Wakana's line at 5:58-6:03 was just beautiful. How she just opened her mouth gradually to change and expand the effect of her tone. That was my favourite in the song. I also loved the first duet with Kaori and Yuriko Kaida.
The piano interlude for “Fake Wings” was so intricate abs expressive. That is my favorite of this trio of songs. This was the first time I realized the sensitivity and intricacy of Kaori's voice. She sang in almost a speaking style which felt so intimate, broken (like broken wings) and fragile. I believe this video is what made me have really start to pay attention to her as a vocalist. She made me feel that song. "Miezaru Ude" was another song that more recently cemented my respect for Kaori as a skilled singer and solo lead - a role she doesn't really get to have in FJ as much based on the way the vocal composition is envisioned.
They said that Fake Wings was a lullaby for a dying child. A lullaby should be sung softly and sweetly. And because the child(fragile) is dying, you will feel broken in which Kaori has given a good interpretation of it.
Liked this back in 2015 and back again in 2020 and it still sounds as magical and as charming as the first time! Total eargasm and one of the best live performances ever! God I wish I were there!
This literally brought me to tears. I am speechless... I have never had music do what 'Mezame' did to me. It's mind blowing... I have always passionately loved music, and been aware of the power it can hold, and have over us. But this... This is something completely new. A song alone has never made me bawl my eyes out like a child just out of pure beauty and power alone. This is why I have, and always will, love music above anything and everything else in the world. There is nothing like it, and we as a human race are blessed to have it. Yuki Kajiura is by far my favourite composer ever. I could pick out any of her songs and immerse myself in the pure beauty that it is. I may sound ridiculous. I mean, it's just music. I'm obviously just being a pretentious little twat right?. But I'm not, at least I think I'm not. These are just my true feelings on music.
Beautiful thoughts, Monika! It's amazing that, almost six years after I decided to share this video, so many people find it and connect so deeply with Yuki's incredible music. I'm so very happy you liked it, and thank you so much for sharing your feelings on it, which I echo wholeheartedly. Thank you!
Yeah, I have known about Yuki Kajiura's music for a while through anime. I had watched Madoka Magica and loved the ost. I knew she made amazing music, but it was only recently that I decided to try and just listen to some of her music in isolation. I've been listening to so many and have loved them all, I was listening to just a lot of Kajiura's songs in succession until I reached this one and was blown away. In fact, I went and bought a Yuki Kajiura live CD because of this. It wasn't this one, I didn't find it. But when I do I'll probably buy that one too if I can afford it. I'm glad you enjoyed my comment and that you agree with it :D. Thank you for sharing this, even though it was six years ago. I'd still have loved Kajiura if I hadn't seen this video, but not to the same extent. I intend to share Kajiura's work with how many people I can, in hopes they can get to connect with it the same way, or if nothing else just giving her more of the attention she deserves. hehe, I guess maybe that same passion for sharing her work is what made you post this video come to think of it.
@@WikiPhaedriel This is still my favorite anime music that hits me the hardest and pull at all the heartstrings at once. My H.I.M.E
3:10 Kaori has this skill of expanding her tone to resonate wider and farther like she did hear on the last word, “find” Wakana has that mournful and emotional high-pitched voice. That unique resonance that stands her out. Keiko always warms up and softens to blend with her.
I have no words to describe those feels. It's so beautiful. I can recognize the originals song but don't know where I heard this before. Still, Yuki Kajiura is absolutely talentuous, she deserves 10000 more ovations from all over the world. So much better than stereotyped, annoying musics from most of western countries. But I do get what the other guy was talking about. When looking at Japanese composers their work after about 1999 feature English lyrics over Japanese lyrics. Yuki Kajiura, Yoko Kano, and Akira Yamaoka to name a few. Just that English in japan is cool like Japanese in America.

Yuki has mastered a particular style, a blend of chant/classical/techno, and varies which particular influence is strongest in a particular piece. Escaflowne is grand musical power on the order of John Williams or Jerry Goldsmith, while Ghost in the Shell (movie and anime series) are much more techno and rock influence, then Cowboy Bebop is jazz. She has also composed using bosa nova (Wolf’s Rain) and several other styles; to the point that, ifyou don’t know she’s the composer already, you’ll be surprised to learn that she is.
