I was in London back in 1998 one time. Had to walk 11 miles to the station to catch the train home and I had no money at all. Just a return ticket. It was Wimbledon season, and it was about 28 degrees. By the time I got to the station I was dying of hunger and thirst. My train didn't get there for another two hours too! Followed by the two hour journey back home on the train. So I sat on a wall outside the station and looked around. At a cafe across the street, businessmen were sitting outside under parasols drinking tea and reading papers. I got the courage to walk over and asked the girl behind the counter for a cup of water - told her my position etc - and she said "wait here" and came back with two freezing bottles of water and a ham and salad sandwich. She just gave them to me. Water never tasted so good! :D
This story literally broke my heart, especially that I was once in a similar position (2002): I had a respectable amount of money in the bank, but couldn't get any, because all the ATMs of BP close to the bus station from were I started my journey in Casablanca were down (I was heading to Agadir- 500km to the South of Morocco)....I couldn't miss that bus, so I had to travel for 8 hours with No money and Nothing to eat...After 5 hours of driving, the bus stopped at a resting area for about 45 minutes and all passengers, but me, treated themselves with nice meals : kebabs, roasted chicken, sandwiches, soups, tea with mint....All I had on me was I chewing gum that I chewed for one minute to get some sugar/energy out of it... When we finally got to my destination, I tradged my heavy luggage for 2-3 miles to the closest ATM of my bank branch (couldn't take a taxi, because I was not sure I would be able to withdraw money and pay the cab driver) that was hopefully working, withdraw money, took a taxi and asked the driver to take me to a nice restaurant...I then ordered a copius meal and took my time to appreciate it...Imagine having money in the bank and not being able to get it in order to pay for your meals an stuff....So, I really feel what you went through and always hep anyone who is in the same situation! Best wishes from Montreal, Canada
@@AzizHACHIMI-DustyPearl-13 You know, the hilarious thing is, I had no idea how far the Station was - I didn't understand how big London was! It was my first time there. So that was a mistake, I should have checked a map. But my other mistake was, the night before at around 1am, I'd gone downstairs in the hotel and out the back door near the kitchens to smoke. Then, as I finished smoking, I climbed down from the bin and went into my back pocket and gave him EVERYTHING I had left (didn't know I'd need it the next day!) which was about £11.50 or something. Dear Gary, first of all I hope you had a happy birthday and were able to have a nice day in spite of a disappointing breakfast. Your ratings are certainly fair as you gave the service an excellent review. Have to ask. Why didn’t you send the greasy eggs and beef back and ask for another plate? I’ve been stuck like that and have ended up leaving all the food (and paying for it) as I couldn’t eat what was served. Anyway, until next time; thank you for sharing your experience as I enjoy your videos.
I've said it before, but had a trad breakfast with coffee at Wetherspoons last week. About £4.30, if memory serves, and zero complaints. This is a travesty, but also a great public service posting. Its worth remarking critically on any business that is hell-bent on ripping you off, like these guys. Thanks Gary, great review.
Yeah, you poor prople should stick to your cheap shitty places with the cheap ingredients and cheap food. I'm always grateful for you taking one for the team, Gary. I do prefer when you have splendid experiences, but you help me create a list of places to avoid the next time I visit Britain. Thanks for that! And happy belated birthday from me as well!
Happy Birthday Gary!! Another great review, thank you. So glad your channel is going from strength to strength. Nice to see a fellow "35" year old being so popular.
Cafe Concerto group is owned by our Arab brethren, hence Salt Beef not Bacon 🥓, I thought it would make sense why it’s on the menu , Happy Birthday Gary 😊
Curious, salt beef is a Jewish dish. I remember coming down to London as a little boy and my uncle taking me to a traditional place in the East End. The salt beef sandwiches I had were delicious.
Surely the basics in a kitchen serving breakfast is to send out food without an oil slick accompaniment? I was reminded the fact that on so many of your reviews you highlight the truth that family owned businesses who ooze care, quality and pride in their food always seem to stand out above the rest, a point proven in this video . Happy Birthday Gary , hopefully you had a better dinner and a glass or two to celebrate.
Gary ..Happy Birthday..21 again.. your too polite.. you did not complain.. hopefully they watch your review and up there game... hope you have a nice evening meal on your birthday...
Happy Birthday Gary - I’m in London today to commemorate my late wife’s birthday and will be near that location! Thanks to your experience, I’ll be avoiding that rip-off establishment!
Happy birthday, Gary 🎉. Thirty-five again! You can't even reverse 59 (95) to get a lower number like my grandad used to. Breakfast is on the cameraman!
Happy birthday! Noticed the attention to detail in matching your top to the chairs! 😊 That's dedication! In all seriousness, hope the bad meal didn't spoil your special day!
Happiest Birthday Gary! Shame the breakfast didn’t live up to the legend you are! Keep ‘Giving it a go’ you brighten my week. Wishing you a happy, healthy and plenty of good eats in the year ahead x
Tea should never cost more than £2.95. £4.95 is robbery. Whether you chose your breakfast or not there is no excuse for that amount of grease. The eggs would’ve been as greasy if you had bacon with them. The bacon would’ve tasted like oil. You’ve done a public service though and helped us all avoid being ripped off.
Happy Birthday Gary!! Hope you have a lovely day!🎉🥂 I hope you found some other nice place to dine later on, as those breakfasts were very underwhelming. I agree with you on that.
Moved from London to New Zealand 30 years ago and when I watch these videos I cant believe the price differences, that cup of tea is $10nzd and yet a WHOLE box of Yorkshire tea here is only $13nzd, what a rip off for the tourists in London! Happy birthday I hope the cameraman spoilt you!!!
Hello Gary , have a super day , you deserve it. x The venue is so classy like our Gary. I love your t-shirt, it matches the colour of the chairs . I'm ignoring that number 59 as I just don't believe it. You're much younger. 😊 Although I've not a sweet tooth, your dessert looked well presented. The venue is expensive and it's sad you weren't happy with it as the quality did let you down. I definitely agree with your score. I do hope the rest of the day blesses you and you manage to keep a lovely smile on your face. Have a lovely evening and thank you and Son for sharing sweet x 😊
A new yorker wouldn’t touch that salt beef . It looks horrendous. I’ve had salt beef in New York . It was always thick cut and very tender . No ! This is pathetic. It was painful to watch food desecrated .
@@Jan-iq5sm Agreed..But Gary is in London, not New York, trying out a venue. Based on his honest review I wouldn't visit. I'm grateful to Gary and his Son for all the effort they put into these reviews. Good evening to you .
Happy birthday to both of us for yesterday !! Usually I would avoid any restaurant that feels the need to give picture related menu and that place seems to be no exception. Hope you had a good Day!
Happy Birthday Gary! Sorry your Birthday meal wasn’t up to scratch, but hope the rest of your day was! Still loving your videos and thanks for your fabulous reviews - it makes me miss my London (I’ve now lived in Sydney for the past 10 years) and your videos give me a heart warming taste of home. Carry on the the fantastic work!
Happy birthday Gary. Is the 59 on your shirt, your badge? 😂 You don't look a day over. You'd have been better off with a spoons or a tesco meal deal than that unfancy slop!
If the beef was tough then it was OVER cooked. Eggs over cooked, swimming in grease! You deserve a medal for bravery for even contemplating eating that breakfast. I had 15 years of school dinners, followed by 10 year of service messes and I thought twice when the cameraman did the close up. Keep up the good work. Linda & Tony, Portsmouth UK. 😍😄
I see this a lot lately. Businesses asking for an arm and a leg and product is disappointing. Seems they are benefiting more than the customer. Makes one wonder if it’s all worth it anymore. Stay home and have a chip butty. Full belly is a full belly. Nice review. Happy birthday! 🎉
Business is all about just making money now isnt it, not actually delivering anything of great quality, it seems return business doesnt matter. I do genuinely think generally in all walks of life people are getting worse at doing things nowadays, people arent arsed,, it's all about minimal effort and maximum return, so naturally you lose quality.
I hate feeling like I've been ripped off, and £5 for a port of tea that costs a few pence to make is really taking the biscuit. I know they can say the margin on that helps subsidise costs on other items, but having such a popular item with such a massive markup feels like a cash grab.
£5 for a cup of tea!! Outrageous! The eggs also didn't look fresh, very flat and covered in oil...yuk! As others have said total tourist trap. You would have been better off walking up Regents Street and go back to the Little Portland Cafe.
Happy belated birthday Gary, you are one of the most down to earth, honest and knowledgeable of people who always gives a great show, keep on keepin' on🙂🙂.

If your birthday is August 7th ,so was my late Scottish husbands, and he was nice and easy going like you ! Thanks for your great videos, so honest and well done. I am a fan from 🇨🇦 Canada, wishing you a very Happy Birthday !
My best wishes to you and thank you
Happy Birthday Gary 🎉😊 Disappointing that this was the worst breakfast when you’ve had so many excellent meals lately…today of all days! Hoping you made up for it tonight ❤❤
Thank you very much!! Yes pretty terrible
I'm always grateful for you taking one for the team, Gary. I do prefer when you have splendid experiences, but you help me create a list of places to avoid the next time I visit Britain. Thanks for that!
And happy belated birthday from me as well!
You are very welcome and thank you!!
Happy Birthday Gary you deserved better on your special day but never the less I hope you had a lovely day
Thank you so much Neil
Happy Birthday Gary - all the very best 🙂
Thank you!
Happy Birthday Gary!! Another great review, thank you. So glad your channel is going from strength to strength. Nice to see a fellow "35" year old being so popular.
Thank you so much lol, take care
Cafe Concerto group is owned by our Arab brethren, hence Salt Beef not Bacon 🥓, I thought it would make sense why it’s on the menu , Happy Birthday Gary 😊
Curious, salt beef is a Jewish dish. I remember coming down to London as a little boy and my uncle taking me to a traditional place in the East End. The salt beef sandwiches I had were delicious.
Hi Petrus, there was a full English on the menu as well and thank you my friend
My theory stands. The more luxurious restaurant, the more it sucks. Happy Birthday, young man!!!
I haven't been impressed by many
@@GaryEats of course not. Stick to the cheaper ones.
Happy Birthday, Gary. Have yourself a good un, mate. Thanks for the entertainment you provide.
I really appreciate that, thank you
@GaryEats: Pleasure. Best wishes to you and the cameraman.
Oh happy birthday Gary. From one Leo to another! Enjoy your day. x
Thank you Sharon. Have a good week!
That is a very good point, thank you very much and thank you very much for the birthday wishes Steven
Wishing Gary a very happy birthday and the best of health & wealth ‼️💖
Thank you very much
Happy birthday Gary. Thanks for the review, I certainly will steer clear of this place
Please do!
i'm sorry you had a bad experience on your bd, hope the rest of your day was enjoyable!
happy birthday gary and i wish you many good years to come!
No problem, thank you!!
nice to see Gary was colour co-ordinated with the chairs and the umbrellas...it's this attention to detail that keeps me coming back
He's a regular walking fashion statement.
That is so very funny, thank you very much
Gary ..Happy Birthday..21 again.. your too polite.. you did not complain.. hopefully they watch your review and up there game... hope you have a nice evening meal on your birthday...
Thanks 👍 and much appreciated
Happy Birthday Gary, hope you had a fabulous day 😊
Thank you Angela, I did after this!
Many Happy Returns Gary! I could listen to you all day long. Thank you!
It would appear that you and I are the oldies here, everybody else says Happy Birthday!
Thank you Mark
Happy birthday Gary 🎉
Thank you very much, Clinton
Many happy returns Gary, you are young at heart and have a great outlook and that's all that matters ❤️
That’s very kind thank you ❤️
@@GaryEats very kind of you to do such lovely video's.
Happy birthday, Gary!! Hope you have/had a wonderful day and been spoiled! You deserve it! x🥳❤
Thanks so much!!
Happy Birthday Gary !! Enjoy your Day Wishing you the Best !
Thanks so much Jason
Happy Birthday Gary - I’m in London today to commemorate my late wife’s birthday and will be near that location! Thanks to your experience, I’ll be avoiding that rip-off establishment!
I hope you had an absolutely fantastic day today today my kindest regards
Really churning out the content at the moment Gary, you deserve all the success and subs you're getting. Happy Birthday 🎉
Thank you! A little break coming soon :)
Happy birthday, Gary 🎉. Thirty-five again!
You can't even reverse 59 (95) to get a lower number like my grandad used to.
Breakfast is on the cameraman!
Thank you very much! He paid for this one lol
Happy Birthday Sir! Have a fabulous time. Thanks so much for your Sterling work. Keeping me positive with your cheery manner. Cheers and thanks again.
Thank you so much Stephen, how are you?
@GaryEats I'm doing OK thanks. Got a scan on the 17th to see how my treatment has gone. Fingers crossed 🤞 . Keeping positive.
Best of luck
Happy birthday! Noticed the attention to detail in matching your top to the chairs! 😊 That's dedication! In all seriousness, hope the bad meal didn't spoil your special day!
That did make me laugh and thank you very much
Happiest Birthday Gary!
Shame the breakfast didn’t live up to the legend you are!
Keep ‘Giving it a go’ you brighten my week.
Wishing you a happy, healthy and plenty of good eats in the year ahead x
Very kind, thank you Kate
Tea should never cost more than £2.95. £4.95 is robbery. Whether you chose your breakfast or not there is no excuse for that amount of grease. The eggs would’ve been as greasy if you had bacon with them. The bacon would’ve tasted like oil. You’ve done a public service though and helped us all avoid being ripped off.
It's fine you get 2/3 cups out of it! £4.95 for classic English tea is great!
£2.95 is still a rip off, it's just water a tea bag and a drop of milk.
That's not how inflation works chump
my local cafe tea is free refills and anything you want.
It's very overpriced Adam, that's for sure
Happy birthday Mr Gary 🎉hope you’re having a wonderful day 👍🏻thank you for keeping us entertained and informed, love you loads ❤
Thanks so much Squidge
Happy Birthday Gary!! Hope you have a lovely day!🎉🥂
I hope you found some other nice place to dine later on, as those breakfasts were very underwhelming. I agree with you on that.
That’s very kind thank you very much. The rest of the day went well.
Happy birthday, Gary. I hope that ghastly breakfast didn't ruin your good mood.
Thank you and nope all good!
I think we could literally all make a better breakfast than that, for free for you Gary!! Happy birthday!
That’s very kind Kai
Happy Birthday Gary !! Hope you've had a good one!!
Thank you so much
Moved from London to New Zealand 30 years ago and when I watch these videos I cant believe the price differences, that cup of tea is $10nzd and yet a WHOLE box of Yorkshire tea here is only $13nzd, what a rip off for the tourists in London! Happy birthday I hope the cameraman spoilt you!!!
Thank you very much, and unfortunately, this is a rip-off
Happy birthday my good fellow. Have a lovely day Gary ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much
Happy birthday Gary 🎉❤
Thank you Bryony
Happy birthday Gary x 🎈🥳
Thank you so much Joanne
wow,... not been to a Concerto,... but this was VERY expensive indeed. Another top review Gary.
Thank you very much
Hello Gary , have a super day , you deserve it. x
The venue is so classy like our Gary. I love your t-shirt, it matches the colour of the chairs .
I'm ignoring that number 59 as I just don't believe it. You're much younger. 😊
Although I've not a sweet tooth, your dessert looked well presented.
45 pounds ? It’s a 1 / 10 . 1 for the service . The salt beef should be more red .
@@Jan-iq5sm Agreed..But Gary is in London, not New York, trying out a venue.
Based on his honest review I wouldn't visit. I'm grateful to Gary and his Son for all the effort they put into these reviews. Good evening to you .
@@Jan-iq5sm Yes tender, thicker and full of flavour. The venue was lovely though. Anyway why don't you have a lovely relax with a glass of vino 😊
Thank you Maria. The breakfast was shocking, the French toast was good just overpriced! Thank you and have a lovely rest of your week!
*Happy 29th Birthday Gary 😊👍*
That's very young! lol
Happy Birthday Gary!
Thank you so much Sanjay
Happy birthday to both of us for yesterday !! Usually I would avoid any restaurant that feels the need to give picture related menu and that place seems to be no exception. Hope you had a good Day!
Thank you both so very much, David
Happy Birthday Gary. Look at the state of those eggs 🤦♀ absolutely shocking.
Thank you very much
Happy Birthday Gary, have a good one.
Thank you!
Happy Birthday Gary, many Happy returns.
Thank you so much Dave
@@GaryEats sorry your birthday breakfast was an expensive let down. Hopefully you had birthday cake after.
Thank you very much, Louise. That is very kind. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Happy birthday Gary mate hope your lad bought you a jar or two?😅
Shame you got skanked on this one.☹️
Great review as always mate 👍🏻😁
Thank you Rob. Yes not good at all!
Enjoy your birthday Gary,🎉🎁🎁🎊🎉🎊🍸🥂🍾🥂🍾🥂🍸🥂
Thank you so much Michael
love your honesty gary and happy birthday hope rest of your day was enjoyable because that was worse than a roadside cafe love your vids mate
Thank you, really appreciate it
Happy birthday Gary. Is the 59 on your shirt, your badge? 😂
You don't look a day over.
You'd have been better off with a spoons or a tesco meal deal than that unfancy slop!
Thank you very much and know that was a little joke on my behalf
If the beef was tough then it was OVER cooked. Eggs over cooked, swimming in grease! You deserve a medal for bravery for even contemplating eating that breakfast.
I had 15 years of school dinners, followed by 10 year of service messes and I thought twice when the cameraman did the close up.
Keep up the good work.
Linda & Tony, Portsmouth UK. 😍😄
Eggs were too dry for me tbh needs to be more runny
Unfortunately, this was a very poor offering, but thank you very much and I hope you have a wonderful week Linda and Tony
@@GaryEats Thank you, you too. L & T 😄
@@tonyburgham4322some people are starving. Literally.
Yep, shocking. Thank you
Thanks Gary you make your restaurant reviews very interesting and sometimes mouthwatering keep up the good work.👏👏👏
That’s very kind Kenneth
Happy Birthday Gary
Thank you my friend
Happy 59 th birthday Gary.
Im gutted you were ripped off big time
You can buy a box of Yorkshire tea for that price.
Hope the next one is better 😊
Thanks Liz! 👍
Happy Birthday Gary 🎉🥳🎈🎁
A special wee jog today ☺️
Extra spring in my step today Rosie, thank you!
HAPPY belated Birthday Gary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so amazing to see your channel grow. Absolutely amazing video as always!!
That’s very kind to say, thank you very much
What sort of place charges prices like that and can’t even produce a decent fried egg? Rip off indeed.
Happy birthday!
Thank you very much
I would really like to see a restaurant they actually make their own hash browns instead of those frozen pre-prepared triangles
I agree with you 100%
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !🤗🥳🥳
Thank you so much
@@GaryEats hope you had a lovely day 🙂
All the best for your birthday Gary 👍ill give this place a miss not good.enjoying your videos best on UA-cam 👍👍👍
Thank you very much, Craig
I hate feeling like I've been ripped off, and £5 for a port of tea that costs a few pence to make is really taking the biscuit. I know they can say the margin on that helps subsidise costs on other items, but having such a popular item with such a massive markup feels like a cash grab.
You're right
£5 for a cup of tea!! Outrageous! The eggs also didn't look fresh, very flat and covered in oil...yuk! As others have said total tourist trap. You would have been better off walking up Regents Street and go back to the Little Portland Cafe.
Don't understand why it's justifiable to charge that much
Glad you managed to find a quiet spot to record - most of the time it's like bloody Picadilly Circus round there!
It's very loud and busy around there lol
Happy belated birthday Gary, you are one of the most down to earth, honest and knowledgeable of people who always gives a great show, keep on keepin' on🙂🙂.
That is very kind to say thank you so very much
The option of salted beef is likely due to the number of patrons that don't eat pork. 🤔
Thank you very much for the information, Bob
