his yard. Great area to explore for barn finds, if they are still there.
Nice !
Very cool. One of Tom's top barn finding tips is to go searching during the fall after the leaves have fallen!
So I recently got Hagerty insurance on my 1975 Jeep J10. It was a Father’s Day present from my wife. It ticked all my boxes old muscle, Jeep, 4x4, and a truck. I’m self taught of what I know about fixing cars. I really enjoyed this episode, I love seeing old 4x4s.
(I will say I found it funny that UA-cam started suggestion your channel after I went on Google looking for classic car insurance once.) Hagerty is really the best option in my opinion for classic car insurance. You can beat the price for the coverage and what a great staff. Thank you!
Favorite episode so far. FJ40's are one of my favorite offroad vehicles. They have a look like they will take you anywhere you want without a single problem.
All those 73- 79 Ford crew cabs , man
Ya I about jumped outta my chair when I seen those!
My favorite show to watch. I love catching new episodes and im a Bronco man! I got a cherry 79 Custom.
Thanks for watching! Post some photos of that sweet 79 on our Facebook page.
Great show as always dont move over too motor trend on demand like roadkill✌
Absolutely no plans for that Cary. Thanks for being a fan!
Wow! Looking inside those Bronco's brought back some memories! My dad bought three different Bronco's; a '66, a '72, and a '76. All virtually the same except for the color. Wow! What memories!
Respect to you, Tom, for taking us off the beaten paths and introducing us to these good people and their treasures!
Great father-son interaction and glad you encouraged the young man in the video. The next generation gear head in the making!
I recently discovered this channel and have been watching these episodes on a daily basis. I am a classic car enthusiast and I would love to have a first generation Bronco. This are real cars and real people, none of that reality show drama bull crap that is on TV. Thanks for sharing these awesome videos!
Super awesome to find a vintage Bronco. Always great to see them drive around factory stock. Man, wish I could find one
The smirk on the guys face when he was driving the mustang, priceless
I bought a '75 Bronco brand new off the showroom floor. Paid $6,000 for it, (a LOT of money in '75!) Had the Dana 44, and posi in the rear and limited slip in the front, all from the factory. Was damn hard to get that stuck, either in mud or sand! Wish I still had that truck, although living in Illinois it died a horrible cancerous death from road salt. Near the end, when you opened either door, it would drop down about half an inch! My daughters still comment about looking at a portion of the road through the floorboards if they were riding in it. In those days, as with every American 70's car, rust protection and treated metals were just a pipe dream..... Thanks for this video, brought back a lot of memories!
I owned a '75 Bronco Sport with 302, that I paid $4500 in 1980. I sold my Land Rover SWB in the Yukon and wanted a similar body style to replace it, loved the Bronco. The body had rusted badly by the late 1980's.
Tom
Love your shows. Nothing compares to yours.
Thank you...
Thank you for the kind words Chris. Thanks for being a fan!
Driving all the way to Alaska to look at a barn find, that's dedication.
I’m 16 and I just bought a bronco! Love them so much
That green crew cab is killing me back there! I want it. I have it’s supercab cousin in my shop! Same exact color!
I'd much rather have a 4x4 shortbed crewcab F250 than a Bronco any day, but since I'm dreaming, I'll take the GT350. lol Nice collection and I think they are in good hands. I have a feeling those rigs won't sit and go to waste.
I bet the people driving the Military Vehicles you passed was thinking DAMN WAS THAT A SHELBY THAT JUST PASSED US ! LOL if they actually know what one is
Meanwhile, we were like, "Dang, was that an F-16 that just passed us?!" 😁
Hagerty Keep the Show's Going Tell Tom I Said Hello , I met him at The Charlotte 4 Wide Drag Races quite a few years ago , LOVE the Drag Races but hanging out with Tom was better all during the day we would swap car Stories ! GREAT TIME ! ACTUALLY PURCHASED A COUPLE OF HIS BOOKS TO ADD TO THE BARN FIND COLLECTION SERIES. TO ANYONE WHO WATCHES THESE VIDEOS PURCHASE HIS BOOKS YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED
Not only do I love Hagerty for the insurance on my '68 GTX, but I really enjoy all their video series as well.
Tom and Davin make these series great fun to watch and the videography is simply the best.
Y'all need to keep those fellas around as long as you can, Hagerty!
-Ed on the Ridge
I would have been grinning from ear to ear to have a chance of driving Tom's mustang, great to see so many early Broncos still surviving in the dry climate of Alaska
I had a 302 three speed bronco in Kodiak, Alaska in 76. It had been pretty beat up but still got me around the island. I remember going down one day into Kodiak and on the last little hill before dropping into town the right rear axle decided it didn't want to stay in the housing. Made for a bit of a walk and some work replacing the bearing and retainer.
Amazing show. I get excited to watch each episode. A Ford Bronco keeps my attention for about 5 minutes or less. That's all I watched and fast forwarded the rest.
I hit the like before seeing any barn finds 😄 Was worth it just seeing and hearing that pony in pass mode
I must say that I love Alaska and all of your classic car videos!
I'm in heaven with all the crew cab fords. Miss my 78 3/4 ton 4x4 4 speed was a regular cab had a 4 in skyjacker lift with 38.5 x 14.5 super swampers.
Love fj40 cruisers. My old man put a 350chev & manual box. Late model lockers. In caged & Exoskeleton cage. Winches front & rear with a in built compreser. He used to take me/my mother & my 2 young brothers muddying. Was a mustard yellow color.
Who doesn’t love a good road trip.
I drive my 2003 TJ, 2000 km (about 1200 miles) towing a utility trailer when we moved from Toronto, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia. I thought it would be the most exhausting vehicle to drive of our four ( the others being a 2007 Civic, 2014 RAV4 and 1984 Supra) but it actually turned out to be the most enjoyable of the bunch!
Holy Highboy crewcab city batman! They're all hiding in Alaska!
hats off to anyone that loads up an old vehicle they dragged home and then road trips the hell out of it.
A mate had a red hot 350 in a FJ with turbo 400 and that thing was pretty crazy offroad,
seen one of your SUVs on the road today in Scottsdale Arizona. It had a sticker in the back window that said for people who love cars. As soon as I seen the name Haggerty on the door with the 5-speed shift pattern I had to honk and wave and give a thumbs up. Nice to see you guys so close to my home. He got off on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard I believe. thanks for sharing your videos and being such a great Channel. Thumbs up!!!
There is just something about the early broncos. Good show...
Look at all them crew cabs 😍
This! Those are handsome trucks and I'm disappointed that he didn't spend any time on them whatsoever.
Lance H for real,, never seen so many in one place!!
Us and a Bus Tom and crew are definitely not fan of trucks. Always disappointed when they skip over f100s, c10s or any others
I want a 70s crew cab
Was thinking the same thing
Great vid. I owned a 69 Bronco in 1984-86. Also had a 74 Land Crusier in the early 1990's. The 74 was the first year with a four speed and the last year with a tailgate rear door. 1975's had barn doors on them. Wish like hell I had kept them both.
I didn't think those old broncos were so rare, I've seen quite a few of those around Alaska.
This man has a field of dreams. Tons of first-generation Broncos, and I believe even more crew cab dentside fords.
Best 30 minutes on UA-cam!! Keep 'em coming and how about a Tom Cotton episode where we get to see and hear about his cars??
Currently my favourite show on youtube.
I bet Jonathan Ward is booking a flight to Alaska right now...
I have an '72 Econoline painted that colour, Calypso Coral...one of my favourite Ford colours
Always loved Broncos, frequently see them in films, main guy always drives one!
This cracked me up!!! Nice job with passing all those rigs at the start. I'm from Nor Cal and yes we lost a giant Sequoia tree knows as "The Tunnel" tree last year. Glad Tim got a chance to drive through it before it fell. Watching him drive the Mustang it was obvious he was having fun even though Tim is pretty soft spoken There seemed to be remnant of his teenage age years still showing on his face. I mentioned on here before that I pulled a 76 F100 out of the pine trees from my neighbors yard, but the true prize that I've not gotten them to part with is a 74 Bronco. I think it has a 302 as well but the engine is tucked away in the shed. Time will tell, I guess I just have to be patient.
The sound of that Stang, priceless !
Tom needs to come to Central S.C. just in 3 spots there are multiple 36-40 Ford, mid 60's Chevelles, Impalas 59-70, Starliners, 69-74 Grand Prix, 70-71 Big block Camaros, 340 dusters and SO SO much more!
Excellent video it is amazing that in such a Northern area is such a good climate for preserving the older vehicles he has quite a hoard on the Broncos for sure , down in the lower 48 both the Broncos and the older FJs are getting harder to find in decent shape
Love this show, always talking with great people and seeing really cool auto history! I wanna see a show in my area Northern Idaho Eastern Washington!
That 4BT 4 Door FJ is going to be amazing!
Brincos, FJs and 70s Fullsizes.. Nice I like them all.
Love the sound of that GT 350 !!!!!
:13-:17 The Chrome trim on the window is awesome! Great Video
Thanks to Mr. Kimble From Green Acres! Driving 1st. Generation Bronco's! Since FOMOCO's Were The Feature automobiles of The 1965-1970 Sitcom! 10.34 am cst. USA 1/10/19
The early Bronco is one of the greatest off road vehicles ever made. It is a american icon.
I found this channel yesterday.... and I love you guys, the content is incredible!
Welcome to the club Powa. Make sure to subscribe as there's a lot of great content coming down the pipeline.
That FOUR DOOR 78 Ford Pickup is pretty dang cool I want it but don't need it
not a 78 but close, the 78’s headlights are different than the prior years
I like the mustang it sounds great love the old broncos to
Good Stuff Mr.Tom, keep it coming your severing it up nicely very cool about the Broncos...Txs...
I'm not an import guy, but that Land Cruiser has a hell of a big front end. As I recall from seeing one in a junkyard, the bodies are pretty heavy-gauge as well. Respect.
I live in fairbanks...i wish I knew you were here I would have showed you my 82 AMC eagle!
8:45 Nice collection of old crew cabs. With a Dana 60 also. Dent side candy!!!
Ron LeClair I was drooling over that green Crew cab,... big time. I have its supercab cousin.
gave the thumbs up for the alaska pass in the ol stang, then i kept going back to give a like as i kept watching
A lot of "so's" in this conversation! :)
Man, I love them old Bronco's, FJ40's and Scouts too. In 1975 I bought my first 4x4, a '63 Scout. Been looking for another but the prices are getting crazy on all three of these vehicles.
Good video as always Tom! At 20:10, notice that the “bronco orange”/coral bronco matches the kid’s hoodie.
Here in Arizona I see these Broncos in peoples yards and carports all over town. I have a feeling that 10 years from now they will be tucked away in garages. Get one while you still can.
Cool stuff, and I love that fastback. Thanks you guys doing what you do. Liked up as well. Peace my brothers.
All those crewcabs
The same in Scandinavian countries - most wanted are the vehicles called "Norr-kord" (driven in Nord) even if there is snowing heavily but no salt used - makes cars' bodies healthy.
Those are some sweet ponies! haha some of em need a little work but is it really a Bronco if it doesn't? 😂 This was great! It's crazy to see the kind of old vehicles that people have sitting in their back yard.
Less rusting in AK because they don't use salt on the roads except in early winter. Reason is salt doesn't work below around 20°, so they just use sand after that. And, as noted, the cold helps reduce rusting, unless you do something dumb like putting foam insulation in spaces not meant for it. Holds moisture in.
Thank you for the longer videos.
What an awesome collection of scrap metal.
Dang, dude knows his broncos! very cool!
I want one of those crew cab Fords.
I have 6 cars u think you would be pretty keen to see. Located in Colorado.
I like that last orange Bronco and I def redo that FJ in British racing green with white top 3” lift and BFG KO2 tires.
are we not gonna talk about the like 6, 70s dentside crewcabs he has, those are getting damn hard to find, im looking for one to turn into a expedition rig now and am hard pressed to find one thats not a $6000 shell.
I know right?
Can you tell me what the hell a "like 6" is?
@@mmill6505 you must be a little on the slow side since he never replied he meant it as in 6 trucks sitting there
@@carltonbankz9273 You must really be on the slow side because I made that comment 4 months ago. It was about the word "like" being used out of context. It was not "like 6 trucks" as any person can see.
Next time you want to start with "you must be a little on the slow side" you may want to look at the date a comment was posted.
My little league coach had a coral (orange) 1st gen Bronco, really clean...was a mid 60's. Had to be like...8-9 years old! :-)
[oh', it matched the team's orange uniforms. We were the Oriels.]
I remember several in blue, but I liked the dark green. We had a white Jeep Wagoneer (1960's), loved it! [7 kids]. Crossed many WV roads, I mean criks'.
At about 1:13 when the “Stang” has only one last car to pass .........a moose steps out, a good Alaskan day just turned real bad!! Been there seen that!
Growing up, my best friend's family always had a Scout. His dad worked for IH and the Scout was pretty much my friend's car. We went everywhere in it. Had the Kraco CB radio, the megaphone under the hood. It was sweet. Sort of a burnt orange... not sure if that is accurate, and the inside was custom with the swivel chairs. Lol
Down on the lake near where I went to school (in Ontario Canada) there was a guy's shop with dozens of Scouts in various conditions. He was there for decades but it's all gone now and I hope they found a good home.
I bought my 1973 in Odessa Texas in 1978/9 and the first thing I did was put on a set of header's and a 500 cfm Holly carb. Put 300,000 miles on that little beast. Hate the day I sold it.
Loved the last 30 seconds. A+
Back in the day , those Crew cabs were all made the hard way all custom made from two cabs , hand made , alot of them came from or near Elkart Indiana., and White Pigeon Mi.
Loved my 73 Bronco,it did turn tight, better than my 91 Explorer.
Another Jem of a video from you Tom
And they are all just out in the bush 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
All those old F-series Crews, each harder to find and probably worth more than each of those Broncos.. TOM why did you skip over them!?!
They are definitely not worth more than a first gen Bronco.
@@devonriley110 Side-by side several of those Crews in the background were worth more than some of the first-gen Bronco's they were looking at. First Gen Bronco's saw around 13-20+ thousand produced per model year, while those Crew's are closer to 2-4k per year, of which only around 25% were 4x4's. In other words it's around 30x harder to find a factory crew 4x4 than it is a first gen Bronco.
@@bumpsidetreasures Rare doesn't mean valuable.
@@devonriley110 value is determined by the amount of people looking to get their hands on whatever the object is, pre 80s crews are way harder to come by and have massive cult following
@@nathan5642 You obviously have no idea how popular the first gen Broncos are.
Love all your videos keep doing what you doing
Richard - Thank you for the support!
If it's original paint, that would be an original color.
Yeah they are getting hard to find, especially when you have them spread out all over the place. I would have to get these all organized at the same location. This is kookie talk!
What a way to start off the year with a Shelby Mustang 🙌🏻👌🏼
Nice collection!
I wish I had known there was an episode being filmed up here. Not far from Delta Junction we have a bunch of classics on our property!
302 2-barrel is a pretty decent "quicker revving" alternative to the 4-barrel setup. You lose on the top-end but gain a slightly more responsive around town response.
I hear they are thinking of bringing the Bronco back in 2020 from what I've seen looks pretty sharp.
I think it autocorrected, i think you meant shitty
It'll probably be a 4-door resembling the explorer with about as much off-road capability. I hope I'm wrong.
Also bringing back the Supra this year
